eBay system still screwing up on listings created Janaury 29th through the 31st...
For the past 2 years or so, the eBay system has not been making listings created on January 29th through the 31st into 30 day listings. They ALL end on February 28th. This never used to happen. We always end our listings and renew them at the end of the 30/31 day period, so that they will appear at the top of the newly listed items. Now this year we will have to end them much earlier, because the eBay system isn't smart enough to make the listings created on those dates extend into March.
Are the eBay coders really this lazy? They could easily correct this. Does anyone have any insight into why this happens? Another AI failure? Inquiring minds want to know...

Good ’Til Canceled Listings
When you list an item as Good ’Til Canceled, it will relist every month on the same day until it’s sold. For example, if you list your item on the 1st of May, it will relist on the 1st of June.
If you list your item on the 29th, 30th, or 31st of a month, the duration will be adjusted if the following month is shorter, but will revert to the original day for longer months. For example, if you list an item on the 31st of May, it will relist on the 30th of June, and then again on the 31st of August and so on.

OP8 months agoInterestingly, all of the listings that are being created or renewed in February are rolling over into March (the ones that got listed today end March 5th). January to February is the only time that this is happens. So, this is something that they can easily fix if they really wanted to.

·8 months agoYou cannot please all of the Ebay sellers all of the time. So why should Ebay change who would be displeased.
Especially when the reason is Ebay seller folklore which Ebay does not recognize the validity of.

·8 months agoA few years back ebay changed the 30 day renewal to once a month to solve the problem of being billed twice in one month for listings rolling over.

·8 months agoYep, that could be a real problem, list hundreds of things on the first of the month in a 31 day month and then get charged hundreds of extra listings for going over your store limit when they all renew 1 day before your monthly free listings did.

OP8 months agoExcept that those of us with a premium store don't get charged for listings. They need to change it back to the way it was.

·8 months agoNice, to heck with everyone else. That's the spirit. Actually, I don't worry about listing fees either. I have 2400 listings with a basic store. Glad I don't have to pay for a Premium store.

·8 months agoWhy does it even matter? I've had 30 D GTC listings since before the GTC even happened (2014) and all that matters is that my listings NEVER stop being listed.
I just don't get the issue here.

·8 months agoIt's annoying if/when you use your Active Listings page b/c most of the time the most recently listed items are at the top of the list For the last several days, I've had to do searches to find them. But it's been this way for awhile now & yeah, it's not the end of the world to have to do some searching, but I do find it confusing.
I never did understand why they didn't use Julian dates when they coded this.

·8 months agoIt's pretty simple to resort the Active Listings by start or ending date, just click on the top of the appropriate column.

·8 months agoThey ARE sorted by ending date LOL. They are still massively out of order due to the 2/28 thing. I have almost 200 now ending 2/28 & they are NOT listed in order of the most recent listing posted, like they are 99% of the time. We have this same problem every year LOL. The 25 I just listed an hour ago are halfway down the page. In front of them are ones that were listed days ago. It happens every year, I feel OP's pain. It's not that big a deal cuz I can just do a page find for the item I'm looking for, but the sort order you suggest is the sort order I ALWAYS use LOL & this happens every single year, it's very frustrating, esp since it was so easily avoidable.

·8 months agoFirst off, this has been the way monthly GTC listings have worked for a long time.
Second, eBay hasn't figured out how to listings roll over on February 29*, 30 or 31. Do you have any ideas how to do that?
* every 4 years the 29th will be possible
Third, if you start a listing on March 31, what day in April will it renew?

OP8 months agoIt worked just fine for several years. This isn't rocket science. Something has changed over the past couple of years. They simply need to redo the coding. We never said to make them go to dates that don't exist (please read the original post). They used to roll over into March. We know we are not the only ones who see this.
