Enrolled in Ebay International Selling??
I just got a notification from Ebay that I have been enrolled in the International Selling program. I don't ship outside the US and I don't like the fact that Ebay can enroll me in something without my knowledge or consent. What do I need to do to "unenroll" myself?

I only wish all my sales were EIS.
Lower risk.

·8 months agoI have never heard of anyone being enrolled without consenting to it, Are you sure you did not accidentally check the box or something?

·8 months agoI was auto-enrolled on all of my selling accounts around the time when the program started. I had to opt out on each once until I was able to monitor this board and determine whether the program delivered as promised.

·8 months agoMany eBay programs are opt in only, but EIS has been automatically added to sellers accounts when eligible all along, and they are then given the choice to opt out.

·8 months agoInstead, they stick you into this program without your knowledge and then make you jump thu hoops to get out of it.

takes about 3 clicks to get out of it,...................................... but again................................ little reason to want "out of it" from the sellers end.

·8 months agoNo one is being prevented from opting out, they simply don't know yet how. eBay makes no attempt to even make it difficult to opt out.

·8 months agoWhich is totally wrong. eBay should have made this option available to everyone who sells, not just the those who 'meet the criteria' (uneven playing field),
Ebay is footing the bill if things go wrong after delivery to the hub. They certainly should attempt to keep their costs down by trying to ensure questionable sellers-either new/or ones with bad records are kept out until they are proven reliable. To me, that is just good business sense.

"I don't ship outside the US "
And, basically, you're not.
You receive a sales notification in the same manner as you would for a domestic sale inside the U. S. -- an email from eBay announcing that you have been paid, and that you need to ship.
You prepare the item for shipping just as you would for any domestic sale, and you don't need to fill out any customs forms or figure out any additional billing information -- that will all be done by eBay, after your item has been confirmed received at the EIS hub in Illinois.
You ship the item (at regular domestic shipping rates) to the EIS hub in Illinois -- and, once EIS confirms that the item has been received by hub, your responsibility is finished: EIS takes care of the rest.
So you're actually still just shipping to a USA address -- EIS in Illinois.
Much less hassle, much fewer headaches, and NO "item not received" and "not as described" cases.
Give it a try -- what have you got to lose?

Because the EIS program is not available to everyone, I believe ebay enrolls you automatically when they have "approved" your account to be part of the program. I would take it as a compliment!
As others have mentioned, this is a great program for US sellers who aren't willing to ship internationally through regular shipping methods.

·8 months agoI forgot that Ebay sellers who have an inferior seller level rating are not eligible, which eliminates a lot of riffraff.

·8 months ago@allthingsmoody you 'worrying' about being enrolled in EIS is like you worrying about being enrolled in a $10,000 tax free-no strings attached-gift from the IRS/Treasury/US Government.
Just be happy.
More Sales- guaranteed NO returns, NO issues, NO refunds (as long as it gets the US hub, most go to Illinois)
(EIS handles ALL issues, refunds, refunds out of THIER pocket etc.)
allthingsmoody
OP8 months agoSo let me make sure I understand about returns. If an international buyer returns an item, I get the item back, Ebay refunds the buyer out of their own funds, and I get to keep the money the buyer paid me for the returned item?
stainlessenginecovers
·8 months agoYou do NOT get the item back (it goes back to EIS, sometimes, and then they sell it, burn it, who cares?0
You do NOT refund the buyer, so YOU keep the $$ for the sale.
If you are contacted by the buyer, you tell them to contact EIS
If you get a negative feedback for 'not refunding' or 'took to long'- ask ebay to remove it (they will)

You DO NOT get the item back

·8 months agoNo, you don't get the item back.
Ebay refunds the buyer and keeps the item.
You keep your payment.

·8 months agoYou apparently know nothing about the program.
Why would you want to un-enroll?
allthingsmoody
OP8 months agoI think I'm more concerned that Ebay took it upon themselves to enroll me without asking me first if I was interested. My mom used to sign me up for things and then tell me after the fact, and I had no say so in the matter, and things like that have always bothered me.

·8 months agoFirst off...reconsider your position
The ebay international program is one of the few things they have done right in the last few years...it is a "win-win" for us sellers (in most cases)
That being said, you can simply "opt-out" of EiS by going to your preferences page.

OP8 months agoMaybe I'll look into it more. I'm just leery of dealing with buying and selling from overseas (don't ask me why, I don't have a real reason other than maybe fear of the unknown lol).

·8 months agoEbay knows that many sellers are and have been leery of exporting and has removed the risks of doing so.
You have less risk in an International EIS sale than a normal domestic sale. If your shipment reaches the Ebay International Hub and complies with your listing, you have no further risk associated with the sale.
kensgiftshop
·8 months agoYou'll still ship to a US address.
The package goes to the EIS hub in the US, then Ebay takes over.
Once it reaches the hub, you're job is done.
Anything that happens after that, is on Ebay.

·8 months agoSometimes sellers have to be selfish and think about their bottom line. I only sell to make money, so it definitely is a benefit to me to have some actual protection for a change. Yes, international buyers do pay more for the shipping, but at least the item is available to purchase and they still have the money back guarantee, so I don't see a buyer lose-lose.
What makes you claim sellers don't care if their item is received or not? I can be pleased to not be on the hook if something goes wrong, but I still hope my items arrive in good order. Hopefully I can make more money with happy repeat buyers.

·8 months agoI meant that paying more is a lose, but having the item available is a win. I don't see it as a lose-lose. I see not having to worry about the item differently. It means I'm not out money as was always the case before. It doesn't mean I don't care about the item not arriving. I explained that, I want repeat customers.

·8 months agoEvery single EIS sale I have, I "care" that the buyer receives his/her item.
Caring is still allowed when you use EIS.
