Ebay Promised to Remove Some Recent Negative Feedback and Failed to Do So
Hi,
I received negative feedback recently from a user that was actually wrong. THe item was correctly represented and accurate in the photos and item description but because he is a vindictive hateful person chose to leave a negative anyways.
I called up ebay multiple times and they promised that the feedback would be removed by Monday (3/3/2025). It is now Tuesday (3/4/2025) and the feedback has not been removed. I also reported the user's profile to ebay because the paypal name listed as the payment name differs from the mailing address. The user also has been getting other complaints from other seller's when you check his ebay id feedback profile.
I am greatly disappointed in the way Ebay has handled this situation towards me. As a seller who has been selling online the platform since 2008 and about to reach 20,000 feedbacks I have decided I will not be supporting this platform as a buyer as much since they failed to follow through on their promises.
Ebay is very disappointing in this regard and I will be letting my friends and family know not to sign up for a new account (as some of them have also asked me to do so).
I am greatly disappointed but hope that maybe ebay will come through and indeed remove the feedback in the next few days. Sellers rely on accurate feedback ratings to help their sales come through and when someone leaves a paragraph with defamatory untrue statements (and also seems to have some type of mental illness or addiction problems from the crazy statements they write) its fairly obvious what ebay should do in cases like this.

It's best in such a case to let the buyer condemn himself. Prospective buyers are savvy enough to see if someone is ‘off’. Pointing it out oneself is rarely useful.
It is more important to maintain one’s professionalism in the face of a buyer’s issue than it is to unload one’s outrage in feedback. An even-keeled above-the-fray demeanor is what will impress future shoppers. Much more so than the negative itself, which likely could be utterly disregarded by buyers if the seller handles it with some aplomb.
It is difficult to see, then, how ever denigrating one’s buyer in a feedback comment is helpful in promoting one’s business. Ill-advised remarks do not shield a seller from misjudgment by others, it exposes him/her to it. Displays of anger, blaming, defensiveness, or insults can backfire badly and hurt one’s own image.
No advantage is gained in your current approach. You believe he is mentally unstable, so making accusatory statements to that effect only inflames rather than diffuses the negative.
Always ask: if i leave this response, does the comment plead my cause to future buyers? They are the only audience who matters. Not the current buyer, not a warning to other sellers. Prospective buyers alone is what feedback is for. It is the conduit to more sales. Don’t let it be squandered.
Therefore, a more effective strategy is to show concern for their dissatisfaction, rather than calling names, when dealing with an unhappy buyer. Feedback follow-up comments are the most valuable real estate on eBay, because they have the power to render poor reviews into stellar customer service opportunities—that can elevate a seller’s image in all who vet their trading partners, and spurs sales.

·1 year agoTry contacting eBay through their social media accounts such as Facebook or Twitter. If you DM the account, a customer service rep will respond and set up a secure chat and you can make your case to them. I had success getting an issue resolved this past week with them than regular reps.

·1 year agoI don't understand what even happened between you and the buyer but I see it is over a $10 item. It sounds like he is not even mentioning the product he bought, he is just accusing you of stealing the pictures you used in that listing. Whether you did or not doesn't matter, and I don't know why he would even care about the pictures you used. Nevertheless, it sounds like there were some words exchanged and things got a little heated and he retaliated.
You have almost 20K feedback with only 3 negs and 0 neutrals; that in itself is a marvelous achievement. I doubt if anyone even looks at your feedback because it is so high, but I think even if they did, it wouldn't deter anyone from buying from you. And that first negative you got is one of the craziest I have read in a long time! It's so crazy, I'd save it for posterity.
CS reps are notorious for telling you what you want to hear to get you off the phone. I have never spoke to a rep to remove feedback I use the feedback removal tool. I've had success with it.
I always select request reason:Doesn't follow eBay policies (examples:legal concern, manipulation, extortion, etc.)
I always comment "Would have gladly refunded if the buyer requested it". Nothing more.
Can't hurt to give it a try.
