eBay Takes Down Dedicated Advertising Website & Blog, Redirects To Seller Center
Not sure yet exactly what it means but I noticed today that eBay has taken down their dedicated Advertising site and blog and they are currently redirecting all of those links to the main advertising landing page in Seller Center.
The site that contained dedicated content about eBay Promoted Listings Ads at https://www.ebayadvertising.com/ and the eBay Advertising blog at https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/blog/ are both currently redirecting to https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/growth/ebay-advertising
The Advertising site was still live and active for me as recently as this past weekend, though it looks like the most recent archives in the Wayback Machine are from August 26th-27th.
https://web.archive.org/web/20250826041427/https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/
https://web.archive.org/web/20250827013731/https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/blog/
That blog is typically where eBay first posts announcements like new features or policy changes and in the past when a change has been major, like when they renamed the cost per sale and cost per click ad products, they have made stealth edits to the pages to remove old/outdated info and replace it with current data.
While I have no direct info at this time, it did occur to me it's at least possible they may have taken it down and temporarily redirected to make a change with the intent to put the site back live once the changes are complete - and that could make sense if they were preparing to expand the new attribution model to the US.
Of course it's also possible they may simply be deciding they no longer want a stand alone site for Advertising - if so, I hope they eventually re-incorporate the blogs and other content from that page into Seller Center as it would be a shame to lose that resource.
@devon@ebay @kyle@ebay @elizabeth@ebay - can you check in with the ads team and find out what is going on with ebayadvertising.com please?

OP10 months agoeBay has still provided no answers or details about the fate of the eBay Advertising blog, but an eagle-eyed seller reached out to me to say they are seeing what appears to be eBay Ads blog posts being ported over, rebranded as "Advertising Insights" and displayed within the Advertising dashboard in Seller Hub.
This posts, which were once hosted on the eBay Advertising Blog domain at https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/blog/, are now being served under the main eBay.com domain with a new section for ads/blog.
For example: https://www.ebay.com/ads/blog/2025-marketing-trends-calendar-overview
That post was previously on the dedicated advertising site at https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/2024/12/18/2025-marketing-trends-calendar/
https://web.archive.org/web/20250425213353/https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/2024/12/18/2025-marketing-trends-calendar/
Unfortunately it does not appear that there is a main hub yet where you can see a chronological list of posts - ebay.com/ads/blog just leads a blank page that says Blog and has a search bar.
https://www.ebay.com/ads/blog
If you use that search bar, it will bring up results but again since there is no way to sort by most recent and nothing on either the search page or the new "blog" pages showing dates, it's much more difficult to try to keep track of the most up to date and currently accurate information or to tell when changes or updates are announced.
Also, they have not done 301 redirects for individual pages - for example the old link for that 2025 Marketing Calendar posts redirects to the generic Seller Center page https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/growth/ebay-advertising rather than to the specific new URL that contains the same content/replaces the previous page.
That means any bookmarks of the previous links are now broken and will no longer lead a user to that same content, even if it has already been replicated on a new URL.
Hopefully this is still a "work in progress" because if this is the final result, it will make accessing this content much more difficult and cumbersome while obfuscating important announcements about updates and changes.

OP11 months ago@gurlcat coincidentally, just a few minutes after my last post here, I got a response on Twitter...with a link back to this community post saying they don't have any more info yet but they are looking into it. 😂

OP11 months ago@chapeau-noir the best part is I did not link to or mention this post in my tweet to them so....that means they found it themselves.....or maybe someone I tagged here sent it to them....or maybe someone I tagged here is the person who responded there with the recursive link. 😂

OP11 months ago@gurlcat still no response to either public post or DM from social reps... or any other avenues I've pursued for comment.

OP11 months ago@my-cottage-books-and-antiques yeah, they recently did an internal reorg which consolidated Ads, Stores, Shipping, Payments and Business Seller Growth under one broader Services umbrella so it's definitely possible they may be moving to externally consolidate some of those topics/resources as well - that's why I mentioned the other option being that they might have decided not to have a stand alone site for Ads any more.
Hopefully @devon@ebay @kyle@ebay @elizabeth@ebay can get more details for us.

Two things:
I've been expecting the new attribution announcement to come between the 30th Anniversary celebrations and October 1st (the beginning of Q4.) I don't think they will wait till the Seller Check In which isn't till late October. So I could definitely see this as tied to that change in some way.
Also, wasn't there a recent Exec shake up, with some consolidation? Could it be tied to that, trying to bring more things under one roof?

·11 months agoAren't we just waiting for the next money grab attribution that went into effect in Europe and Australia. eBay will charge ad fees, attributing any sale where ANY buyer clicked on the promoted item - even if that isn't the buyer who ultimately ends up making the purchase! I see that sellers are reporting dismal returns and this is will be a huge cash grab just in time for Q4?

OP11 months ago@sassykzt yep, that's what I meant by the new attribution model.
eBay has been tight-lipped about if/when it might be expanded to the US and/or Canada but I noticed some stealth changes to the ads policy pages back in June and now with the ads blog being down (either temporarily or permanently) I have a feeling that changes may be one the way.
Some of us have speculated that if eBay plans to bring it to the US, they'll likely want it in place for the holidays, but again so far eBay hasn't actually confirmed anything.

·11 months agoJust curious, have you ever tried asking a social media rep about anything like this? I wouldn't be surprised if their only directive is to help with specific transaction issues, but we wouldn't know for sure if nobody tried.
(btw I bet your guess is right about them rewriting the attribution rules for the new model)

OP11 months ago@gurlcat yeah everytime I've tried social support I get the "dm us" treatment and if I do that they won't go further without account info even if I explain it isn't an account specific issue....but I'll give it a shot.
gurlcat
·11 months agoIn case you didn't know, you don't have to start with a public post and get an invitation to dm them; you can just go straight to dm and type your question/issue.

OP11 months ago@gurlcat thanks, I know but....in my experience I find they respond better to me when it's public. 🤣
