Feedback for buyer
Previously sellers have the option to choose Positive, Negative, or Neutral when leaving a feedback to a buyer. But now the only option is to select Positive for the buyer. However, buyers still have these three options when leaving feedback for sellers. That is not right.

My guess is you are looking to leave a negative response for the buyer of your Hello Kitty clock? I’m sure you tested it before you shipped it. However, how are you sure it did not get damaged during shipping? Per eBay policy and common sense it is ALWAYS the seller’s responsibility to get the item to the buyer who bought it in the condition it was described in the listing. That is what insurance is for.
If you shipped it USPS Priority or UPS they both come with $100.00 insurance. I would refund the buy and file a claim with the shipper. The insurance covers the shipper and the shipper has to file the claim.

·3 years ago"(-) This hello kitty clock is not how it was described. The cord is bad and you have to jiggle it to get it to work. The night light does not work and the radio does not work. Would cost me too much to return so my loss."
The main reason for the negative feedback is you wanted them to pay for shipping and they were unaware of the fact that that's not on them, so felt robbed in a way. If you would have offered a shipping label they might have sent it back intact. I see some bad intent on both sides here.

·3 years agoNot a problem.
You can just continue to violate eBay policy by leaving bad comments with a + rating until eBay dings your account for doing it.

·3 years agoeBay should allow sellers to leave NEUTRAL feedback for, say, buyers who do not pay after bidding and winning or buyers who scam the system and rip sellers off. At least offer that so that sellers can't necessarily retaliate against buyers who leave negative feedback. It won't hurt their rating. When I first started on eBay as a buyer I left a neutral for a seller who charged me for 2 day shipping and she shipped the item 11 days later. She in return left me a negative. That's what was happening when eBay switched it up and changed to only allow positives for buyers.

·3 years agoIt is right.
Do you put up a 2'x3' poster in your front yard, when having a garage sale, of the 'around the corner neighbor' face with 'bad customer' written on it?
Does Walmart put up the same in the front window of the store?
You don't 'badmouth' customers. Not publicly, anyway.

·3 years agoYour opinion would only be relevant if ebay had a seller protection program.
It's about accountibility. Ebay is neither a walmart or garage sale.
It's a genre all it's own.
Sellers should be able to state the truth about a buyer.
If buyer didn't do anything wrong, then there would be no need to "badmouth".
If they did, then there should be consequences. There is none except, you can block them.
But that doesn't fix the problem, if for example they scammed you out of money.
How do you warn sellers of a buyer if you can't leave a negative?

·3 years agoYou are are spot on.Feedback should be as you state. Sellers should be able to leave an honest opinion about a buyer, just as buyer can about a seller. A level and fair playing field is always best.

My opinion is the one that this site, and most all others, use...and it's NOT Opinion. it's fact of a professional business that relies on 'selling' things to the general public.
There are MANY immature and/or unprofessional 'sellers' out there that will badmouth a buyer for
a.) revenge to a return
b.) retaliation for a feedback
So who's to say the seller is telling the truth?? Many didn't. That's why it's now banned (negs to buyers)
Also, this venue is NO DIFFERENT than a Garage Sale or Walmart.
Buyers buy things at ALL these venues and ALL THESE venues want buyers to come and/or comeback.
You don't want them coming into your store? or to your garage sale? or to ebay to buy? You can 'tell them in person' or, at this venue; block them.
Finally- there IS seller protections, that is a compromise, which has to be because of A. & B. above. Plus, you can 'block' them from further business.

·3 years agoThere are consequences for buyers who do not pay. It is up to sellers to use the non-payment strike. That benefits sellers far more than a blurb left in feedback that few will see.
In many sales, the seller will not know who the buyer will be prior to the transaction. No way to vet the buyer by checking feedback.
But the Buyer Requirement system acts automatically to block serial non-payers from having access to seller listings who set their BR up to do so. That is an effective way to manage poor buyer behavior. It doesn't require vetting every sale or potential sale.
Feedback is for buyers to vet sellers. It is not set up as a way for sellers to warn others of bad behavior among buyers.

·3 years agoFeedback is not used by eBay to assess member accounts.
The Claims process is.
If your buyer loses a Dispute for Not Received (because you supplied Proof of Delivery) or for Not As Described (because he didn't return the disputed item for refund) this is noted.
We occasionally see angry posts from buyers who can no longer use the Money Back Guarantee. More often we see posts from buyers who cannot bid because sellers have opted to Block bidders with Strikes for Unpaid Items.
That Block can be specific from a seller who no longer wants to deal with that customer or the more general Automatic Block on deadbeats with UID Strikes.

·3 years agoSellers do have the option of blocking a buyer or bidder in future purchases. I have had a few buyers come back to ask me why they can't buy or bid on my items.

Sellers have not been able to leave neutral or negative feedback for buyers since May 19, 2008--15 years ago.
I suspect you'd like to leave negative feedback in retaliation for a buyer leaving you negative feedback. That's one of the main reasons eBay took that option away from sellers.

·3 years agoIt has been easily 12 or more years since sellers were allowed to leave negative feedback for buyers.
