    eBay Stores: off-brand Graphic

Is it just me, or does this graphic look incredibly off-brand for eBay? Saw this when I was looking at another seller's store and visited their Sale tab. It's eBay's graphic, not the seller's.

    So weird.

I haven't seen it in the wild, but that would've thrown me for a loop.  I ❤️ Amazon's dogs!

What I see is something that is pretty standard on the web these days - using a meme to indicate that an empty page is not a problem with the site, but rather is rendering as expected.

lol.....I'm not "visual"......takes me forever to figure out icons......  I just wonder, considering ebay experiences, how many think the upside down aspect is just another ebay error...........

I think her hair makes it pretty clear she's upside down, the graphic isn't.

To be clear, I wasn't saying it's a bad graphic, just struck me as oddly off-brand compared to what we're used to seeing.

Oh yeah, I wasn't arguing - just saying how it looked to me. Your post saying people would think it's an error actually made me laugh. ðŸ˜†

I’m looking at this on a small device and I thought she was holding her nose.

haha - between you and dhbookds you guys are making me laugh at this image.

I want to know where she is. Is she in the ceiling popping through a hole? Is she saluting someone or looking into the distance? Why not have her standing on the ground with some binoculars?

Is she looking in from another dimension? Maybe she's searching for Bettina Miller.

Did anybody else spot the graphical error or is it just me? I'll hide the answer behind a spoiler in case you want to examine the image and try to figure it out for yourself.

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Half of her collar is pink, and the other half is outlined pink, but filled with flesh tone. Someone made an error in the color fill.

Edit to add: now that I spotted the error, it's all I can see when I look at the image.

I made one for ebay if they want to use it.

It's for when there is a technical problem.

"Ooops. There is a technical error. Our IT department is hard at work on the problem."

@wastingtime101 I agree it's odd, thought the same thing about this similar artwork occasionally shown in Seller Hub too.

    2024-08-09_17-55-31.jpg

Definitely jarring and off brand from what we're used to seeing.

OK you prompted me to do a search. The image of the lady in orange pants is from eBay - I saw it on one of the international eBay community forums. Here on .com I'm still seeing the orange parka kid.

    welookedeverywhere.png

Between this image and the one you posted @valueaddedresource , it looks like eBay is in the process of rolling out these new graphics.

The "no sale here" graphic wouldn't have read as off-brand to me if they changed all the other graphics at the same time, because at least then the new design would look intentional. But as I said, I still see the orange parka kid, the question mark product collage, etc which makes the "no sale here" graphic look out of place.

If they're making the switch everywhere eventually, I guess I won't be able to pull out this one much longer.

@wastingtime101 orange parka kid will always live on in our hearts and minds...so I don't think this one will ever get old. ðŸ˜‚

I found orange pants lady with tube TV and antennae on the .com site - she appears when you view a listing that's been pulled.

Meet the new Head of ebay's Art Department: Generative AI.

Well, actually, I don't know what's going on here, but I suspect ebay is trying to use imagery that will "resonate" with the "younger crowd". I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see more of this.

I've seen many similar graphics for 403 'unauthorized' errors. A referee holding up a red card; a wizard saying 'Thou shalt not pass', a zebra blowing a whistle (the 'referee')  , etc.

by off-brand do you mean it's not a stock photo of someone smiling excessively?

The bargains are usually down in the basement.....

If you keep them in the attic then.....

We usually get photos of real objects/people, not drawings.

Like the orange parka kid (we looked everywhere), the product collage question mark (it's not you it's us), collage of sneakers (sneakercon).

I guess we've had a sketch on the shipping label error page for a while, but it's not the same graphic style; it's a shipping box outline with frown face that says something went wrong.

I vaguely remember seeing a new we looked everywhere page recently. Instead of the orange parka kid it was a drawing of a lady wearing orange pants holding something like a vacuum or an antennae? Am I imagining that was on eBay or was that on a different site? It wasn't on Amazon; they still use dogs.
