eBay's Size Taxonomy is completely broken.

They rolled out standardization of sizes yesterday and I've already found 4 broken instances where eBay's Taxonomy needs to be updated:
Men's Pants/Jeans:
Size 33 and 35 are both not valid "Regular" Sizes. Only allowed in "Big and Tall"
Suits/Blazers:
Size 43 chest is not a valid size
Women's Jeans/Pants
Size 37 is not a valid plus size. There are a few brands that use this as a plus size.
And this is just day 1.

·yesterday at 6:53 PMeBays taxonomy for C&A is lousy - this has been the case for the last ? 7 years since they rolled it out and is just as bad now (except at least they have plus sizing now). Our complaints (which I helped organise) were brushed off.
Item specifics that are simply filled in don't come up as searchable AFAIK - though they add to information in the listing itself.
My upthread joking aside, one would think that eBay would do better research in organizing search for a market that is absolutely booming (pre-owned clothing and accessories).

·6 days agoFor any clothing sellers who are unhappy with this new feature, you should leave feedback using the question mark at the bottom of the seller hub.
I left this:
"The new rollout of "standardized fashion sizes" is not good for buyers or sellers. You have left out many sizes and taken away the option for sellers to input a custom size. If ebay wants sellers to put in "the size closest" then ebay needs to pay for the Item Not As Described returns that will result from the incorrect information in the listing."

·6 days agoSame thing is happening with both men's and women's socks. Apparently the most common sock size (6-12) isn't a legit size according to eBay. Every single package of socks I sell has 6-12 on it, all brands. But for some reason eBay says it isn't a legit size any longer.

·1 week agoAre you no longer able to manually type in a size?
I just listed this suit using the Android app and it let me type in the different sizes. (jacket is size 16 and skirt is size 14)

·6 days agoYou are not able to do this. Or if you are using an older listing and are still able to input a custom size it will not be shown in active listings.

·6 days agoWell as of now, it's still being allowed using the app. And I'm seeing the suit in general search when looking from a different account. So that's the workaround for now.

·6 days agoI did this same thing but then when I went in to change the price or the quantity it throws an error. Have you attempted to try changing anything in it?

·6 days agoThis was a new listing I created yesterday.
Just now, to test, I went to the listing and revised it to slightly change the description (just added some words). It seemed to work fine.
Again, this was all done on the app, not on the website. My guess is they haven't rolled it out to the app yet but probably will soon (if they don't get enough complaints and decide to scrap it).

·1 week agoI would pick the closest size and make the facts very clear in my title, item specifics, and description.
And if you send an SIO or message with a buyer -- include a caveat about the size.
It's the best you can do.

OP6 days agoWouldn't the better solution be eBay fix their obvious mistake and make size 33 and 35 a possible selection?
I mean is this a bizarro world here? We just accept eBay's terrible implementation?

I changed 34 to small this morning and updated the description.

·1 week agoCorrect - there has actually never been a case of anyone ever having worn size 33 waist pants. During development, men go from 32 to 34 and skip 33 entirely. Researchers are still dumbfounded, but eBay is ahead of the game on this one.
