Ebay Trying to their best to push sellers away ?
Have been selling for nearly a year, and Ebay randomly decided to suspend my account and remove all listings to verifiy my address.
I sent the documents in 3 times, and an additional 4th time to an email they said to send it to. The Bank statement has my address, and even shows ebay depositing into it, and then they said it wasn't good enough and wanted a credit card statement.
After no response, I was able to sell again, but got an email saying my selling limit has been cut by 50% for 2 months
I contacted customer support again and they told me the system automatically detects my selling decreased so lower my limit, well of course my selling was decreased, ebay removed all listings and restricted by account for nearly 2 weeks, and I had to send the same documents to them 4 times that they already had on file
the customer support lady said there is no way to increase my selling limit
in other news, Ebay sales decline for the 5th quarter straight...

Sometimes sellers have a misguided opinion that Ebay needs their permission to do certain things, which they don't. Ebay has never required that we agree with them on anything.
Ebay does NOT "randomly" suspend an account. There is cause. You may not agree with it, but nonetheless there is some cause for it. The email you received would outline what the problem was or is.
There are strict LAWS that Ebay has to comply with now that they are a Money Processor. Having your CORRECT address is part of that. Ebay would not have restricted your account because of this unless they had made repeated requests for you to verify your address.
I'm not so sure about what they told you about decreasing your selling limit. While I don't know for sure, that doesn't sound right to me. More likely it was because they had to restrict your account for a period of time.
As to the processing of the paperwork you submitted. I have heard those complaints for the last couple of years. IDK why it happens. Clearly it shouldn't. I've tried to find out, but have gotten no where. If I learn anything I would be happy to share it.
I am very glad to hear you got your issues worked out. I hope you have a very successful selling career here.
When a seller desires to increase their selling limits, they are allowed to request an increase once every 30 days. Mark your calendar and every 30 days request an increase until you have your selling limit well above anything you think you will ever need. Below is a link to where you can go to ask for a selling limit increase. It is the third option in the link below.

OP3 years agoSorry but you are wrong, 4 different customer service agents ALL said the account restriction was because of nothing i did, just a random check they do on all ebay accounts. This was explained to me multiple times by customer service.
They wanted my ID, banking statement and receipt of items i was selling (everything they already had)
My ID was already on file as they have asked for it before, my address was on file, my bank account was on file, they have been depositing into the same bank account for almost a year after verifying it the first time
After 4 times sending the same documents they finally lift the restriction but now lower my selling limit by 50% and there reason was "I wasn't selling enough so the system automatically lowered my sellign limit and theres no way to set it back"
I wasn't selling as much because ebay took 13 days to verifiy my information when they say it takes maximum 3 days. Information I sent in 4 times

·3 years agoThank you. I know sometimes we disagree with what Ebay does and firmly believe there is no reason for it.
Ebay does have a random Security Check where they reverify your information. When they do this they do put your account on hold while they run their security check. Usually the sellers money is on hold for 4-5 business days while they conduct their review. So again a reason, just one you may not know about or agree with. I personally have no idea why Ebay holds funds during this process as it really isn't necessary. No other site that I'm aware of holds the funds during a review.
Well you listed things they asked you for. Complying will speed up the process. It sounds to me that they are doing what I described above.
Also as I stated in my previous post, IDK why it sometimes takes them getting your paperwork a few times before it registers and they admit they have the info. It makes no sense to me at all. I has been an ongoing problem since MP went sitewide in the summer of 2020.
As to the 4 different CSRs you spoke with. Clearly they tried to explain to you this was a random security check. Because you don't agree with it doesn't make it any less valid.
As for your sales. They don't do anything to stop your sales during this period, they just refrain you from being able to access your money. So the lower sales has nothing to do with this issue unless.

·3 years agoYes. This is how ebay "works". I think they just sit around sometimes and think how they would logically solve a problem, then come up with the most extreme opposite way to that, and make that their policy.

·3 years agoWhen I have problems with Ebay, which seems to be frequently lately, I first try to do a support chat. Unfortunately, that chat support team has English as a second language and I've often received little to no help from them. So, I'll request a call or place a call to an English-speaking agent.

·3 years agoIt could have to do with the fact that your item location is set to Canada BUT you ship using a USA postal service.

No, that is not it. That would be akin to eBay shooting itself in the foot. It is in business to make a profit. So it would make zero financial sense for it to spurn its sellers.

·3 years agoI'm not sure what support you contacted but for account corrections, I would personally recommend using www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness (Send a message) .
The social media support are more trained in these types of situations.

·3 years ago@oem_parts_direct shouldn't u post on the Canadian site? we here in the US may have different rules
oem_parts_direct
OP3 years agoall of my listings are (were) on ebay.com as 99% of the items to ship to US

·3 years agoThe only rules that I can think of offhand that is different for Canadians is for global TRS.
For the most part, sellers go by the rules of the site they list on.
