eBay Personal lying multiple times and appeal team doesn’t investigate anything more than surface?
Anybody have these issues?
1. I purchased an item from a seller. Me being a seller I know how the process is. I bought a coffee maker from a seller. My account address is a P.O. Box the seller shipped the item to the physical address of the post office not to include the P.O. Box number. “Fun fact†“UPS†doesn’t ship to post office box. Right off the bat the seller sent me a tracking number via message. Which means he didn’t use eBay or a secondary ship service to purchase his label. The item gets to the physical address of the post office and gets return to sender since they don’t accept UPS TO BEGIN with. On the items tracking the item looks like I rejected the item but the shipping Carrier did. After he gave me a partial refund he relished the item again and then took it down.

also he sent me a picture of the label which doesn’t have the P.O Box number on it.

The issue is he said he would send it again. He didn’t he said it would cost too much and he would throw it away. I request a refund and he gives me a partial refund of $55.64 the total was $104.73 he didn’t give me a full refund and eBay has declined my full refund multiple times.

The seller/EBay owes me $49.09. eBay’s money back guarantee is trash. Employees are constantly lying or not doing what they say. Their investigation team only looks at items surface level
I was told that ebay would give my money back I waited 7-10 Buisness day nothing was done. This is regarding multiple calls of +14 calls.
This issue has been on going for one month I paid for the item on may 29 2023
there has been no resolution and eBay needs to pay up and train their employees correctly

·3 years agoIf I am reading this correctly, since you bought from someone selling UPS next time check thoroughly. You messed up and should not have purchased it you only use a PO box. The seller shipped to where YOU said to ship.

Well I can see where this would be an exasperating experience. I would like to hit a few points you made that may help you get some resolution to this problem. I'm not sure if you thought of them or if someone else suggested any of this, so if I'm repeating what you already know, I'm sorry.
" My account address is a P.O. Box the seller shipped the item to the physical address of the post office not to include the P.O." This is an extremely important fact. When a seller changes the address a buyer gives them to ship to, the seller LOSES Seller protection. This is a big no no for sellers. For this reason alone you should be able to file an INR [item not received] and WIN.
"... the seller sent me a tracking number via message. Which means he didn’t use eBay or a secondary ship service to purchase his label." That doesn't mean that at all. It only means they purchased the shipping label from a source that doesn't automatically update to Ebay. It doesn't mean any more than that.
I'm going to tag this post in the hopes that we can get you some help that you need to resolve this matter.

Hey @mam98031! After looking through the details shared throughout the thread what @albertabrightalberta said is correct. We see that in the listing that UPS is the only shipping service offered. Since that is the case and they do not ship to a PO Box, UPS would convert the PO Box address to a physical address that they can ship to. This does not mean that the seller changed the address and it would be the responsibility of the buyer to insure the shipping service selected in their purchase is able to go to the address provided at checkout.

A little bit of a hijack, but related to this (in regards to partial refunds)
When an item gets returned to the seller from refused tracking, the seller will be billed for the return shipping automatically in the eBay portal.
First, Is the return shipping cost allowed to be deducted from the partial refund?
If it is allowed, since there is a delay in the billing happening, and you don't know the exact amount of the return shipping.
How do we go about adding the return shipping cost deduction to the partial refund in this situation?
Or if the original shipping cost is 10 dollars, can we just deduct 20 dollars? Even if UPS may calculate the cost a little differently?

·3 years agoIf the seller states he ships by UPS.
And you knew that UPS does not deliver to PO boxes. (I believe they want a signature and the PO will not sign for you.)
Then you gave the seller an Undeliverable address.
Well.
Sellers are not required to ship to Undeliverable addresses, and if the item is refused, they are not required to refund the buyer who gave them an Undeliverable address.

·3 years agoWhy would a seller ship a item to a buyer out of the gate knowing that it will not get delivered by the chosen carrier.
ONLY FOR A SCAM, THATS OBVIOUS!
I as a seller would never do this, just saying.

·3 years agoKey words are "refused package"....that really hurts. Too bad the seller wouldn't step up to giving you the full refund for his mistake.
I would not do a credit card dispute here..."refused package" is labeled on the package. You would lose with the bank and be charged a $20.00 fee from them.

The buyer is the banks customer. The seller is not.
stuff4divas
·3 years ago@12345jamesstamps the bank does not charge that fee, eBay does, to sellers

·3 years agoI had one a while back and on my bank statement it was from a bank in another country...not eBay.
Once the bank gets involved...eBay can't do anything but charge you.
The charge comes from a bank and eBay collects it and deducts it from your account.

