Ending a listing after making offers
Hi everyone,
I have several new watchers this morning and would like to make offers. However, I am going out of town Wednesday morning, so I couldn't get the item mailed in my stated handling time, if it is purchased after Tuesday morning. Can I make offers now and end the listing Tuesday? Is it against policy or just too tacky?

·8 months ago@kensgiftshop I've not seen those posts, but don't doubt there have been. I question, however, if there was more to the story or some actual evidence that they were attempting to take the transaction off eBay.
I end and relist all the time, including items that have pending offers. Sometimes I need to edit a listing that has a pending offer, and need to end it in order to make the edit. Sometimes something sells on another platform, and I have to end it here. Do you think eBay would prefer I leave a listing up that is no longer available for sale? I don't think so.

·8 months agoI end listings all the time. At least 30% of them are items that I've sent out offers on. Sometimes I do it because I want to lower a price. Sometimes I do it because I want to raise a price. Sometimes I do it because I want to update pics. Sometimes I do it because I find an error in the title or description. Sometimes I do it because the item has sold on another site. As long as the offer hasn't been accepted, it's fair game.
There is absolutely no reason you can't end your listings whenever you like for whatever reason you like. The powers that be do not care.

·8 months agoYes, you can end a listing after you send out an offer. There is no harm whatsoever in doing that.
I have done this many times because the items with the active offers can't be edited.

·8 months agoUnless Ebay thinks you ended the listing to sell off of Ebay for a lower price.

Is that something you or someone you know has encountered here on ebay?
Because I've never heard of that happening.

·8 months agoI've never had it happen, but there have been a few post here.
Haven't heard of it happening with offers, but there's been a few that have ended a listing after some messages about the item.
Ebay charged them the FVF even though it didn't sell, through Ebay anyway.

·8 months agoHow could ebay charge a final value fee on a listing with no corresponding transaction? Without a charge to the buyer, there's no way to determine a percentage to assess the seller.

·8 months agoI know you can't change a listing while it has an active offer.
Don't know if you can end a listing with active offers?

·8 months agoI would not make any offers but set for "time away" for the duration of your travel time. If they accept it binds you. This was a wake up call for me as I have to begin planning for my granddaughter's college graduation in Atlanta.

·8 months agoNot sure if you can "end listing" after you made an offer.

·8 months agoIt's not against any policy to end a listing.
But a better idea might be to put your store in Vacation mode instead.
