Feedback removal simply stating "Expensive"
How is "expensive" valid feedback? Can this be disputed for removal? Other seller has the same bulbs for 30% more too! Everything is expensive now, it's not my fault!

OP1 year agoThe buyer revised their feedback to positive! Yeah!

Since tariffs and inflation are "outside the control of the seller" price related feedback should be removed by ebay. Period! Especially when the item is $4.95! "OUTSIDE SELLER CONTROL" is listed as an option for removal when you submit feedback removal request.

EBay should remove feedback related to pricing IMHO. No explanation is necessary as this is common sense.
EBay shouldn't send messages to sellers when they request feedback removal for price complaints with an erroneous explaination, also common sense. The feedback says Expensive and ebay responds and says "the buyer found and issue wirh the item that wasn't described in the listing". So we're supposed to put in the item description that a a dollar item is expensive?
Icing on the cake as I was typing this, I got a survey request from ebay lol. When I submitted, it failed.
The common theme here is failed. 🙂
Off to enjoy this beautiful day!

·1 year agoIt isn't.
As it's a review of the item, not actual feedback about the seller and the service they provided.

·1 year agoHi @actormike
That is the kind of feedback that is likely to earn you sympathy … especially with the classy Reply you left. I think it will end up being more helpful than hurtful to you … especially when someone sees the price of the item. [Sheesh! I’ve paid over $20 for a single halogen light bulb locally.]
Irrational feedback will usually hurt a seller’s feelings … but I doubt it will hurt your sales in the slightest. I hope you will realize that soon so that it stops bothering you. Your feedback is EFFIN’ AWESOME! 😊

OP1 year agoThanks! It's hard to believe I started selling on eBay 26 years ago! I remember the buyer/seller feedback retaliation days.
My son was a baby then, and now he's about to be a dad Himself! Back in the day, I went to all the target stores and bought ever single Pokémon Gold, Ruby etc gameboy cartridge. AMZ sold out and back then anyone could list them as well. For some reason, I can remember sending the flat rate USPS priority mail for $3.85.
The guy bought two bulbs for less than 10 bucks. Lol If I find out who he is, going to ban him from our forum too. Lol
I've been helping people restore these vintage slot cars for about 3 years and suddenly, this year the Facebook page went viral -https://www.facebook.com/share/15fhhctVF8/

·1 year agoFeedback is an increasingly irrelevant issue - I doubt eBay is going to divert resources to develop an evaluation matrix and then implement it, and then devote more resources to all of the people who want exceptions or who disagree. All for something that maybe 30-35% of site users even use and which doesn't affect metrics at all.
Since it couldn't be removed, you turned it to your advantage.
I have a neut that says the buyer found the remote and so canceled the sale. Oh, well.

I'd have worn that neutral with a smile. And like the cheese, I'd have let it stand alone... with no reply. But that's just me...

·1 year agoWhile tempting for sure, IDK that a flip remark is going to do anything to help the sellers situation. Some buyers in fact may not like a flip remark. But leaving the one word feedback alone says far more about the buyer than the seller. It is just harmless on its own.
actormike
OP1 year agoAlready got a response that doesn't even apply to the feedback SMH. The feedback says "Expensive" how does the reply below even make any sense? LOL
Our decision
We reviewed the feedback and can see that the buyer found an issue with the item that wasn't described in the listing.
For this reason, the feedback was not removed. Just so you know, this feedback will not impact your seller performance level.

·1 year agoCan you file an appeal?
mam98031
·1 year agoThere is no requirement for feedback to make sense. That simply is not required.
You can file an appeal, but I don't see the outcome any differently. They just didn't say anything that breaches one of the rules.
I know you may feel it falls into one of the reasons for removal, but even stretching the imagination will not make that one word feedback comply with a rule that breaches the policy.

actormike
OP1 year agoI don't see anywhere that allows you to file an appeal. Is there a link?
The fact the feedback says "Expensive" and Ebay (likely A.I.) responded back and said "the buyer found an issue with the item that wasn't described in the listing, shows how jacked up the system is in general.
Really dumb and makes no sense. They've been limping along for years.
mam98031
·1 year agoThere is not a specific place. You have to contact Ebay to do that.
I agree, the auto version of asking for a feedback to be removed, is usually AI, especially if the ruling comes back that quick.
But with that said, it simply does not break any rule. Buyers are entitled to their opinion. In their opinion they feel it was an expensive item yet they still purchased it. But still their opinion and it is highly unlikely to be removed.
"...shows how jacked up the system is in general." I don't know what has brought you to this conclusion. I think it may be that you are taking this feedback way too hard. It is harmless and will not do you any harm at all.
"They've been limping along for years." That seems to be a bit of an odd statement as well. How are they "limping along"? Have you looked at their financial statements for the last few years? If they are "limping along", I would certainly like to be in that position with that type of income they generate.