·3 years agoBut the seller did nothing wrong.
Listing stated that shipping is UPS and in one of the messages to the seller, @mr_resale_inc told the seller to us USPS. (Screenshot below) Buyers have no right to force a seller to ship using a method that the seller didn't plan on using! In my opinion, the seller went above and beyond when it was the buyer's error in the first place.

OP3 years agoThis message above is from after it got returned to sender.
Initially when I bought the item from him he sent me a UPS tracking number via message. The tracking number did not post to the item automatically because he used a store instead of a third party shipping service via eBay imported sold items.
after going to the 4 times to the post office Initially looking for my package and asking personal and calling UPS They said they don’t ship to P.O. Box’s. I asked them if I could be rerouted to a residential and they said no since it was already being sent back.
after that I told him I still wanted the coffee maker and he would send it again to the correct address that he should of sent it to, to begin with . He was complaining about shipping cost and I recommended parcel select ground because it is cheaper and he said it wasn’t. And he was going to through way the item. Which was another lie when I saw he relisted it again.

·3 years agoHi there,
I would recommend that you redact the addresses from your post.
lovelycuratedcloset
·3 years agoIf you have items shipped to a PO Box, you can't purchase items that are shipped UPS without this happening. Lesson learned for next time - add a physical address to your eBay account and use that for those shipments. The seller also messed up, though - they shouldn't have shipped it to any address other than the one provided, regardless of your request. They should have cancelled the sale as soon as they saw a PO Box on a UPS shipment, and let you know that you would need to use a physical address if you wish to purchase it again.
As a side note, your post office may offer street addressing. Mine does, and I never use the PO Box address - only the street address. For instance, 123 HWY 45, Box 6789, Anytown, XY, 01234.
mr_resale_inc
OP3 years agoAs a seller I put a post office on my account so nobody knows my physical address. And if he only shipped using UPS it would have prompted me seller doesn’t ship to P.O. Box like the picture I posted
pjcdn2005
·3 years agoThe seller would have had to specify that they did not ship to PO Boxes. The system doesn’t do that automatically. Some courier services such as smart post do deliver to P.O. Boxes.
The seller should have know that they couldn’t ship to a po box but if the shipping method was shown as ups, you should have known as well.

·3 years agoEbay customer service will either lie or they really don't know what to do but will say anything to get you off the phone so that they can handle the next caller. The seller doesn't want to give you the shipping back becuase he lost it but he lost it because he was an idiot to not include the po box #. Why don't you talk to the Ebay on Facebook . They are very knowledgeable, speak English fluently. Perhaps they might OK a courtesy refund.
Go to facebook, find ebay and CLICK MESSAGE EBAY (MESSENGER). When you write through Message, the conversation will be completely private. None of your friends/family will know that you have contacted Ebay. Tell them exactly what happened and tell them that you have a photo proving that the seller sent it wrong. Ask for your money.
Next, set up Ebay to ALWAYS PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD . This gives you a third bite of the apple incase of a problem. Paying with Ebay funds is the worse way that anyone can pay for an item. Only folks with no credit cards due to poor credit should pay this way since they can NOT get a charge card.
Send your funds immediately to your bank and then send the funds immediately to the credit card if you are one of those folks that does not want to owe money to a credit card. Don't let ebay get their grubby hands on your hard earned money. Use a credit card (0r paypal) so that ebay can also pay fees to the credit card companies. When you pay, make sure that the payment is always charged to the credit card.
I have my paypal set up to only pull funds from the credit card. Ebay never touches my funds. I set up Ebay shipping too to pull from a credit card.
Goodluck. Come back here and tell us if you were granted the rest of the refund. I don't know if the Ebay facebook group has the ability to force the seller to refund the balance but I know that they can give you a courtesy refund.

·3 years ago@mr_resale_inc,
I'm sorry, but I think this detail from your picture explains the issue.
The package was delivered to your shipping address, but was refused. That means that it will not be eligible for the eBay Money Back Guarantee. The seller was not required to refund anything, but it sounds like they voluntarily refunded the payment, less their expenses that had lost because of they tried to ship it.
I'm sorry, I doubt that this is what you wanted to hear.

·3 years agoHi @mr_resale_inc
I’m on my phone … so cannot check the listing to see what shipping options were available.
IF you chose a USPS option … then the seller messed up by shipping to a PO Box via UPS … and I would phone your credit card company and request a refund for the remaining amount.
IF you selected UPS … then you messed up … and I think need to eat the loss of original shipping.

So the buyer should have either provided their street address, or check on whether their Post Office offers the service known as "Street addressing":

Never really understood why sellers buy into the spendable funds program/project it benefits nobody but eBay. First they earn interest while your funds sit in escrow, second eBay doesn't have to pay the CC merchant fees when you purchase an item but more importantly I get 5% cash back on everything I purchase on my CC.
