eBay policies TRAP you, the seller, in a Catch 22 and don't stand up for you
I agree that eBay protection and policies are a joke. I am a 24-year veteran selling on eBay with absolutely NO misdeeds as a seller. eBay ruled in my favor in the initial dispute from the buyer that he should NOT receive a refund after purchasing my item. NOW, 3 months later they are letting the buyer (shs7611) receive a credit even though they are keeping the item! The following is how I responded to the buyer's credit card company (which remains unidentified!)
This buyer hasn’t received a refund because:
- they purchased a Samsung Mini OneConnect and still have it in their possession.
- they knew when they offered a bid for less than the listed price, that the item was listed as “Seller does not accept returnsâ€. To accept or not accept refunds is a choice for every item a seller lists.
- Their offer was accepted, they paid for it and it was shipped all on the same day of 12/23
- They received the item 3 business days later
- On Jan 6, 10 days after receiving the item, they filed through eBay to return it. They were unsuccessful since eBay, as mediator, ruled in favor of the seller’s right to not accept the return.
- Seller suggested the buyer list and sell it if they cannot find a use for it. This buyer has bought or sold over 225 items so are capable to do so. This also means they have made the choice to either accept or not accept returns on hundreds of items they listed.
- Of current like-type electronic listings on eBay, 100% of sellers listed them as “Seller does not accept returnsâ€. Once an electronic item is out of the seller’s possession and buyer has taken possession, it is not known if the buyer has “fried†the electronics or damaged the in“fried†the electronics or damaged the internal workings, rendering it useless.

**eBay policy for items which may require refund after item is returned:
If the item received doesn’t match the description in the listing or If it arrived faulty or damaged
This was not applicable for the electronic item purchased by this buyer.
**eBay doesn’t require seller to refund/accept returns if listing states “Seller does not accept returnsâ€

·3 years agoTherea are few problems with your rebuttal but the only one I will reply about is Ebay has nothing to do with this buyer. It is the CC company and unfortunately you will lose. The good news is the CC company "may" have the buyer return your item. The best route you should have taken was accepted the return 3 months ago.

·3 years agoJust so you know for the future EBAY Money Back Guarantee (supersedes your "no returns" policy) allows customer to return item by claiming (not as described, defective, counterfeit). Customer are NOT required to prove their claims. You will be forced to refund (purchase price + shipping BOTH ways).
Always best to "accept returns" because if you refuse....customer can go to Credit Card Company and get "payment reversed" (keep item and your money). Credit Card Company and PayPal often allow customers to complain 3-6 MONTHS after purchase was made.
Unfortunately, sellers are not protected and the customer will always win. This is all part of selling online.

You have posted a fact out of context.
That fact/policy applies only to "remorse" returns.

·3 years agoThis is not an "eBay policy" that "trapped you". This is a buyer who trapped you by using his credit card company to bypass eBay policies.
Just as you are subject to eBay policies, eBay is subject to credit card company policies.
The credit card company decided to take money from eBay to refund the buyer. So your basic complaint is that eBay didn't eat the loss for you.

·3 years agoWhen you sell online, you may have a no return policy, but that does not mean no refunds.
The majority of buyers are good and honest people, but there are those that have little to no moral fiber and they will find a way to steal from a seller.
The first rule of selling on the internet is "Don't sell anything that you cannot afford to lose".

·3 years agoEbay can rule in your favor initially on these but there is no such thing as no returns with a credit card company. Their customer have the right to request a return on an item regardless of what ebay has and you on the listing. Ebay is just following proper procedure. I advise always to accept returns from customers on here. Get your item back and if you want relist it or not. Credit card companies often do not make the buyer return the item if they win the chargeback.
