Ebay Suspended my account for seemingly NO REASON!
Hi, I was just wondering if this is normal. I sold a $5000+ dollar camera on ebay a couple days ago, shipped it yesterday and today my account was suspended just before payout! I have sold a couple of $2000+ items before and they just held the funds for 30 days. I could still sell other items without issue.
Had anyone had this happen before? Should I be concerned and reroute my camera back to me?
PLMK
Thanks,
JM

I agree if an item would trigger a suspension then ebay shouldn't allow it to be listed in the first place, especially something simple like a price point, that wouldn't be a difficult algorithm to install but then again ebay doesn't have a reputation for stellar programming skills.
I would again attempt to get in touch with Ebay's Facebook / Twitter support.

OP3 years agoWell, I just got a email from ebay out of the blue. It says my money is being released to my bank account!
It's a little less than I was expecting because I got scammed on an item as my account was suspended. I Sold a newer Galaxy phone and the buyer provided a address USPS wouldn't deliver to so they were holding the package at the buyers local office. Well, the buyer refused to pick it up and opened a support ticket with paypal. They eventually refunded the buyer and only then did the buyer pick up their package. When I contacted ebay they told me that there's nothing they can do because my account is suspended and to just wait until they reactivate it. Of course my account was never reactivated and the buyer is still on ebay scamming people and ebay, they refuse to even look into it!

OP3 years agoNope, never got my funds. Originally ebay reps told me that I would have my funds 60 days after my initial suspension. Now they are telling me 60-72 days after my account was permanently suspended (Jan 28th)
So I am still skeptically waiting for ebay to do the right thing after putting me(and so many others) through the wringer.
I will keep you updated.

·3 years agoI read the selling board quite a bit.
There seems to be a lot of this going on...
Ebay suspending sellers account for no reason at all.

OP3 years agoYeah, it's insane that ebay treats their sellers like garbage. I guess they are no longer focused on mom and pop businesses and are actively trying to dissuade new sellers from using their platform! As crazy as it sounds there might be some truth in it...

It is definitely crazy that eBay will allow a seller to list such expensive items when there is a good chance they won’t pay out because it looks fishy-AFTER the sale.
At least they’ve stopped you from listing anything else.
While 6k is a lot of money, it’s not the most I’ve seen reportedly held by ebay/Adyen here on the boards.
Best of luck going forward.

Ebay told the Seller to ship. Then they keep the money. The unclaimed funds tactic is lame. The USPS is using a similar tactic for counterfeit stamps - they will consider all mail used with those stamps (in their judgement) as abandoned, and destroy it.
Technology seems to be breeding a callousness to the customer!

OP3 years agoWhats lame is they waited until after I shipped the camera before suspending my account. The buyer of said camera was happy with their purchase and promptly left positive feedback.
If having expensive items is a problem on their platform, they shouldn't even allow them to be listed in the first place. Only reason I sold me beloved Leica Camera was cause I was hit by a car and couldn't work my regular job at UPS because of back pain and consequently couldn't pay rent! Luckily I was able to take out a loan. I've Stayed afloat so far no thanks to f'n ebay.

·3 years agoYou are selling high risk items. Not just high risk of getting scammed, but high risk of stolen property. It's a risk for eBay to allow you to keep selling expensive items. This may not be a permanent suspension, but you should stop selling items with such a high price tag. You have to build sales slowly over time. Anytime you sell a high dollar amount in a short period of time, you raise flags and risk suspension.

OP3 years agoYes, most of my items are from local electronic repair shops. I dabble in repairs myself. So selling electronics is my niche. Just so happens they are expensive. Your absolutely right about the scammers. I just sold a laptop last week and then got a msg from ebay stating the account was stolen. Maybe this set off a red flag? I did have the package rerouted at my expense after talking to a ebay rep. Thank you for your suggestions.

·3 years agoI'm not sure if rerouting a package that had been paid for was a good choice, even if that's exactly what the customer service rep told you to do... If you had been paid then it really doesn't matter so long the package's tracking shows delivery, that is all that is required and you rerouting this package may have in fact triggered the suspension.
However we can guess until the end of time, if your account was in fact suspended there will be a message in your messages that will state the reason. It is usually a very short message and the actual reason may be contained in 2 or 3 words, it is not usually a long or detailed explanation but rather it is short and to the point.
Also however, regardless of what has been said you should be able to get the money for your camera in some sort of order. In the meantime you may want to comply with ebay's requests for compliance, as well you may want to contact ebay support on Facebook / Twitter.

some selling patterns trigger an "audit" or more scrutiny

OP3 years agoOkay the exact wording is REVOKED. They stopped all my listings and put payouts on hold. I am 90% sure it was because I was about to be paid out for the camera sale.
Are they just waiting for it to be delivered? Why not just hold the funds?
the_fancy_fox
·3 years agoHave you sent them the tracking numbers showing delivery as requested?
Is that all they asked from you? Usually they want invoices and proof of who you are.
Unless you comply with what they want they will not reinstate your account.
you can try messaging them at ebay for business on Facebook. Use the blue button.
sctra_9109
OP3 years agoThank you! Yes I basicly replied to the revoked account message stating that the tracking info was automatically uploaded because I used ebay to create the shipping labels. Is that good enough? Do they really want me to look up every item I've sold and copy the tracking info?

Thanks,

·3 years agoYes, you need to send them the tracking numbers for every transaction they are asking about. If you don't they will permanently suspend your account for non compliance. Even in an INR case, you have to upload the tracking number OR you lose the case. As dumb as that seems, it's how it works.

·2 years agoWhen buying shipping labels through eBay, tracking is automatically uploaded. It's clearly stated cut and dry in the policies. Your message to this problem is severely damaging to those who seek factual guidance.
You need to read the policy.
