Entitled Buyer Feedback ... *SMH*
Am I crazy? I'm left a bit speechless at what I see as the pure entitlement of some buyers.
For the record ... every package I ship gets one of those eBay branded THANK YOU postcards with a handwritten "Thank you" and signed.
Also, in case anyone is wondering, the "good money" spent was $110.

·3 years agoI'd laugh and just block (if I felt like it). This isn't even worth a second thought - you get all kinds in this business - some people do give freebies, but this person made a fool of themselves expecting one. The FB started by praising your items and that's all you need. Anyone else looking at it will probably sprain their eyeballs rolling them.
Don't worry about it.
BTW, the theoretical response you mentioned was funny, but I'd leave it alone.

·3 years agoI always appreciate a little freebie tossed in, and I thank the seller personally. I NEVER mention it in the feedback, even in a positive way. I don't want other buyers to come to expect it.

OP3 years agoNow that is the right attitude. Some sellers throw freebies in for every buyer. Some sellers throw freebies in for certain value orders or repeat customers. You appreciate it, but I assume you don't expect it. You also are clear about not wanting others to come to expect it.

·3 years agoThanks for making me laugh twice! 😃
Once about this recent feedback.
Once for an older negative feedback where the buyer accuses you of not being "horney". LOL

·3 years agoYou get all types on here. Ultra appreciative people, spoiled entitled people etc. Move on at least it was a positive. Anybody seeing that feedback is going to roll their eyes. Nothing is usually EVER FREE.

·3 years agoYep, same as everyone else so far - WOW!
I see that the buyer is a newbie and maybe a teenager. So, this newbie seems to have gotten spoiled fast by a seller who sent freebies. Check the buyer's feedback to see if they have left similar feedback for anyone else. Regardless, the buyer will eventually get enough experience to realize what a *bleeeep* they were to even mention wanting extras from you.
Now, as to whether you are crazy - I maintain that no one worth knowing is completely sane and all of us sellers are at least a little crazy...

·3 years agoYou do have to be 18 to have an Ebay account. So if a teenager, a late teen.

OP3 years agoAccount created Nov 2021. Feedback seems to indicate only became active this past two weeks or less. Four feedbacks (5 now actually).
Left identical "complaint" about another seller. Will keep an eye on the account (out of curiosity) to see if there are further complaints. I know a couple sellers that send "gifts" (let's be honest, they are usually junk coins from the bottom of the dealer's junk drawer ... junk wheat pennies or worthless foreign coins.) Best "gift" I ever received was decent, a (cheap) loupe/magnifier. Actually kinda nice because it's my spare.
Can't wait to see how many times the buyer complains til they realize the "gift" was a one-off and not a regular thing.

·3 years agoI'd block this person.
At least they did start it off with positive product and shipping.
I wonder if they are used to a different platform. Someone told me they buy from Etsy or something and always get extras.

·3 years agoThey would stop if they got a little education on FB and how it works. But unless some sellers report them, Ebay will not know they need a little education.

·3 years agoI'd mention that to CS if requesting FB removal as indication of a pattern of abuse.

·3 years agoSome Rube left FB about shipping on mine too.
Ebays buyers are becoming entitled monsters and ebay don't care!
mam98031
·3 years agoDid you report the buyer @craft-stash ? If not, how was Ebay to know? Not everything is Ebay's fault.

I'm closing up shop!

·3 years agoIMHO, that looks removable: Buyer complaining about item not included in the sale. Worth a try to get it removed. It's not doing you any particular benefit by remaining there.
mam98031
·3 years agoEbay typically doesn't remove positive FB.
I would however report the buyer.

·3 years agoI've had at least 5 positive rated FB removed the past year and a half with practically zero effort. A single message to CS citing the policy violated and poof, gone.
If the FB bothers the OP I'd suggest they first report the buyer, and after that contact CS saying the buyer is demanding something not included in the listing and was reported, then ask for the FB to be removed.
If CS agrees with removal they will replace the comment with a dash and leave the pos rating.
mam98031
·3 years agoVery interesting, thank you. They use to not do that as I remember trying a couple of times. But glad it worked out for you.
wastingtime101
·3 years agoNo prob. It hasn't been an issue for several years if the buyer is violating policy.
But I do remember back in the day eBay wouldn't touch pos FB unless it contained profanity.
rugerskick
·3 years agoThey could modify the feedback, though.
But in reality, its actually a good thing, it lets people know about the buyer from their own words.
mam98031
·3 years agoYes. If there is reason to do it. Foul language, calling people names, etc.

·3 years agoAsking for or expecting additional items to be included isn’t just bad form, it violates eBay policy. He was smart to leave a positive. If it were a negative rating, his account could be duly noted for such a blatant violation found in the Abusive Buyer policy.

“If a buyer is making demands that are not a part of your original listing, you will be protected from negative feedback and defects when you either deliver the item purchased by the buyer according to the original terms of your listing, or cancel the transaction.
To help us identify buyers who are engaging in unacceptable buying behaviors, please report the abusive behavior - opens in new window or tab.“

·3 years agoIt was a positive feedback so no need not dwell on the comment. You can laugh it off as most here have and as most potential buyers will who bother to notice it.

OP3 years agoAgreed. Scary to see the mindsets and attitudes that evolve on here though as buyer entitlement seems to be on an upward trend. (Purely anecdotal). It's the little things, but it seems to be there, and getting worse.
Also had a super nice message from a different buyer today. Never spoke with this buyer before, they just left a "note to seller" in the box at checkout. Made a point to mention they appreciate all my time and efforts. (Again, never once spoke to or interacted with this person). Just a nice random note left at checkout.
Take the good with the bad.

OP3 years agoBecause professionalism .... because I don't want to draw attention to this feedback ... and because I don't want to validate it or give it credence...I won't do it....
BUT my response to this feedback really wants to be:
"I'm so sorry, if you want the "Thank You" Gift package next time, please make sure to select that option at checkout. It's an additional $9.95".
ajs_coins_and_alchemy
OP3 years ago^^^^ OK, that's the most professional response I'd like to give... the rest... well... my mother taught me better.

mam98031
·3 years agoWell that is certainly a buyer I'd block and I don't block buyers easily. That is simply ridiculous. But that FB says far more about them and their bad behavior than anything else.
I use a business card that has in big font on the from Thank you in all my packages, but that is not likely what that buyer was looking for.
