Frauds, Thieves,
Summary: The discussion revolves around a participant expressing frustration with eBay, labeling it as a scam and claiming it neglects sellers. Responses vary, with some users defending eBay, sharing their positive experiences, and suggesting that the platform is more neutral, serving as a tool for commerce. Others suggest the original complaint lacks specific details and could stem from misunderstandings or isolated incidents. A participant explains the buyer protection measures on eBay and encourages familiarizing oneself with the platform's policies to avoid potential issues.
eBay is a total scam and nothing but a bunch of thieves! I’d stay clear of this platform and spend/earn your money elsewhere! And they don’t give a single damn about the seller!

Right, they need buyers more then they do sellers.

·2 weeks ago · EditedEBAY (the company) is actually not a bunch of thieves and scammers. Some sellers possibly might not send what they are supposed to, whether it is accidental or on purpose. eBay has a Money Back Guarantee for Buyers and when something happens that shouldn't, YOU have to know what to do and act accordingly. Everything is automated; you don't have to talk to anyone. But there is a time limit to act. It might not hurt if you would do a little reading to find out how eBay works.

·2 weeks agoGood effort, but we don't even know what kind of grief the OP was dumping. Could be fees, payment holds, misunderstanding something like how "free shipping" doesn't mean nobody has to pay for it, etc.

·2 weeks ago@gurlcat OP has only sold one item, for $1200.00 with $300 shipping. You are right that we don't know what kind of grief the OP was dumping but I'm guessing that it either involved a payment hold or a return. It would have been nice if he had given some details for his rant.

Well I can perhaps understand the earn part of that statement. That said the spend part is what I do and can say I've not been ripped off. Disappointed from time to time but always made whole even if it left a sour aftertaste.
I still find eBay the absolute best venue to find what I search for at a reasonable price point (usually).

·2 weeks agoI have been selling on eBay since before 2000, and have 6 selling accounts. I have never been scammed or thieved.
And in all that time, I have never expected eBay to give a damn about me. eBay is simply a tool that I use.

·2 weeks agoActually I heard they give 6 damns but take half a dozen. But I suck at math so I just keep listing, keep making money.

·2 weeks agoI sell on eBay using a different ID.
I am neither a scammer nor a thief.
I believe a good 90% of all eBay sellers are honest and reliable people and sellers.
Probably more than 90%, really.

·2 weeks agoI think the OP was accusing eBay of being the thieves, not eBay sellers.
