!!ebay!! WHY DO SO MANY STILL HAVE NO IDEA YOUR FORCING A FUNDING SOURCE TO BID ON THEIR AUCTION?
AND WHY IS THE OPTION TO TURN IT OFF STILL BURIED SO DEEP IN YOUR LABRINTH OF SETTINGS NO COULD FIND IT EVEN IF THEY KNEW WHAT YOU'VE DONE?
Seven auctions this past weekend, had no idea what I was talking about asking them to turn it off? Five of those auctions ended with no bidders and one ended up relisting with a "Buy it Now" so I could purchase it?
And out of ALL of those I have asked prior, only one was able to find the setting and turn it with just minutes left. And he still had to give away a LEATHER LEVIS'S TRUCKER JACKET FOR UNDER $268! There were 4 others watching that surely would have bid higher had they not been forced to hand over their their card. Because they rarely sell for less than $400. I was smart enough to take a screen shot this time to explain why I didn't drive the bid up higher. I had a $350 bid just waiting for the final seconds (I don't leave time to be out bid). I will just attach the screen shot I sent him, after all, a picture is worth a 1000 words. I ran out if time due a reoccurring glitch in ebay's perfect system. I will say I personally called CS the first time it happened I couldn't convince then there system was flawed because I wasn't quick enough to capture a screen shot. I wasn't about to make the same mistake twice, and there's your proof, I just couldn't remember which ending time was right so I ran out of time.
It's funny, I remember when you buried the "Immediate Payment" option leaving it defaulted it to OFF. I was told it was to allow more people the opportunity to purchase my items. No one even considered the fact that someone might not pay at all. Personally, if I were dumb enough to be holding stock in ebay, Id rather take my chances on a non paying bid than not have any chance/bids at all.
I know if any of you ebay fan boys or girls made it this far your just itching to kiss some ebay a**. But before you leave some well thought out comment like "That's how every auction house works." You show me an auction house where you might get what you won or you might get something that's not even close. It might show up in one piece or it might not if it even shows up at all? Oh, and they make you wait a month for a refund while you wait for a response from someone who isn't even a registered user anymore! How about this one... show me an auction house where most of their items are considered an "open box" because it must have been in a box that was opened at some point and time, right? Show me just one and I will hand over my credit card with no questions asked, until they use it to pay a stalker anyway... come on, that was funny 😄

Actually, eBay never told anyone those "Buyer Rules" set of ON/Yes were placed on their accounts over a year ago. In order for them to function, BUYER IDs needed to be set to forced compliance by eBay. All new users (who are often clueless and don't read the forums) have them automatically applied. Even if you have a buyer only ID, they are in place in case you should ever decide to sell. You can view yours here to see if you require the same thing from your buyers:

First, eBay forced all buyer IDs into forced compliance in order to make an offer. It did not take long for buyers to figure out the ramifications of the "Now you can (really now you must) use the new smoother checkout," Buyers were not told this limited the payment options a buyer can use, and did away with combined shipping/invoicing for offers accepted. The program was the first in the "combined shipping killers". Understand, BUYERS ARE NOT STUPID. |
Now, if a seller sends an offer, or accepts a COUNTER offer from a buyer, these all need to be paid separately as well. It has nothing to do with the "Buyer Rules" and is applied to everyone whether they want it or not.
Instead of getting rid of or sanctioning buyers that didn't pay, eBay went to this system that treats all buyers as potential dead beats. Of course, the system selected results in sellers paying more, buyers paying more, and eBay making more money as well as being able to count individual sales, as opposed one combined for their GMV count.

·1 year agoIf your auction countdown is not behaving correctly, check to make sure your computer's time and time zone are set correctly, and the date and time are synchronized with an internet time server such as time.windows.com or time.gov.

Any difference between your device's clock and eBay's clock can cause problems for you if you intend to bid in the last few seconds of an auction. If your clock is fast or slow by thirty seconds, either way, this can prevent you from bidding. Either your computer will think the auction has ended when it has not, preventing you from bidding, or else you will think you have more time when the auction actually ends. Neither helps you.
Synchronize your device's clock to minimize errors, and don't wait until the last second to place your bid for critical auctions, or consider using a sniping service.
Others have indicated that the countdown on different pages (bid history vs item listing vs bid entry popup) can diverge the longer each page is open, particularly if your computer is juggling a lot of resource-intensive tasks with limited memory. That might not be a problem for most users, but might be an issue for some.

Those who said this was a terrible idea were branded as "ebay fan boys or girls" for not agreeing with the poster's opinion.

·1 year agothis was the answer and fix (prepayment) due to all the deadbeat bidders/buyers that it became an epidemic forcing the site to find a way for both Sellers and themselves.
So, the site decided that EVERYONE will pay and only those sellers that want to go 'deep out of their way' to remove the 'auto checked', will do so.

·1 year agoThe Ebay auction is an endangered species.
Many items sell on one bid. When it does some buyers have instant buyer's remorse and do not pay. Ebay needs to keep sellers listing auctions because many people think of Ebay as an auction site.
Forcing high bidders to pay is necessary to keep sellers listing auctions. Buy It Now listings have had the option to force immediate payments for years.
Sellers like myself, who list auctions infrequently, in low numbers, are not overly disturbed by by non-paying bidders because our auctions start at wholesale prices and usually sell for a low enough price for no buyer's remorse. If I was concerned about the income from them, they would be fixed price, like 99% of my listings.
If you like bidding on Ebay auctions, this payment requirement is helping you have things to bid on.

·1 year agoAgree, there can be a "real time" display issue. (ETA but as you did not bid, you apparently did not really want the item)
Can be an issue when desire is to snipe and need to preauthorize.
It's a shame that prepay need was blanket assigned on all sellers. (in secret)

It is hard to communicate with anyone that has a closed mind and considers anyone that disagrees with them whatever names they want to throw out there. Rude is an understatement. It is also hard to understand why they even post because they clearly respect no one with a different point of view.

·1 year agoThis is an option that is available to sellers in their Buyer Requirements. Over the years sellers have had real issues with non paying buyers on auctions. So now sellers have a tool they can use.
If the seller has this option selected in their Buyer Requirements, then buyers that want to bid on their listings must supply a payment source and the ship to address before they are allowed to bid.
If you become the winning bidder, the buyer has ONE hour in which to change or adjust their payment source or ship to address. After that it will charge whatever you selected in the beginning. I'm lobbying to get this changed to a 24 hour period, respecting that buyers are not always at their computer when their auction ends.
