Ebay promoting listing without asking?
Good afternoon all, has anyone else ever seen eBay promote an item without ever agreeing yourself?
I noticed a surplus of sales out of nowhere on an item I threw onto eBay a week or two ago and forgot about, then suddenly I got charged almost 30% of the items value between two fees, including the promotion one that I never agreed to?
any tips on getting my money back without having to cancel the order for these people?

It is far more likely that you simply made an error when creating and posting the listing.
Have you checked to see if you have any other listings that are being promoted? If not, you should, so you can fix them before they become an issue.
For the sale you have right now, you should honor it and ship it out to your buyer. Then contact Ebay and let them know you did this by mistake and see if they will give you a courtesy credit. When you talk to them, do NOT blame Ebay for this issue, unless you want them to say no to a courtesy refund. Just own the error, get your money back and move on. Be more careful when you are creating listings.

I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

·1 year agoWhen you make a listing the option to use promoted listings is at the bottom. If you've used it before it may be a default, especially if you have a current campaign or sold a similar item that was promoted. Was the other deck box you sold Promoted? You have to manually deselect it. You should be able to see if it was promoted by electing sell similar and seeing what's at the bottom of the page.

·1 year agoDo not cancel the orders. Ship and figure out the issue with eBay. Never heard of this happening. As sellers we need to constantly monitor our listings to make sure they are accurate, especially if re-listing, or selling similar...and check that we have correct shipping info. Usually, just like in your case, we don't see mistakes until we see "sold"
Go to your sold listing and select "sell similar" on the item in question to see how you set the listing up. Although I'm not even 100% sure a PL will show up for a "sell similar". It will on a relist. Check your other items and remove any PL you don't want. Just know if anyone has looked at those items while promoted & then you cancelled the promotions, you will still be charged if that buyer purchases, I think if its within 30 days.

·1 year agoYou're going to have to call and find out how it ended up being promoted. THEN, no matter who's fault, eBay will only credit you once, within 12 months, for one sale.
