Flowers and Bees
Why do you make us click bees and flowers? You are wasting my time. Every day, multiple times a day, you make me click this pointless crap. I've clicked flowers and bees so many times I see them in my dreams. And no don't change it to something else.
On top of that you post ads to me. I don't want to see your ads. I do not want to download your app. I do not want to add a passkey. Why do you do this? Every day all day long and multiple times a day you do this. Every hear the saying, "Stop wasting my time."?

·2 years agoI like how eBay is now hitting me with the captcha when I click "log out". I log on no problem. Navigate through the seller hub. Print my labels. But as soon as I want to log out, now eBay wants me to prove I'm not a bot. Otherwise, no log out for you! So dumb.

·2 years agoYeah, it's weird situations. Like, why do I have to prove I'm human to look at my own FB. I never get it when processing sales or doing something that may be risky. That's why it seemed to me that it is implemented by eBay, b/c it's always the same 2 places. After decades of never getting one.

·2 years agoI'm sorry, I've been so busy the last month, I haven't had a chance to weigh in on this & I desperately wanted to b/c I brought it up in the last Mentor's meeting (actually the 2nd to last now) @kyle@ebay @devon@ebay @elizabeth@ebay . This is what I was talking about & I think Sheila misunderstood what I was trying to say when she directed me to Reddit b/c it's a user problem.
What I was saying is that it is NOT a user issue! I didn't get captcha's for years & suddenly the last 5 months or so, I get them constantly. I am NOT using a VPN, I have been in software design my whole life, I'm pretty techie, I have no clue why these started happening, but they are always in the same 2 places, which is why I was asking Sheila if this was maybe something eBay was doing to get metrics on those particular screens.
I can't think of the 2nd screen now, but it happens almost every time I click on Feedback numbers. My own or someone else's. It's not every single time, but easily 2-3x a day, just clicking my own FB number. Devon, Kyle, Elizabeth, you can see someone else in here mentioned getting it in the same place.
Also, contrary to some who think the problem is from deleting cookies, I do the opposite, I almost NEVER delete cookies, etc. Maybe once every month or 2. Also, I just upgraded my Windows release to 11 a few weeks ago & it made no difference, I still get them constantly. Prior to this, I've only seen them once or twice in the last 10 years LOL.
The only change has been that now they are sunflowers & I forget the other new one, but they aren't the same bees & flowers anymore.
It's ALWAYS the same 2 screens too, the FB screen from clicking on a FB number & I forget the other one, but I will post it when I run into it again. I really think this deserves a closer look by ebay, as it's super annoying!

OP2 years agoLooks like ebay took notice. They changed the captcha to rabbits, deers, etc. This is new. Ebay, this is not the answer. I don't want to pick things. The flowers were better. I knew exactly where to click before you showed it. You showed it to me so many times. Now I have to learn these new ones. I hate you.

·2 years agoThe bees and flowers look pretty. They must have had complaints about the bridges.

OP2 years agoVery surprised. I signed in for the first time today and didn't get one. Usually, I get it multiple times a day. Sometimes I leave the browser open and then go to bid and it shows one. If you bid at the last minute you basically miss out on the item. eBay is more concerned with putting up a captcha than letting me bid.

OP2 years agoI've signed in twice today. They keep asking me to sign up for passkeys. It's a gimmick. You sign up for passkeys and then they send you a message to your phone. So instead of clicking ignore passkey message you now have to pick up your phone, type the password in the phone, and click the message, and get the code. It's more work!

·2 years agoThe part that ticks me off is that it pops up when I'm going to do something like look at my own feedback! Not when I'm going to a page where I could do damage!
evry1nositswindy
·2 years agoI get it all the time too. I'm on my desktop and it happens daily, multiple times a day. I do a lot of looking at feedback and listings while helping here on the community and it is quite annoying. I clicked on my own feedback and got it too!

·2 years agoProbably because it is on the T-mobile network. That network tends to be abused by spammers who uses their IP pools for bot related activity. Not to mention they share their network with other small time mobile providers as well.
Never really had that issue with Verizon or ATT network. Wonder to if your browser has any blocking of tracking of any sort. Tends to trigger those captchas as well.

·2 years agoI haven't had to do that for awhile now. But earlier in the year, I had the same thing. Had to click on trucks or something like that EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Yes it was annoying. It seems like they take turns with us. But so many thing are annoying throughout the day (not just Ebay but in general) that it didn't really bother me that much. But I get it...

OP2 years agoI am not on VPN. I am on tmobiles home internet. Maybe they route it through some sort of VPN.

·2 years agoThat’s interesting. I never see that.

·2 years agoI don't either. I can't even remember the last time I got a captcha on eBay.

·2 years agoMe three.
I never encounter that.

·2 years agoWhy do you make us click bees and flowers?
@vw.nos
I find it rather annoying today. It is especially bad when trying to view policy pages. It is requiring it on every page viewed, and even halfway through typing in the SEARCH box to look up a subject matter. If the bot doesn't believe we are humans anyway, perhaps they can ditch that step and just stick with the bees or flowers.
On the brighter side, as a very old person with vision issues, at least the flowers and bees are BRIGHT yellow. I really hate those ones with the traffic lights. LOL.

·2 years agoUh, no one here is making you click on anything.

·2 years agoTo be fair, eBay is. In the case of the Captchas, it is not optional. So yes, you must click on those to get to the pages you want.
The multiple captchas get VERY annoying. However, I acknowledge that is my fault, since I use a VPN, and I'd guess the OP is too, which is why both of us get an insane amount of captchas.
The ads... are easy to ignore, so no biggie to me there.

·2 years agoThe multiple captchas get VERY annoying.
I do not think most users are encountering that, though clearly some are.
Typically I only see such Captcha verification screens immediately after erasing my browser cookies and signing in to eBay once again.
Are you using a VPN or a hotspot? Privacy software like Ghostery or Disconnect?
Any of those can potentially cause verification issues.
If none of those things apply, your browser may be having issues saving or updating your eBay cookies. Blocking all cookies, blocking third party cookies, blocking scripts or using enhanced tracking protection might cause such issues. Try changing your settings or try another browser without those settings to see if you avoid Captcha issues that way.
If another browser works better, try manually erasing just your eBay cookies in the original browser once; that might help if the problem was with a blocked or corrupt cookie, but if you are having problems with multiple browsers or devices the issue may be with your particular settings or your network.

·2 years agoI don't use a VPN and I have to click on the stupid things.
I'm signed in, why do I need to prove I'm a human every half hour?

·2 years agoThis sounds like a cookie issue. I can go for months without ever seeing the birds/bees or busses etc. The only time I get those is when I take a multi week holiday.
Maybe it's because I always have open eBay tabs in my browser(s) and the only time I shut down (or reboot) my computer is when I will be away for an extended (weeks) time.
I've helped a few friends with this issue (not just eBay) and it usually turns out they have "delete cookies on exit" set in their browser and they (shock to me) turn off their computer ever night.
adamcartwright
·2 years agoUh, yes they are. That was OP's point. If there's a captcha on your screen, you can't advance without it.
duffy4444
·2 years agoI think @soh.maryl may have been referring to anyone here on this forum, not at eBay itself, which does require the user to click on the captcha.
Cheers, Duffy
