First "Changed my Mind" Request on a $400 Videogame Collectible Manual
Summary: neojapanvideo shared an experience about receiving their first return request after a customer claimed dissatisfaction upon receiving a $400 videogame manual. They suspected a scam, noting they provided clear images in the listing. onefootflipper suggested accepting the return to avoid disputes. Others, like inhawaii, mentioned the listing's "no return" policy and advised caution. mam98031 explained return policy details, and stainlessenginecovers encouraged denying the return due to its "changed my mind" reason. Despite offering a refund for a missing case, neojapanvideo faced challenges with feedback removal from the platform. Various participants weighed in on reasons behind the buyer's change of heart, invoking discussions about buying policies and feedback systems.
Hi, I got my first Return with this excuse as soon as the costumer received the item and signed for it.
I smell a bait and switch here, been selling for years but I dont think this has happend to me before
on an item like this and after the costumer just received it. I posted full clear images of every nick and
scratch it had but it was almost mint.
UPDATE
After contacting the costumer he expressed he assumed the item came with a case (box)
Items title, description and pictures did not offer a case.
We denied the return. Costumer left negative feedback a very harsh one at that.
The automated feedback removal only analized the feedback content and did not remove feedback
An Ebay Agent took the task to verify the listing's title, description, pictures and feedback
After a while he concluded the feedback goes against ebay's policies since we listed the item with proper description.
Thanks all who commented
Peace!

·1 month agoHave you even received the manual back yet? Looks like you are assuming the worst when you don't know if the worst is going to happen.
Could be something as simple as a "kid" bought it and mom and dad found out and said "no way" so they need to return it. You can refuse the return based on the reason they gave, but they can always do a chargeback with their payment source.

·1 month agoMaybe they "changed their mind" because someone else in their household hollered "You paid $400 for WHAT?"

·1 month ago · EditedIs it for the Mega Man 8 game?
The listing clearly states no returns.
If it's a "I changed my mind" return, you do not have to accept it ... but be prepared for a negative feedback.
Up to you.
Good luck!

OP1 month agoThe buyer claims it did not include a case and the title and description does not say it INCLUDES the case, the pictures also dont show a case, and besides if someone that buys a manual for a game for $400 would most likely buy a new case for cheap to display that bad boy, that excuse smells like scam.

·1 month agoThe KEY is what reason the buyer selected when they filed for the return. That is VERY important info. If they selected a buyer remorse reason and you have a no return policy, you can decline the return as @inhawaii explained.
But if they selected there was something wrong with it or it was somehow incomplete, you either need to refund the buyer or accept the return and refund them AFTER you get the item back.
The return policies options are as follows.
1. No Returns
2. 30 day returns w/ buyer pays shipping
3. 60 day returns w/ buyer pays shipping
4. 30 day returns w/ seller pays shipping, AKA Free Returns
5. 60 day returns w/ seller pays shipping. AKA Free Returns
6. 14 Day returns in certain categories
With option number 1, No Returns the seller can completely deny taking a return for a Buyer's Remorse Return Request, if the buyer properly filed the claim. Or if they want to they can accept the return and have the buyer pay the return shipping. If the seller so chooses they can withhold the original shipping if it was separately stated on the listing [not free shipping] when it is time to refund the buyer.
On options 2 & 3 the buyer is responsible for the return shipping on a Buyer's Remorse Return. Plus if the seller so chooses they can withhold the original shipping if it was separately stated on the listing [not free shipping] when it is time to refund the buyer. As of October 1st 2019, sellers that are TRS have some additional protections as well as they can issue partial refunds if they options 2 or 3 as their return policy.
On options 4 & 5 above, they are also known as Free Returns. If a seller that has either of those policies they will pay the return shipping even on a buyer's remorse return. A seller can withhold the original shipping value from the refund if the shipping was separately stated in the listing [not free shipping]. Also Seller’s offering options 4 or 5 have the ability to do partial refunds in certain cases if the item arrives back damaged, missing something or in a condition less than what it was sent to the buyer in, see the policy for more details, the link is below. In the cases where a deduction in the refund is taken due to damage or other authorized reasons for a partial refund, Ebay will protect the seller from negative or neutral feedback.
ALL OPTIONS [1, 2, 3, 4 and 5] are required to process SNAD claims without exception. Even if they are improperly filed and should have been a Buyer’s Remorse claim.
All return policies by sellers must meet or exceed what is stated in the Money Back Guarantee Policy!
14 day return policies are allowed in certain categories: Camera Drones, Camera lenses, Collectibles & Art, Digital Cameras, Jewelry and Medical & Mobility.
For those with Free Return and/or TRS members with 30 day return policies, there are some added protection benefits, one of which is the ability to do a discounted refund under certain conditions.

