Electronically transfered code to buyer. How do I get paid out?
Summary: rontana59 sought advice on how to receive payment for selling a panini points card on eBay after sending the QR code electronically and refunding shipping costs. onlinecentral explained that eBay requires proof of delivery, typically through a physical shipment with tracking. Other participants advised that without shipping, payment could be delayed, and shared concerns about potential scams and eBay policies against digital item sales. rontana59 later updated that eBay Customer Service resolved the issue by having the buyer verify the sale through feedback, leading to the release of funds. They suggested using 'Local Pickup' as a method for future sales to avoid similar issues.
I sold a panini points card. I sent pictures of the QR CODE and refunded the shipping. How do I tell ebay the card has been delivered so I can get paid out?

OP3 weeks agoUPDATE:
Ebay CS had me message the buyer to verify the sale was completed via the Feedback button. Once he did that, I contacted the live CS ( they can see Feedback ) again he checked it and released the money. I hope this helps others. The best way to handle this kind of sale is to change the delivery to Local Pickup. Have the buyer send you the code Ebay sends them. You scan it in and the sales is complete. I really hope this helps others.

·3 weeks agoAs far as I know, there is no way to prove to eBay that a digital item has been delivered, because digital items are not permitted on eBay. Just hope your buyer does not use the card and then claim "not as described", because then you will be forced to refund the rest of the payment.

·3 weeks agogood luck with that.

·3 weeks agoYour listing was set up to ship the card using GA. Who decided not to ship and just send the code? Did you offer or did the buyer request it?

·3 weeks agoI always encourage new sellers to do their homework BEFORE starting to list on Ebay. It is a JOB and should be treated as such. For the very basics, you should be reading the User Agreement you agreed to so that you could start selling on this site. As well as policy pages on HOW TO list an item as well as the policy pages on how your money is processed. These are just the basics. Lots more to learn, but you really should do your homework BEFORE listing your first item.
When funds will be available
You can see when your funds will be released in Seller Hub or My eBay. However, your funds may be unavailable for longer if we have concerns about the order.
Here are some situations where transaction holds could be applied to a seller's funds and when those funds would typically be released.
A brand-new private seller
New private sellers will typically receive their funds within 2 days after delivery confirmation (for items sent with an ebay label), 7 days after delivery confirmation (for items sent with a third-party label), or 31 days after the buyer pays (for items sent without tracking) while they build a consistent track record. Once they've qualified to receive their funds faster, they'll typically receive their funds within 2 days of the buyer’s payment.

·3 weeks agoYou don't.
Without tracking showing it was delivered, not much you can do but wait until the hold is released.
If your buyer files an INR, you'll be refunding since you don't have proof of delivery.

·3 weeks agoTypically to sell anything digital or shipped electronically you need eBay approval first. Best is to now ship the actual card

OP3 weeks agoThanks for your information everyone. I will wait for the payout. The information about local pickup seems to be a good workaround. Thanks again, everyone

·3 weeks agoIs that the $500 card? Hopefully everything will go well for you. If eBay is currently holding you payments until after proof of delivery they may make you wait 30 days or longer to make sure there is no problem for the buyer. Even though you sent picture of the QR Code can you still mail the actual card so that it will show shipped and delivered?

·3 weeks agoeBay considers items to be delivered when this happens.
1) The seller buys a shipping label from eBay or elsewhere. The tracking number is loaded into eBay before delivery and the package gets a Delivered scan later.
2) The seller offers Free Local Pickup. The buyer shows the seller a QR code the seller scans and uploads into eBay. Otherwise, the buyer gives the seller a six digit code to enter into eBay.
If you didn't do either of those two above, you can expect the maximum duration for a payment hold.
Here is the policy you should have studied in advance.

·3 weeks agoCan't the OP still buy a shipping label, mail the card, and put the tracking number into the order? Is there any reason it's too late to do that?
onlinecentral
·3 weeks agoProbably yes. If the status is still Awaiting Shipment, just create the label and mail the package.
If the order was previously manually marked Shipped, change that to a Not Shipped status and then create the label.

·3 weeks agopersonally, this is what I'd do....ship the card. What the OP has done could be very costly if any red flags go up, especially if the buyer files any type of case drawing attention. I can see a scenario where payment is held for 6 months, plus perhaps other issues. Digital sales are high scam sales, eBay doesnt like sellers going around the digital policy

·3 weeks agoSeems VERY scammable, both ways. And for such big money! Shoot, might as well sell drugs, or prayers, or witchcraft spells. 😆
