eBayMAG charged me approximately €2,900 in unexpected listing fees
Summary: klj_trading shared a frustrating experience about unexpected listing fees charged by eBayMAG amounting to approximately €2,900 due to a temporary drop in their seller performance. They expressed disappointment with eBay's lack of warning, grace period, and unresponsive account management. soh.maryl explained that the forum primarily consists of fellow eBay users, not official representatives, while dbmm-media inquired about what eBayMAG is. broto_64 mentioned the contractual terms related to fee increases due to performance issues. ryry-jj suggested pursuing further action with the Account Manager or contacting customer support through other channels.
I am posting here because I have reached the point where I do not know where else to turn.
I have been selling on eBay since 2016. I have completed more than 20,000 sales, built a following of approximately 1,100 people, and currently pay around USD 3,000–3,500 in eBay fees every single month.
Despite this long history and substantial contribution to the platform, eBayMAG suddenly charged my account approximately €2,900 in listing fees because my Global seller performance temporarily dropped below standard.
There was no meaningful advance warning, no grace period, no automatic safeguard, and no opportunity to stop the international listings before the charge was applied.
The full amount was taken from my bank account only four days before I had to pay my household bills. For a small business owner, this is not a minor inconvenience. It is a serious financial event that directly affects both the business and the family behind it.
A temporary performance issue should not result in thousands of euros being withdrawn without a clear warning, a spending limit, a grace period, or an automatic suspension of the affected eBayMAG listings.
My eBay Account Manager initially told me that he would help, investigate the matter, and do everything possible to resolve it. Since then, communication has effectively stopped. My messages are no longer being answered, and the assistance I was promised has not materialised.
I feel completely abandoned by eBay.
After almost ten years on the platform, more than 20,000 completed sales, 1,100 followers, and monthly fees of approximately USD 3,000–3,500, I expected at the very least a fair review, clear communication, and someone willing to take responsibility for the case.
Instead, I have received an automated charge of approximately €2,900, unanswered messages, and broken promises of assistance.
I am asking eBay to review the following:
Why was I not given a clear advance warning that approximately €2,900 in eBayMAG listing fees were about to be charged?
Why was there no grace period or automatic suspension of the international listings?
Why are there no safeguards or spending limits for charges of this size?
Why has my Account Manager stopped responding after promising assistance?
Will eBay refund or credit these fees, considering that the seller status issue was temporary and the financial impact was severe?
Is this really how eBay intends to treat a long-standing seller who has completed more than 20,000 sales and pays thousands of dollars in fees every month?
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for a fair review, transparent communication, and basic protection against an automated system suddenly withdrawing thousands of euros from a small seller’s bank account.

·1 month agoAt this point today, what are you able to do to prevent the fees from being charged again? If you have an Account Manager, I'd keep after them. Regardless of a warning or not, are these fees legitimate? I don't know anything about ebayMag to know what pool you are swimming in to be able to provide any great help, but can you contact CS on Instagram?

OP1 month agoI have now disabled all cross-listing through eBaymag, so this cannot happen again.
The fees are technically legitimate listing fees. A very large number of listings had been created automatically through eBaymag and were normally covered by my eBay Anchor Store subscription. When my global seller status suddenly dropped below standard, those free listing allowances disappeared and the charges began snowballing immediately.
eBay has already acknowledged that this situation needs to be reviewed. I was promised a Zoom call with a senior representative in India, but I have now been ignored for three weeks despite repeatedly following up.
So the issue is no longer whether the fees exist under the rules. The issue is the complete lack of safeguards, the absence of a meaningful warning before thousands of euros were charged, and the fact that eBay acknowledged the case and then stopped responding.

·1 month agoI understand you were hit with a larger percentage of fees due to your seller performance metrics dropping below standard.
This is not unusual, it is described in the contract you agreed to when you joined here as a seller. Further, ebay does send notices about the metrics falling below a certain point. No, ebay does not warn you how much you will be charged extra in that message, I am not sure if it says that it "may result in a fee increase" but again it is explained in the TOS.
I also understand the sudden upcharge is shocking because it has happened to me in the past, as far as temporary goes... It is my understanding it lasts a full quarter so I'd be sure to keep those metrics above standard (and preferrably top rated) if you want to return to a normal life of fees.
Thank you for your understanding.

·1 month agowho or what is eBayMAG?

OP1 month agoeBaymag is a free official eBay tool that helps sellers list and manage their items across multiple international eBay sites from one central interface.. It is very dangerous to use for sellers like me with a large inventory

·1 month agoSo sorry to hear about your problem; however, you've wasted your energy here. When you post here, you're NOT addressing eBay or its employees.
These Boards are generally composed of fellow eBayers, buyers and sellers like yourself who volunteer their time here to answer questions. We are not at all able to resolve any problems.

OP1 month agoThanks for your reply – I understand these boards are mainly other buyers and sellers and that you can’t directly resolve my issue.
My intention with this post is twofold:
1. To warn other sellers about the serious risks I’ve experienced when using eBaymag, so fewer people end up in the same situation.
2. To document the problem publicly in the hope that it eventually reaches someone at eBay who can see the broader impact and take it seriously.
I fully realize this isn’t an official support channel, but community feedback is often the first place patterns and systemic problems show up. Even if no one here can “fix” it, sharing concrete examples of what went wrong with eBaymag (and how it affected my business) can help other sellers make informed decisions.
If anyone else has had similar issues with eBaymag, I’d really appreciate if you could share your experience here as well – the more information we collect, the harder it becomes to ignore.
