Emails from eBay telling me I need to sort out my poor sales performance
Good day all and happy new year.
i got an email from eBay saying the my sales performance wasn’t up to scratch and that I needed to sort it out by the 20th of February or things would occur where I would get less listings or discounts.
my sales on eBay are a hobby at best, I have a load of stuff for motorbikes and kitesurfing stuff I no longer need but I’m not giving it away no matter what eBay suggests and if I sell something elsewhere on another forum why am I penalised for turning off the listing when I’ve had no interest on here?
my question really is this, as it’s not a business should I not worry about these emails and just delete them?
Oh and does anyone else think the buyer insurance fee is a scam and an insult to the private sellers like me as it makes sound like I’m a dodgy dealer selling broken items?
i appreciate any and all suggestions or comments.

Yes, you need to worry about those emails or your time on Ebay is going to be short.
This is the US site, we don't have the buyer insurance fee.

·9 months agoeBay doesn't penalize you for not having enough sales, at least not here in the US. They do evaluate you on issues like shipping, returns, etc.
Since the policies in the UK are different and very few if any of the users here are UK-based, I'd suggest you log out here and into the UK forums: https://community.ebay.co.uk/
You'll likely find people there who are more familiar with what you're experiencing. Sorry, we get lots of visitors from the UK site that don't realize they're on the US forums!

·9 months agoYou are posting on the US Forum, find the forum on your ebay.co.uk site for what could be more accurate information: but....
Sounds like you are cancelling orders for 'out of stock' because you have it listed elsewhere and are NOT removing them from ebay.
Ebay frowns on disappointing customers so be SURE you have the items you list.
As @jerseyboymusic stated, you must be talking about 'shipping insurance'? If so;
a.) buyers have NO idea you are buying it so they would have NO thoughts about you being 'dodgy' etc.
b.) That insurance if for typical 'lost' packages that never make it to the buyer and you are forced to refund buyer, then you may get paid back from the carrier using that insurance

·9 months agoThere are no "private sellers" on Ebay. It is an ecommerce platform and even if you are a "part time seller" like me, it's still a business. You get a 1099 at end of year to report your income to the IRS, etc.
If Ebay is notifying you to clean up your sales performance so you can still list on here, I would pay attention to that.
I don't know what "buyer insurance" is... you mean insurance on your USPS shipments?

·9 months agoThe OP is in the United Kingdom. There are private sellers and different selling rules there than there are in the US.

You are on the US board, so most of us are unfamiliar with your selling rules. You may try asking on the UK board for better information.
