I completely stopped selling AND buying on eBay. COMPLETELY. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN. I've made all of my online purchases on other platforms. Too many fees and **bleep** associated with selling on eBay. Did y'all hear about the ebay stalking scandal of 2019?

·3 years agoEvery time someone passes by one of our auctions and DOESN'T buy? That's EXACTLY what they're telling us.
Our "FEES" are too high.

·3 years agoMaybe they are telling you that your price is too high, but they have no idea what fees you pay. The two are not the same.
Just out of curiosity. Do you normally run auctions? I don't see that you currently have any listed.
It is more likely they pass by yours as it isn't what they are looking for on this shopping trip. That is no disrespect to you or what you sell.

Buyers rarely care about seller fees. Most shop dollars and cents and the lowest price wins. Glad to hear you have enough extra money that it doesn't matter.

·3 years agoOh it is a big thing with a handful of Ebay employees involved. They were all fired shortly after this came to light. To include Wenig [CEO]. Most have been prosecuted and are serving prison sentences. There is a Civil suit going on by the people they targeted relentlessly. It was some of the worst of the worst behavior I've ever heard.

Fully realize that since they have never sold or bought anything under this account. Who's to say if they have EVER bought or sold anything since we have no idea what their other account may be if they in fact have one. If this is the first they have heard of the law suit I question the fact that they have ever been here as a seller/buyer.

Some people don't stay up on current events in regards to Ebay. They don't normally participate in the Community Forums either unless they feel the need to ask a question or announce their departure for that matter.
I know you like to disagree with me, that is clear. I don't particularly care. You should believe whatever you need to believe.

Fully realize that and I also understand the reason behind it and most of those are long time sellers and have an established history on this forum. This individuals account, at least this one, has been active since September 27, 2002. It is the first time they have ever posted to the forum. I tend to put more credence behind people that have a leg to stand on.

·3 years agoWhat? I did no such thing! Nor was the book sent to ME! Wait was it sent to YOU? So why on Earth do you care so much about petty, childish antics among individual strangers? I mean we're not even talking about real horrors inflicted on OTHERS, no breach of ethics involving municipal water supplies or wildfires or disease spread. Take a look around -there are countless REAL atrocities you could get outraged by. 'Death of a Loved One'? A funeral wreath? -I never even realized how funny that was until just now, reading your pearl-clutching about it. I hate to ruin comedy by explaining it, but what's funny is how pathetic the antics were, and how anyone looking at the situation could get appalled by it, it's like a SNL sketch. Seriously if you can't stand the barely-measureable heat of a television, well you know ......

·3 years agoWhat??? FUNNY???!?!? I find no humor in what was done to the Steiner's and I would bet money you would be hard pressed to get them to say they say any humor in what they went through. Cyberstalking was only a portion of what was done to them. You might Google the subject and find out some of the horrific things that they were the target of.

Some things sent to them was live cockroaches, a bloody pig mask, live spiders, pornographic magazines with David's name on them sent to neighbors and more.
Damage to their home, cyber stalking and stalking their personal vehicles so they could follow them. And more. This all went far beyond some pranks and struck terror into the Steiner's.

·3 years agoEvery seller has a "breaking point" where they have to decide if the profit they are making is worth what they are investing..not just money but time, shipping,etc.
I see you have decided. And really can't blame you. Ebay's inability to stop scammers is going to cost them dearly. Sellers will quit selling, and buyers will quit buying.
It's already happening, despite what Ebay's cheerleaders would have you believe.
As far as Ebay's "scandal ", that's far from over.
Lawsuits and charges are still flying, and because it reaches so high up in the company, the monetary damages will be significant.
Should be quite the circus.

That is not quite accurate. There is a Civil lawsuit, filed a year or so ago by the people that were the target of this beyond bad behavior.
As for Criminal trials. I'm not sure there are any of those left as I don't think the DOJ is charging Wenig. But there could be one out there still to go to trial.
If I have that wrong, please feel free to give the correct information.

·3 years agoOn Jan 5th of THIS YEAR a Judge ruled that the Steiners could refile their 2021 lawsuit against Ebay using the criminal evidence collected by the Justice Department and the FBI. Which includes emails between Ebays CEO to the now imprisoned Jim Baugh where he tells Baugh to "Burn her down". All this evidence wasn't released previously.
So on March 2, 2023 they filed a NEW lawsuit.
And Ebay is really screwed.

·3 years agoI hope you thrive wherever you decide to go. It isn't necessary to announce your departure here because you are using a posting ID.
As to fees. That is a mixed bag. Some sites charge less that here and some charge more. You will just need to decide what is most important to you, traffic and sales or the fees you pay.
The horrible actions of a few FOUR years ago is not a secret. It has been discussed on the threads quite a bit. It is just coming back up again now because some court cases are close to going to trial. Most of the offenders have already been convicted and are serving prison sentences. So not a secret by any stretch of the imagination, it is just that you are now learning about it.