·1 month ago@mam98031 why would you go ON and ON about all this when the title CLEARLY states that the 'buyer opened a 'Changed My Mind' reason??
@neojapanvideo You do NOT have to accept.
Deny and Move On. Do NOT worry about 'feedback'. You might be able to remove it and what is MOST important is MOST people don't even know to look at feedback.
They see.
They want.
They buy.

OP1 month agothanks I offered a $35 refund for him to buy a new jewel case for his game, of he declines then im cancelling the return request, he is clearly trying to pull a move on us, he has zero feedback and thats something I wish we could avoid to sell to zero feedback costumers that buy items that cost more than $100
mam98031
·1 month agoNot all new buyers are trying to game the system nor are all new sellers trying to game all the buyers. It is a case by case basis. So don't assume a new member = a bad member. Without drawing in new buyers, sellers, in time will be in trouble as the buying pool will continue to shrink. We WANT new members. Lots of them, all the time. But you are correct, we must be careful and watch out for ourselves too.

·1 month agoI went "on and on" about NOTHING. I made ONE post. There is no need for you to agree with my post, that is simply not required. Why you felt the need to post this is only something you know. It is neither factual or helpful. Seems you are trying to start a conflict that is complete unnecessary. My opening statement in the ONE post I made was "The KEY is what reason the buyer selected when they filed for the return. That is VERY important info. If they selected a buyer remorse reason and you have a no return policy, you can decline the return as @inhawaii explained." How does that differ from what you have said???
As to what the OP said. Yes, you may be correct, the buyer may have filed the INAD for a buyer remorse reason. We have had many sellers come to the threads stating this was the reason the buyer opened the INAD, but when more info is supplied by the OP, we find out that the buyer said that in a message or the seller assumed that was the issue. The actual reason the buyer opened the INAD was for a different reason.
As to feedback. If the buyer that files an actual Buyer Remorse claim and the seller denies it and the buyer leaves negative or neutral feedback because of it and calls it out in the feedback, YES the seller can get the feedback removed for cause.
neojapanvideo
OP1 month agoHe left negative I tried to remove feedback with ebay and they denied it, reason: we reviewed the feedback and can see that the buyer found an issue with the item that wasn't described in the listing" I think the whole reason I was asking ebay to remove feedback was that exact reason he is claiming for something i did not offer!
mam98031
·1 month ago@neojapanvideo I'm glad to see that you were able to get the feedback removed. Tell us what finally worked for in your efforts to get it removed please.

·1 month agoThe "Very Good" condition you selected includes this text in your listing:
"An item that is used but still in very good condition. No damage to the jewel case or item cover, no scuffs, scratches, cracks, or holes. The cover art and liner notes are included. The VHS or DVD box is included. The video game instructions and box are included. The teeth of disk holder are undamaged. Minimal wear on the exterior of item. No skipping on CD/DVD. No fuzzy/snowy frames on VHS tape. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections."
I think that's bad wording on eBay's part since you did put it in the Manuals, Inserts & Box Art category, but it means that if eBay looks at the listing (or especially if it's just an AI scan of the listing), the feedback does seem to address an issue not properly disclosed in the listing.
Have you tried a chat with eBay customer support, after doing the automated feedback request tool? Either here on the site with the Help & Contact link (that's my preferred method) or via Instagram?

·1 month agoTimmy usually doesn't have enough money to risk to return such items in the first place.
However I would accept the return. if his intent was truly to scam you then he could have filed item not as described and automatically won, while if you don't accept the return than Timmy might still charge it back and good luck fighting that.

·1 month agoYou are probably correct, but I do will not offer anything that Timmy wants, I'll sell it to someone in the business at a wholesale price who can sell it to Timmy, because I hate situations like this.
And get off my lawn!!!