On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://twitter.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/ebay
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

OP1 year ago"...shows how jacked up the system is in general." I don't know what has brought you to this conclusion.
Simple, they responded and erroneously stated "The buyer found an issue with the item that wasn't described in the listing" Obviously the price is described in the listing.
"They've been limping along for years." How are they "limping along"?
The response above for denying the feedback removal makes no sense. That is the best they can do? Other bidding systems for cars like Bring A Trailer, will extend the auction if there are last minute bids. How much money have sellers and eBay lost by not doing this as well? Instead of doing this, they tried suing Sniper Bidding apps and lost. The site pretty much looks and feels the same way for 20 years and no real changes other than increasing fees, which looks good for now on earnings, but has opened the door for competition.

·1 year agoOK, then name the rule in the Feedback policy that they breached. That is required to get it removed, so what rule did they go against. That would make is a slam dunk during your appeal if you name the rule.

OP1 year ago>>OK, then name the rule in the Feedback policy that they breached.
This kind of discussion that diverts from Ebay sending messages that don't apply probably go on inside these big companies. Instead of sending messages that say "The buyer found an issue with the item that wasn't described in the listing" in this case, the price, which is really dumb, eBay could send a message back simply saying it doesn't violate any policies listed at- https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-policies/feedback-policies?id=4208.
So yes, they are limping along. Easily solved issue.

·1 year agoFirstly, you are taking this way too personally. If you plan to be in business, you need to remove your personal feelings and concentrate on your sales as a business. What would Walmart do? Until you can separate feelings from business, you will never be successful in selling anywhere. I learned that two decades ago. Just my take. You are wasting valuable time - yours. Nice videos that you add to your listings. Good luck!

·1 year agoAgain, counterintuitive but remember AI (artificial ignorance) is steering all of this.
That being said, it would not surprise me one bit if AI scanned your listing and ruled in the buyers feedback because nowhere in the listing do you include the words: "expensive"
Therefore, as nowhere in the listing can the term "expensive" be found, the customer complaining in feedback that the item was "expensive" is deemed valid.
Not unlike if the listing didn't mention the item was "red" when the item was red.
Crazy. You bet.
This possibility would in no way surprise me.
mam98031
·1 year agoThere is actually a team that is assigned to review feedback revision requests. But when they aren't available the AI will rule on the Auto process to ask for removing the Feedback.
All appeals of any kind are always reviewed by a real person.
That isn't likely the reason the AI denied the OP to have the FB removed. It is more likely because the feedback did NOT breach one of the rules.
If you feel it should have been removed, what Feedback rule did it breach? I gave a link to the policy in post # 13. If it doesn't violate one of those rules whether it is AI or a real person reviewing it, the feedback would not be removed.
pastimpressions
·1 year agoI understand your frustration.
As counterintuitive as it may be, the feedback would likely be deemed an "opinion" & thus valid feedback.
Fair? No.
Was the price prior to purchase withheld from the buyer? Of course not.
I understand that you were the lowest price on that item.
This does not preclude a buyer from complaining that the item cost too much.
Maybe buyer remorse, maybe an attempt to gain a further discount after the purchase?
Who knows.
It hurts your ethical pride as a seller (I understand), but it won't hurt your selling.
As others have already stated, it will reflect poorly on the buyer & not you.
Best of luck with shop & sales.

OP1 year agoI agree, but that's not the question. Will ebay remove that type of feedback? I think it could qualify is "out of my control" because of inflation etc.
I just filed for a feedback removal and will update the results!
Also blocked the buyer as well.

Since it's a neutral, most members won't even pay any attention to it

OP1 year agoIt's not expensive though. LOL I have the cheapest ones available on ebay which is why they bought them another seller charges 30% more for 2- https://www.ebay.com/itm/203794392746
I bet that ebay will remove it! I'm mainly curious, I agree it has zero impact.

I know it is frustrating to see that neutral feedback on your account. I really do, but that feedback is not going to hurt your account in any way nor is it likely to hurt your sales at all. A buyer that may look at your feedback before purchasing from you would see that post as total nonsense. They decided to purchase from you, if that buyer thought the item was expensive, they simply should not have purchased from you.
You are fine. Try not to worry about it. I know that is easier said than done. But really you are just fine.
