Ebay won't send me my money and can't seem to give me answers
On May 22, a red flag appeared on my payouts page stating : "Your payouts are blocked while we review your account. This is a routine process to keep your account safe and takes up to 6 business days to complete. We’ll email you if we need more info." We are now sitting at July 6th, 7 phone calls in, and we still have not received any of our payments (we get weekly distributions). They keep saying we will escalate this issue to leadership, we will email you, you will hear back in 48 hours.... Meanwhile they keep taking their fees and their monthly premium subscription fee's, but won't give us our money. The latest I heard today is they are now aware of the issue, but it isn't a quick fix. They said that they have to work on the accounts affected one-by-one. So they have no time frame as to well I will see my money, and they can't tell me where I stand in this "so called list," as far as when they will get to it. So frustrating.

OP3 years agoUPDATE! Finally, July 19th and they have fixed my issue. I got an email and a phone call from the last rep I spoke with, who was all the way in Scottland, lol. The banner has finally been removed and I will start getting my payouts next Tuesday, as this weeks deadline was missed. They refunded me only 1 month of subscription fees. They stated they could not do the other one because it officially wasn't recognized as a problem until June. At least I got 1 month back, I honestly wasn't expecting any.

·3 years agoUpdate: Called again they told me July 18th…
however I am looking at it now and appears to have been removed and says my next payout is tomorrow (Saturday)

OP3 years agoI am glad it worked out for you. Mine is still on, lol. We have been selling on here for years, we have high rankings and standings, and zero communication from ebay unless I am calling them.

·3 years agoI am in this boat too. It happened to me today. I called both ebay and the facebook contact.
They stated nothing is wrong with my account and this is a routine procedure they will eventually do to everyone.
They said it should automatically be lifted Thurs of next week.
mam98031
·3 years agoThat is because it is. They do random Security checks as a normal course of business. So you are NOT yet in the same boat as the OP of this thread.
When Ebay does this it can take 3-6 business days before your money is released back to you. So you will need to wait and see how this works out for you. If they ask you for additional information, make sure you respond quickly with that info so not to delay the process.
Good luck. Most of these Security Checks turn out fine. The OP has some additional issues that do name mean that you will have the same.

·3 years agoA recent federal law quietly came into effect. All platforms now have to declare about sellers making $2000. with so many transactions in a given year. Had to do with theft in department stores and reselling on all platforms. A lot of sellers are having this problem lately being reviewed. I expect it to get worse than it is.
homecabindecor
OP3 years agoAs far as I know that has been going on for some time, and we have to file all the paperwork or whatever when we do our taxes each year. Ebay provides us with that documentation.
mam98031
·3 years agoHUH??? What are you talking about specifically???
As it stands right now, for 2023 Ebay is required to issue a 1099K for any seller that sold $600 or more during the year. That is a Federal Law. So whatever law you are referring to makes no sense since it is a higher amount that the one Ebay and all marketplaces are subject to.
@12345jamesstamps
12345jamesstamps
·3 years agoThis has nothing to do with 1099K. It is not for taxing sellers using platforms.
It quietly happened about a week or two ago as a Federal Law. Unless you read the news in the morning and again at night you might not have caught it.
All platforms have to declare sellers(Etsy, Marketplace, eBay, etc.) on platforms making $2000. with I think 100 transactions or less in a year.
This has to do with stolen merchandise from department stores and such.
mam98031
·3 years agoA 1099K has NOTHING to do with taxing anyone. It is merely a form and nothing more than a mandatory form.
A link to the rule / law would be helpful. It makes no sense when all Money processors must report those that sell a much lower amount.

·3 years agoThat sounds like the INFORM act, and those are not the parameters which are $5000 per year in new merchandise (i.e., "high volume seller").
mam98031
·3 years agoThat is exactly what I thought. I couldn't find anything in it that referred to what @12345jamesstamps was referencing. Hopefully they will come back with a link.
12345jamesstamps
·3 years agoWhen I read about it those were the parameters.
mam98031
·3 years agoWhen you read what? The Informed Act?

·3 years agoThis is becoming all to common of a posting on this forum and is probably one of the greatest travesties of managed payments. It appears to be at random a lot of times and eBay will not, in most cases, provide specifics of what triggered the suspension. I am grateful that I don't have to deal with these issues on the other venues I sell on.
The call in customer support is abysmal these days and they will tell you pretty much what you want to hear to get you off the phone. One thing you may want to consider is going into an extended vacation mode while they fix this problem. No sense adding to the pot of the funds they are holding and that you in fact may never see unless you claim it from your state.
homecabindecor
OP3 years agoRight. I figured I would give it another week or two and then do the extended vacation mode as well. However, they will still charge me me monthly premium subscription fee. We sell on 2 other platforms on top of this one and have never seen anything like this before.

