eBay withholding legal statements to mislead Sellers about debit card Payouts?
I added a debit card to my Seller account yesterday morning, in response to eBay's many marketing messages across the Seller Portal, pushing it as a faster way to get your Payouts. Today, and only through contacting eBay customer service, I found out that adding my card actually placed a 48-hour hold on my Payouts, because of a change to my account.
At no time during the process of adding my debit card, or selecting it for my Payouts, did any message appear about this 48-hour hold. Why?
I question eBay's decision to withhold such critical information from a Seller, when we've followed their lead that a debit card will expedite our payout. This feels intentional. This is important legal information that should be clearly stated before you finish a set-up so that you understand what is about to happen. Keeping it hidden is in eBay's best interest. They know that a Seller who adds a debit card is looking for a faster Payout and if they know it will actually cause a delay, they are less likely to add the card.
eBay is pushing debit card Payouts to earn even more fees from us. They have a responsibility to us as their community, to be transparent, and honest, and ethical. so we can make well-informed decisions at the time that is right for us. I would not have added my debit card if I had been aware of this policy. I would have kept my payout going to my bank account, and added my debit card at a later date, when I didn't mind the 48-hour hold. I was denied the information I needed to make a decision that was in my best interest, so that eBay could push an outcome that was in their best interest.
This is wrong.
eBay continues to treat Sellers in a predatory manner, and we need to speak out and call them on it.

·2 years agoOthers may be right about the hold. But, to me, a hold is a "safety measure". Otherwise, anyone who hacked the ebay account could clean out the account just by adding a throwaway debit card which could be used before the hack was discovered........

Payouts to your debit card
Alternatively, eligible sellers have the option to receive payouts to a verified Visa or Mastercard debit card for an additional fee. If you’re eligible, you’ll find a banner with instructions for setting up your debit card in Seller Hub or My eBay.
In some cases, you may need to verify your debit card details by uploading a bank statement. It usually takes 48 hours for payouts to be enabled for your debit card, but you can continue to receive payouts to your checking account during this time. Once your debit card is verified, you can select your debit card as your preferred payout method by following the steps above, or request a payout to your debit card on demand, which typically arrives within 30 minutes.
An additional fee will be deducted from your payout total at the time the funds are transferred, whether it's a scheduled payout or an on demand payout. The fee is 1.5% of the payout amount. However, there is a minimum fee of $0.25, and the fee is capped at $15. If the requested amount is less than $5, or more than your card issuer's deposit limit, the funds will be sent to your checking account instead.

·3 years agoBut that doesn't say payouts will be held for 48 hours, in fact it says the opposite - "but you can continue to receive payouts to your checking account during this time."

·3 years agoThe OP (is this is the selling ID) has only sold 2 items recently in the last 90 days...the payout is being withheld due to the infrequent seller status (in addition to the 48 hour delay in implementing the debit card)
I am guessing the thought process was get the funds into the debit card ASAP, but that still does not negate the 'hold'

·2 years agoI thought so too until I found myself in a similar situation. I had to re-verify my debit card for some unknown reason tonight. I uploaded the required document and went to pay out to the bank since it will take God knows how long for them to look at the document. All funds are on hold because of a change to the account. Of course you can spend the money on eBay and pay for shipping or selling coast but get your $$$ Nope! Have to wait. I'm not an infrequent seller either. Ya'll looking up people's accounts like sharks circling **bleep** in the water is so 7th grade! Just answer the question asked.
