eBay refusing to fix IT issue
Summary: bad_box1 reported an issue with eBay where long-time customers are being blocked from making purchases due to an error message, despite having high feedback scores. bad_box1 believes eBay's suggested fixes, such as removing seller management limitations, do not address the actual IT problem and may encourage negative buyer behavior. krazzykats suggested removing specific buyer requirement blocks to potentially resolve the issue.
Since August 30th, we have had more than a dozen users report they are unable to make purchases and are receiving an error message from eBay that we only allow one purchase every ten days. Some are regular long time customers. Began calling eBay to initiate a repair ticket August 30th. We have our buyer management settings set to block buyers with a FB score of less than five from making more than one purchase in ten days. Too many guest accounts that have purchased multiple items worth hundreds of dollars then making false claims or return reasons with negative impacts to our seller performance and metrics. It is an available option to set for sellers so we have opted to utilize the option. Every user that has reported the issue has FB scores of 14 into the thousands. Two emails from eBay today saying it is "easily fixable" or suggesting the "best solution" is to remove the seller management limitations that are OFFERED TO SELLERS TO UTILIZE. No offer to address the IT issue so am assuming it is intentional on eBay's part to falsely offer a seller a preference or setting and then override it by blocking sales in an effort to force sellers to accept further bad buyer behavior

·1 month agoRemove the two blocks I noted in red from your buyer requirements.
Buyer management | eBay
I would remove block #3 and block #4. The third block is preventing buyers from purchasing more than one item, and the fourth block is limiting by feedback score. Then update all active listings.

OP1 month agoAs I said in the original post, the settings are offered by eBay for sellers to use. We use them to keep buyers with 0-5 feedback from making large quantity purchases that may also have high dollar value. Being a P&A seller with eBay forced free returns has already impacted the business margins greatly. It has encouraged buyers to buy things just because they "look like it will fit" and not do the research needed or ask prior to purchasing. Our return rate quadrupled after they forced that policy and we are forced to eat those costs now. So you are saying, don't use the option eBay has put before you to avoid more potential costs and buyer issues and just eat that as well? I wasn't asking for instructions on how to remove those settings. I was speaking about their refusal to fix the IT issue that arises when a seller has chosen to implement an option they have available.
