Experiences With eBay Payment Timeliness
Summary: dr.br_0 expressed frustration over delayed payment for a phone sold on eBay, highlighting concerns about not receiving funds despite the buyer having the item. dhbookds and tobaccocardyahoo explained that new sellers often experience payment holds as a security measure, which is common across various platforms. slippinjimmy and mam98031 advised dr.br_0 to review eBay's policies on payment holds and suggested that understanding these terms is essential before selling. The discussion emphasizes the need to be informed about marketplace policies to avoid surprises.
I sold an I sold an expensive phone on eBay, the buyer has had the phone for over a week yet my funds have still not been transferred to my bank account or my debit card, and they keep pushing the date back ,and I notice it says you it could take up to 30 days, This is ridiculous the person has my property but I don't have my money. they said oh it will be available on the 2nd and the 3rd then the 4th now the 8th, I have no way of getting my money or my property back because they keep stalling, what can I do about this? I am just through with eBay, I went through this company because I was done with Facebook Marketplace and the scammers, now I'm being scammed by the very company I changed to.

I always encourage new sellers to do their homework BEFORE starting to list on Ebay. It is a JOB and should be treated as such. For the very basics, you should be reading the User Agreement you agreed to so that you could start selling on this site. As well as policy pages on HOW TO list an item as well as the policy pages on how your money is processed. These are just the basics. Lots more to learn, but you really should do your homework BEFORE listing your first item.
When funds will be available
You can see when your funds will be released in Seller Hub or My eBay. However, your funds may be unavailable for longer if we have concerns about the order.
Here are some situations where transaction holds could be applied to a seller's funds and when those funds would typically be released.
A brand-new private seller
New private sellers will typically receive their funds within 2 days after delivery confirmation (for items sent with an ebay label), 7 days after delivery confirmation (for items sent with a third-party label), or 31 days after the buyer pays (for items sent without tracking) while they build a consistent track record. Once they've qualified to receive their funds faster, they'll typically receive their funds within 2 days of the buyer’s payment.

OP1 month agoThank you I wish I was told that beforehand. I would not have sold here. I sold the phone to purchase a birthday gift. You live and you learn I guess. Thank you.

·1 month agoNew sellers on other marketplaces are faced with similar holds, and even new users of PayPal face holds.
There are many surprises in the web of trust and safety measures affecting online sales.
It has been a long time since one could count on a single sale on the internet to generate quick cash.
