    Ebay wants bank statement and utility bills, not gonna happen

    So now ebay is asking for all of my personal information, bank statements with transactions and even utility bills, I understand that identities need to be verified but this seems way intrusive and unnecessary , so after 18 years with 100% positive feedback and a top rated seller status it is bye bye ebay, I believe that this is because they are facing so many lawsuits, even from the government, meanwhile scamming sellers and buyers are running rampant and customer service is useless (still). There are just way too many other places to sell that have their act together and do not make such insane demands

    This thread is 3 months old and they must have given eBay what they required as they are presently selling.  Just sayin...

    If you want to point the finger somewhere point it at the ever demanding Federales and Commissars.

    How about this for an alternative?

    Next time you are in the Netherlands, because Managed Payments is run by Ayden, a Dutch company,  show up at their offices, tell them who you are, then cross your heart and point to heaven.

    That should do it .

    I was asked by eBay. Complete information about identity, account statements, invoices for goods sold, and much, much more. I am confused. Has your problem been solved or not?

    The original poster apparently changed his mind about "bye bye eBay", since he currently has over 800 active listings.

    @tariq_moh

    Your situation is not the same thing that the person who opened this thread is complaining about.  They needed bank info to receive payments.  The OP finally agreed to remit it to eBay and now they are selling.  They didn't ask them for receipts of purchase for the items they sold like they asked you.  Again, not the same thing.  Like you were advised earlier, find those receipts and give them to eBay.  Hopefully all will be good.

    Good luck.

    It is hard to comment on your situation as we really don’t know the circumstances of why you are in this predicament. It is of course your personal business but there must be some underlying issues causing them to need such verification. I Imagine there may have been some warning signs before they started the verification process.

    @nooksandcranniesllc ,

    You can thank Senator Dick Durban from Illinois. You need to bone up on the Inform Act that became law back in July REQUIRING all online market places to identify their sellers.

    Law designed to make it harder for sellers to fence stolen and counterfeit goods online.

    Wouldn't strict enforcement of laws by our justice system related to acts of caption & asportation by miscreants be a more effective deterrent to combat fencing ?

         What I find odd is eBay already has your SSN all they have to do is pull your information from a credit report and they have everything they need and are asking you for. Why they want your utility bills I have no clue. They have you SSN, drivers license or other official ID and I just sent in my DNA test results and last blood test information so not sure what more they want.

    They don't want your information because of lawsuits.

    It's  because of the INFORM  Consumers Act.

    It's  because of the INFORM  Consumers Act.

    @fab_finds4u

    That may be true.  However, I have seen a rather distinct pattern here over the years.  I am not judging any particular seller/user, but it has been going on BEFORE the inform act, or any attempt to discover PERHAPS stolen goods:

    User gets 'suspension' notice.

    eBay asks for information they already have. It is submitted.

    eBay asks for more information. It is submitted.

    Sometimes eBay asks for information that is impossible to obtain.  i.e. delivery confirmation for everything you ever sold on the site, or receipts for items you have collected for years, or obtained as gifts/inheritance, or purchased at pallet or locker sales.

    eBay asks for additional information.  It is submitted.

    Seller gets a notice that they are suspended for life, and their payouts held.

    To me it is as if eBay wants the personal DATA first before they throw you under the bus for good.  Almost like they already decided, but want to 'mine' just as much as they can first.

    Other sites are just about as bad and they require certain information also.
