Feedback and phone and chat
Well ebay phone support is at 11:50 AM saying that is past operating hours.
So I have to chat.
Buyer supplies wrong address and asks us to ship to a different one. Reported buyer. Cancelled sale and told them to re-purchase with the proper address. Buyer insisted that it was my fault the wrong address showed up. Weeks later leaves neutral.
Chat sends me to the new feedback removal request.
I have complete confidence that even this simple and obvious removal will be denied.
Used to be a simple 2 minute phone call.

OP2 years agoebay did me right. Its gone.
Instead of one 2 minute call it was several calls and a trip through the useless feedback removal tool.
Positive steps.

Why are you even wasting time on trying to get feedback removed when you over 50 thousand positive feedback responses.
No one but you will care about one non positive comment.

OP2 years agoFinally got ahold of an Anchor CSR.
I was using the wrong phone and ebay and didn't recognize my phone number so I got the runaround.
CSR told me manual removal is coming back and that she would run this up the chain to be removed since it qualifies for removal under buyer error.
Positive steps ebay, positive steps.

·2 years agoI'll believe it when I see it. Not questioning you, just what you were told. Hopefully it was true, but I've heard too many things told by CSRs to sellers that didn't end up being true to trust it until you know if you actually get it removed. (If I'm seeing the same one, it appears to still be there, and I agree it should be removed.)

OP2 years agoI tend to believe my Anchor Store CSRs.
Never had a wrong turn with one yet.
She said it was near end of day for her shift so it might not go through until Monday.
I'm going to remain hopeful but she agreed both that the new feedback removal tool was broken nonsense and that the neutral feedback should not be allowed to stay.

·2 years agoHopefully you're right, and definitely I would agree that should be someone who could be more easily believed! Let us know what happens!

OP2 years agoSo far no good. Looks like another call.

·2 years agoI want to clear something up...
You may have cancelled a sale that wasn't the buyer's fault.
There is an ongoing scam where members are trolling recently sold items through search, and then messaging the seller with the "change of address" request, but the member messaging the seller is NOT the buyer!
The seller often doesn't realize the two are not the same, thinks it is the buyer making this request and cancels the sale. Unfortunately ....
And I say unfortunately because now another whole can of worms opens up:
Unfortunately we have drop shippers who, when their supplier is "out of stock" also cancel sales for reason "Buyer Asked / Problem with address" and thus ebay no longer denies a buyer the ability to leave neutral / negative feedback and there's a good chance, since you cancelled this buyer's sale for that reason that ebay isn't taking a particularly positive view on this.
That said the real reason ebay denied the removal request is quite simply because the feedback did not violate policy, however let it also be known to sellers that merely cancelling a buyer's purchase for reason "Buyer Asked / Problem with buyer's address" no longer prevents that buyer from leaving neutral / negative feedback, not even reporting the buyer prevents that so think twice before cancelling a sale.
The outcome...
ALWAYS double check those message ID's to make SURE it is actually your buyer asking you to change the address, by comparing the message ID with the item's buyer purchase ID.

·2 years agoThat has been around for a long time. Sellers have to stay on their toes. If the seller receives an email from a buyer by a different name and/or Ebay ID than the transaction was sold to, the seller should catch that. That is part of the seller's job to see this and question it.
It is not just drop shippers that abuse the cancellation system. Another thing that has been around for a long time, which is why Ebay has started to crack down on sellers that abuse the cancellation system. I encourage any member that experiences this to report their seller to Ebay.

·2 years agoI wouldn't exactly call this "staying on your toes" but more like staying "not lying in your bed face down." 😀

OP2 years agoJust I expected, removal denied.
Thaks for your stellar new feedback removal tool ebay.
What a joke.
mam98031
·2 years agoYes, it is hard to get an FB removed that doesn't break any rule. I respect why you want it removed, but the buyer has to say something that is against policy and they simply didn't.
theteamsetguy
·2 years ago@monster-deals ,
What rule did the buyer break?
You did cancel the order. Did you not?
monster-deals
OP2 years agoAsking to ship to an address other than provided.
That's a no-no.
You are certainly free to accept whatever abuse buyers hurl at you, I neither feel the same way nor do I wish it upon you.
Yes I cancelled the sale. Problem with buyer's address...which there was.
Pretty cut and dry, nuts and bolts kinda stuff here
mam98031
·2 years agoIt does not break any rule for a buyer to ask if the seller will ship to a different address than appears on the Order. However if the seller complies it is the seller that assumes the risk as they lose any Seller protection they may have on the order.
So you are correct, sellers should never comply, but the buyer is not breaking any rule by asking, nor does it make them an abusive buyer.
Cancelling the sale using the reason as problem with the buyer's address is a good move and protects the seller.
monster-deals
OP2 years agoIt is literally one of the main reasons to report a buyer, so yes, it is breaking policy
Leaving bad feedback for their own error absolutely is abusive buying behavior.
It isn't anything BUT.
Problem with buyers address and messages proving they had the wrong address and blaming me for that so far has not protected me from anything.
mam98031
·2 years agoOK, I'm willing to learn something new. Please provide a link to the policy that says it is a break in the policy for a buyer to ask the seller to ship to a different address than appears on the order.
Feedback is a separate issue. Did you just cancel or did you explain to the buyer why you needed to cancel and give them an option of repurchasing the item and updating their ship to address?
mam98031
·2 years agoThe automated FB removal function is not new. It is however the 1st step Ebay would like us to take when trying to have FB removed.
Usually the findings from the automated feature is known to the seller in a short period of time. Have you still not received a response?

·2 years agoWhy do you need to call or chat with eBay?
Can't you just use the feedback removal tool?
I have never needed to call eBay to remove feedback with that tool.
monster-deals
OP2 years agoI mean ebay may surprise me and do the right thing but I would not bet money on that...not with this near useless tool.

·2 years agoNot useless I've had quite a few negative and neutral feedback removed with it.
One as recently as a few weeks ago.
But you can do it the way you want..I was just offering a suggestion.

OP2 years agoI have had zero positive outcomes across multiple accounts with even the easiest to remove feedback.
I still used it here but I have no faith in it.
dare-2046
·2 years agoPip, that feedback @pwalker312 can't be removed as it doesn't vibrate/violate policy.
In fact, it doesn't even say what you say it says.

·2 years agoI have a major dispute with Buyer - sale purchase Feb.28, 2024. Buyer posted negative rating stating the Yo-Yo he purchased fell aprt on first use. I offered a full money back refund when he sent back the item. He refused posted a negative review and stated that he would not return the item because I would turn around sell it again and scam & cheat another person. There is something really wrong with this person.

NEVER ever post your own phone number on a public forum! (I've redacted it in my quote of your post.)

·2 years agoI offered a full money back refund when he sent back the item.
That option was available to him whether you offered it or not.
He refused posted a negative review
Buyers are not required to return items in order to leave negative feedback. In fact, for some buyers having to return an item requires visiting a post office during work hours and would only make a negative experience even worse.
mam98031
·2 years agoWhile your back story on this certainly would be concerning as a seller. What the buyer actually said in the FB they left for you does not break any rule, so it would not get removed. They have to say something in the FB in most cases that breaks one of the FB rules.
iamalwaysright
·2 years agoAh, the old yo-yo scam. One of the classics. Surprised there's still people around peddling that shenanigan nowadays.
