ESE Item says delivered — buyer saying hasn’t received it
Hello! I sold a patch via ESE. It’s showing as delivered on eBay, but buyer is claiming it hasn’t arrived. I understand ESE doesn’t have true “tracking” like first class, but buyer is asking me to tell him who handled the package (Ive told only the USPS since its just metered mail)
From my end, everything is showing delivered as normal. He did fail to put his exact apartment letter (it’s a duplex) , and I will message him to confirm that a neighbor didn’t receive his mail.
Should I advise him to submit an INR claim? Will a refund have to come out of my funds?
thanks in advance!

·6 months agoSince you mailed it with Ebay Standard Envelope, you will get a refund.
- First explain the buyer that when it shows delivered it means it reached the destination sorting center, not the buyer's address.
What I usually do, on very rare occasions, 3-4 times in several years:
- I email the buyer to explain how ESE tracking works. I tell them they should get the item soon or it will be returned to me if something wrong with the address. I tell the buyer that I am refunding them for the item immediately and ask to let me know if they receive it later. Or I will let them know if it is returned to me so they can buy it again.
- After 15 days, I complete the Insurance using www.pip-claim.com Just follow instructions.
I usually am reimbursed within 2-3 days. Last time, I sent the wrong screenshot twice. They emailed me each time. I corrected and got my refund right away.
I like the convenience of ESE.

·6 months agoWe use ESE often and this is extremely common.
You may ease the buyers pain buy letting them know USPS scans these delivered early before they actually go out and they almost always show up within 1-3 days.
Make sure they know it is normal and the item will still arrive.

·6 months agoESE is First Class Letter Mail.
Metered mail is irrelevant.
First Class Letter Mail is not tracked. ESE has an unreliable tracking method. The delivery scan is performed at a sorting center, not when the item is delivered, not even when it is delivered to the buyer's PO.
There can be a delay in delivery.
Results with ESE are highly dependent on how you pack. Annoying messages from buyers who haven't gotten their deliveries are not uncommon and come with the low price.
ESE is insured, but you will have to file a claim (more time wasted) after you refund the buyer.

·6 months agoI have one hanging out there in no tracking info limbo, along with seller who opened INR....
I understand the low cost, however what I don't understand is the fact that this platform depends on both buyers/sellers ends on tracking information....at why they would implement it in the 1st place.

·6 months agoThey implemented it because of the huge number of claims being opened by trading card customers buying cards being shipped with stamps and then claiming to not get them. I worked at a card store doing the ebay account back when everything was stamp and envelope. A full 10 percent of our Pokemon customers claimed to not recieve the card, 3 percent of our Magic the Gathering customers claimed the same thing. However I never had a single claim of non-delivery from a sports card customer.
When standard envelope started the claim numbers were about the same for the first month, then they started dropping off rapidly. However this time, all those Pokemon and magic customers were making claims on things that were obviously being delivered.
If it shows delivered then you will win the item not recieved claim. Period. I probably had 100 of them from Pokemon customers in the first 2 months of standard envelope and I won every single one of them. Your customer is at fault here anyway for not having a complete address on their account.
The insurance doesn't factor in, you can only claim that for damage or if the tracking never shows delivered.

·6 months agoThere is a catch to filing a claim with the ESE system, initially you follow their instructions and upload what they ask for and file it. You assume it is completed and will soon get refunded...not so, 1st they do not notify you thru the ebay message system, you have to catch it in your emails. It tells you the claim was denied because you failed to upload proof you refunded the buyer! Yet they never asked for it in the 1st place. 2nd when an INR case is opened how can you show proof of refund until the case is closed...sound like a sneaky scam...had the have ebay refund a summers worth and remove all the ESE INR dings from account.....

The "Delivered" notification on ESE shipments indicates that the ESE has been delivered to the post office matching the ZIP Code of the buyer's address -- NOT the buyer's residence address.
The ESE will probably be delivered to the buyer within a few business days.

·6 months agoAs long as you shipped to the address on the order, and tracking shows its been delivered, you have done everything correct on your end. If the buyer decides to open an INR, simply upload the tracking info to it showing its been delivered. eBay will in most cases close it in the sellers favor without making the seller have to provide a refund.

·6 months agoAs it is an apartment...it probably went to the wrong person or an apartment pirate took it if it was in the lobby sitting around to be picked up.
It got scanned as 'delivered' with the address that eBay showed...thus that's it.
'INR' claim for a porch(apartment) pirate?...No
