Ebay should be discouraging neg feedback- instead they make it easier?
New feedback policy is odd- so leaving auto good feedback if buyer does not is fine i suppose- who really cares...but making it harder to remove unjustified negs is just plain agressive to sellers- anti sellers policies like this are just getting tiresome- so now a buyer can return a broken, damaged, used, out of packaing item- get all their money back while making the seller pay the return shipping AND still get to leave a defamatroy neg feedback to boot?! What is the logical reason behind removing a simple autimated seller protection?- by deducting from the return the seller has already noted an issue with the buyer. Why does ebay want to punish sellers for doing everything right?--- Protection is also elimated if you offer free returns and give a full refund???????
Absolutely absurd. So good sellers are punished for no reason. and reason ebay gives is global regulations??- I call **bleep** on that...... show me a global regulator that makes laws about a subjective thing like feedback! Typical ebay - one stupid change causes 10 new issues that never existed, and for what?
And then if buyer decides to leave neg at a future date- ebay will replace their pos feedback with the neg! lol--- you could not make this stuff of if you tried

·1 year agoThis whole feedback issue has been a problem for a long time. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.
On one hand, sellers will get an automatic rating if no feedback is left. On the other hand, if buyers leave feedback later the auto feedback is overwritten. OK then.
**excerpt from new policy:** "If a buyer’s comment includes both removable and non-removable content, we’ll give them the option to edit the removable part so their feedback is published." Why not just remove or strike out the offending portion and leave the non-removable portion of the feedback? OK then.
"**excerpt from new policy:** "You’ll find more detail below on situations in which we remove feedback. In each case, we make sure we have factual evidence to support removal." What does ebay/ AI consider factual evidence? So much of feedback relies on perception. OK then.
Let's just wait and see.

OP1 year agoYes it's so bizarre. eBay is going out of its way to encourage neg feedback. So if they don't leave feedback for 2 weeks and eBay steps in... That should be it. Feedback should timeout. But no eBay will remove the good and put a neg if if buyer wants! For some unexplained reason eBay wants to cater to the people who like to leave neg feedback... It's as if that wants to make it's sellers look bad. I can't figure out out

·1 year agoThis should be interesting.
Will we have employees who actually will change this and that of feedback or read what we send...
We know customer service reps can't really change anything.
Since everything lately is heading toward artificial intelligence when you have a problem who will be able to change this for that...
What if the seller can't really explain the situation with the number of options you have...like for a problem for this: press one or a problem for this press two.

·1 year ago"Global regulations" thing sounds like they're using some EU nonsense to justify projecting it onto all countries when they could just make it regional to where those regulations are enforced.

·1 year ago"eBay should be discouraging negative feedback"? Can you expand a little more on that statement. Yes, eBay probably should encourage buyers who've had a bad experience to work it out with the seller. Don't know how easy that is. But it would be wrong to discourage legitimate negatives when they do serve to warn potential buyers of what might happen.

OP1 year ago@soh.maryl What i meant was to put controls in place that require actual messaging to seller before allowing negative feedback to be left. I do think you must wait a couple days before allowing neg- which is a step in the right direction. Too often negatives are left without even basic communication which is just wrong.
There are also situations when feedback is just not fair to either party- that is why the auto removal was a perfect solution when a buyer returns the wrong or broken or used item- that was a benefit to everyone on ebay...... now ebay just added another unbalanced policy in favor of buyers....again
I do understand that sometimes neg feedback is warranted if a seller is sub-par but this policy makes it open season on sellers with no recourse.

·1 year agoI agree with you 100%. I am very disheartened and discouraged now. Just two days ago I had a lady return two sets of underwear that she said she ordered the wrong size. When I received the items back they were not what I sent her at all. They were underwear but a completely different brand, material, cut, and size. They are not worth the same as the ones I sold her so I'm losing at least half of what the price was. So I used the 50% deduction. She called ebay and received her other half for sending me the wrong item. If it was September 3rd then I'd be getting a big fat red donut to go along with it for absolutly no reason other than she sent me the wrong items back. I honestly don't understand eBay's rationale behind this. Do they think this will deter sellers from using the tool? I mean we are open either way now. Even if I give a full refund on a box rocks they can still leave a negative. Makes zero sense at all and is a huge slap in the face to their sellers who offer free returns. I messaged eBay on facebook and asked that they submit my complaint about the policy change. Not sure it will matter but it's the very least I can do.

·1 year agoeBay loves negs for sellers only because it puts blackmail pressure on sellers to produce more sales and eBay can use the negs to keep sellers money.
