eBay's new size fashion socks requirements โ has anyone received an actual solution or official update?
Hi everyone,
I work for one of the larger premium brands in our segment, and for several years we have been one of the top sellers in the sock category on eBay.
That is why the recent changes to eBay's size requirements are extremely difficult for us to understand.
Basically overnight, the permitted size values were standardized to such an extent that a large number of our actual product sizes no longer fit into eBay's new sizing system. Products that we have been selling correctly for years can now no longer be relisted or activated simply because their genuine manufacturer size is no longer accepted.
What makes this even more confusing is that eBay's own sizing logic does not appear to be consistent. For example, different size ranges are available for women's socks compared with men's socks, even though the actual shoe sizes obviously overlap.
For established brands and manufacturers with fixed and proven sizing systems, this makes very little sense and in some cases makes it impossible to list products accurately.
We have contacted eBay several times and asked them to reconsider these changes or at least provide a way for sellers to continue using the correct manufacturer sizes. Unfortunately, so far we have not received a genuinely helpful or specific response.
And judging by the comments in this community, we are clearly not the only seller affected. Many long-standing sellers seem to be facing exactly the same issue.
What is particularly disappointing is that sellers, top-rated sellers and businesses that have been selling on eBay for many years currently seem to be left alone with this problem. Feedback is supposedly being forwarded, but there still does not appear to be a clear solution or even a proper explanation.
Unfortunately, eBay is increasingly becoming a very difficult marketplace for professional sellers to work with. If something as fundamental as the actual product size can no longer be entered correctly, this is ultimately bad for both sellers and buyers.
Has anyone here received any new information from eBay? Is there an escalation route or a specific department/contact that can actually review this issue properly?
It is difficult to understand how hundreds of sellers can raise the same concern, yet an obviously problematic rule can remain unchanged simply because an internal decision has been made.
I would really appreciate hearing whether anyone has received a meaningful response or found a way to escalate this issue.
Best regards,
Nico
