Fraud Theft of Identity
Does anyone have experience with contacting EBay to report someone stealing your identity to be a seller on here? I received a letter in the mail requesting my minor child’s tax payer identification number. He doesn’t have an account and has never had one. I believe my ex stole his info and created this account to avoid paying taxes.

·4 months agoAre you still in touch with the lawyer who handled the details of your separation? They are more likely to offer useful advice than any random poster here- heck, I'm not even in your country.
If it were me, I'd be calling Service Canada and letting them know the situation. They handle a lot of weird problems from all Canadian government departments. I don't know if the USA has any equivalent.

·4 months agoMany of those emails are just spam sent to random addresses. Does not seem to have any connection to eBay.

OP4 months agoIt was an actual letter for tax filing purposes. It was sent to my ex’s address that I moved out of over a year ago. What he didn’t know was I had all mail bearing my name or my son’s name forwarded to my new address. It was forwarded to me.
