Fee's going up, just say no
"Finally, as we continue to invest in our marketplace to ensure you have the resources you need to grow your business and increase buyer reach, increasing costs in the market have made it necessary for us to adjust our per-order fee. "
You would not have to add more fees to sellers that get passed onto buyers if you fixed the cart so YOU EBAY does not lose anymore sellers sales which in turn would generate more than enough fees to "cover" your increased costs....it is real easy just to pile more fees onto sellers, than to fix your problem that would generate plenty of fees as well as more sales for the sellers and happy buyers....

·2 years agoIts 10 cents. If it is more than your listings will tolerate, raise your pricing.
500 transactions will cost you an additional $50 in fees. 1,000 transactions would be $100, etc.
It could have been so much worse!

·2 years agoCan't say no without not selling, and we have no reason to do that. eBay is still the best place to sell many types of items, by far. This small fee increase isn't going to do much to our bottom line.

·2 years agoIt is not clear that Ebay would miss any seller who would be seriously impacted by a 10 cent fee increase.
Many of the problems this site has are too many sellers and too many listings. Losing some low end sellers might lower some expenses and raise Ebay's profits.
I know that some other marketplace sites would have estimated the costs and benefits. I am never sure whether Ebay has the same high quality bean counters.

It will probably not be popular to say this but some hard truths need to be stated. I have a selling account with decent sales and I really doubt I am even going to notice a decrease of $.10 per sale in my take-home.
As for the scaling (I saw someone extrapolate 5,000,000 sales with $.10 added on = $500,000 for Ebay) I am also fine with that. If my role in it is just to donate $.10 per sale I can live with it. Imagine if there were far fewer sales on the site - the necessary upcharge would be a LOT higher than $.10 per sale.
There is also the frog in boiling water analogy - we will not notice a big upcharge if it is doled out in $.10 increments or similar mini-increases. That is probably true - but like any other forum if a better option comes along then we will all eventually migrate there (wherever 'there' is).
Ebay could better spend their time fixing the many software bugs and things that simply do not work right - but our reminding them of that will go about as far as our complaining about a $.10 per sale price increase. So it is not something anyone likes - but one should understand from being around here long enough that Ebay is not really interested in our opinion. Nor are they expecting that a price increase is going to generate anything but vociferous complaints. So I am just going to skip the complaining and get back to working on new listings.

·2 years agoWhen fees go up , you adjust the cost of the item or shipping to absorb the cost of fees.