Yes the store fees are another issue and of course no skin off eBay's back. These "payout holds" are nothing more than eBay covering it rear and most likely Adyen earning interest on the funds that are on hold. There have been postings on this forum about sellers funds being on hold for months.
mam98031
·3 years agoKeep in mind that if this is truly a problem on Ebay's end, ASK for a credit for your Store Fees during the affected timeframe. There is nothing wrong with asking for this.
homecabindecor
OP3 years agoOh, I did. I requested that the last couple of months Premium subscription fee's be taken off. The payment manager said he would try, and would get back to me.... same old story...lol

·3 years agoYour prints are awesome. I know most of them and I'm a big fan of many of the artists. But I also think they may be the problem. eBay has been looking at accounts they consider "High Risk" what this means is prints and artwork are frequently re-productions or counterfeited. You sell a lot of what they consider high risk items, and they are worried about getting egg on their face if thousands of fake items are being sold on their site. I think they will get around to asking for receipts and the vendors names where you purchased your inventory. I hope all works out for you. Good Luck!

OP3 years agoI don't know how truthful the manager I spoke with yesterday in the payment processing area, but he told me that it was a glitch in the system. That there is nothing wrong with my account other than the flag keeps going back up as soon as it is removed. He said they became fully aware of the problem in June and they are having to go through accounts 1 by 1 to fix it??? But the way it sounded I'm going to be waiting possibly weeks/months to see this fixed. I see what your saying about the possible issue of re-productions or counterfeited items (I don't think that's the case in this particular situation), but we have reputable vendors for our art and also work with some of the artist directly.
huntfishdie45
·3 years agoYes, there seems to be quite a few sellers in your predicament, one guy after routine review had his account banned for not providing adequate receipts. I think this may be in response to the new requirements congress created for marketplaces that need to be implemented before the end of July. This is no glitch they are reviewing accounts. They used to send out a MCO11 notice and make the seller jump through hoops to comply, but I think at this point there are too many sellers with red flags to do that, so they hold the funds while they review each case before making a decision. I hope you guys' fare well! Good Luck!
mam98031
·3 years agoCall back. If there is a glitch in the system, there should be a ticket number for the repair. Get that ticket number, they should have it available to them IF there truly is a problem with the system.
homecabindecor
OP3 years agoI got a ticket number the first time I called, and this is still going on unfortunately.
mam98031
·3 years agoGood. Each time you call, and I would continue to call daily, refer to the ticket number.
sin-n-dex
·3 years agoThe OP probably got a "call number" which is a reference to the conversation. Has nothing to do with fixing his problem. Each time he calls, he will get a new call number. I get those all the time when dealing with my problem buyers who circumvent my blocks and try to scam (and then leave neg FB). It allows the agent to pull up the last convo with a CSR to see what was discussed and what action was taken.

OP3 years agoI've had a ticket number since the start of this. It drives me nuts because every time I call I have to go through the same spiel of why I'm calling and on hold for 10 minutes before they will even transfer me to the right department. They stated "I'm in line" to get fixed. But they can't tell me where in that line I am. If there really is one anyway...lol

·3 years agoThe phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.
And can show the transcript to any future rep if they are contradictory.
we will escalate this issue to leadership,
mam98031
·3 years agoFacebook will likely not get involved in this type of an MP problem. The OP needs to contact the MP team directly.
homecabindecor
OP3 years agoThank you, I will try that option the next time. I like the fact that there is an actual transcript of the conversation.
mam98031
·3 years agoI sure understand your concern. I would be extremely upset.
Ebay would of course continue to take the fees you owe them for your store and any sales you may get while this is going on. They aren't preventing you from getting sales.
Who are you calling? The main customer service line? I would suggest you contact the MP team directly.

OP3 years agoI have talked to two managers in the payment processing team unfortunately with no luck so far.
mam98031
·3 years agoI can only imagine how frustrating this is for you. However continuing to call is the only avenue you really have to get the money released sooner rather than later.
homecabindecor
OP3 years agoI know, I even told the manager that it almost felt unlawful the fact that they could continue to take our money for services they are not providing and not giving us our money we earned. He couldn't respond to that one, lol.
