Ebay Not Allowing My Sale to Germany. Glitch???
I have a buyer in Germany who wants to buy an RC Porsche car from me. He asked if I shipped to Germany and I said yes I do. (I have sold to India and the Netherlands). Buyer did BIN and got a message saying I did not ship to Germany. I checked my settings and am enrolled in international shipping. I talked to an Ebay rep yesterday, he checked my settings and did not understand why it wasn't working. He said he would forward it to someone to look at but it might take some time. He suggested I end and relist similar which I did. I informed buyer to try again but to no avail. Buyer sent me screen shots that say "Unfortunately buyer does not ship to Germany. Update your shipping address and try again." Another screen shot he sent me says "There's a problem with one of your items. To complete your order, go to checkout and update your shipping address." And the last screen shot under shipping reads "Ask Seller For Shipping Quote."
Has anyone else ran into this? If so how was it resolved? Would appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Per Google, the 2024 population of Germany is: 83,328,988
I have sold 100's of records to Germany over 23 years on ebay without issue until now and no one can explain or wants to dig into the problem to resolve.

No argument on the uselessness of customer service these days seems to be a constant topic of discussion on this forum. I took a look at one of your listings from a German customer perspective and I don't see any issues with regards to shipping. If you are still having an issue if you can provide some additional details it may help.

However the majority of your records are going through EIS but Germany is NOT showing as one of the countries you ship to. Following is an example. I am guessing potential German buyers cannot even see the items and it appears eBay has done away with the message that used to come up telling the buyers that while the item does not ship through EIS to contact the seller for shipping arrangements. Following is an example.

·2 years agoI have had this same issue for over 1 month. I am fully compliant with Germany packaging licenses, etc. and have sold many records to Germany over the years.
I have the same issue as above....it is not "prohibited" to sell vinyl records to Germany. This is on ALL of my listing....so it is not title or keyword specific.
I tried to call CS (as much as I did not want to) and they were useless.....the person had no idea what I was explaining to them and eventually pulled the "can I put you on hold for a minute" and conveniently I was disconnected.
So....ebay has eliminated the largest country in Europe for USA sellers (at least some).
I personally think this is Pitney Bowes and some filter someone screwed up. PB runs their EIS program and they are the ones that "allow" or disallow things as shipping is now linked to visibility, etc.
Pretty pathetic when as a "customer", I know more about ebay operations than anyone I am allowed to speak with....

·2 years agoI have ebay Global Shipping....that is the option. Works for every other country allowed....you do not need to set "options" country-by-country.
Still not allowing....6 months now.
You don't have Global Shipping that is for sellers NOT in the US.
You have eIS (eBay's International Shipping ). There are some categories that are not available to ship to specific countries like certain toys to the UK and apparently vinyl records to Germany..

OP2 years agoHave you had any luck with your album sales to Germany? In my case once I removed 'remote control' the listing worked.

Fully understand the need to attempt to adhere to various countries import restrictions but part of the problem is sellers are not fully aware of what those "measures" are other than the fully disclosed prohibited items. Part of the problem with automated "measures" is they scan for certain words or phrases as part of the checking process and while the item may not actually be restricted by law the detection of a key word or phrase makes the item ineligible. It's akin to using the word ivory in a listing to describe a color only to have the item potentially removed.
Germany is not in the list that EIS will ship to for that RC Porche.
United Kingdom is also not on the list that EIS ships to for the same item.

There’s nothing you can do it may be a customs or export issue.

just because you are signed up with EIS doesn’t mean the item is available to ship to certain countries.

Germany is not listed in the "Ships to" on that listing 😞
I also looked at other RC cars for sale --- none of them show shipping to Germany. There must be some sort of restriction on them.

OP2 years agoThank you penguin for taking the time to look into that. Suppose I could ship it without using EIS but believe the cost would be way too prohibitive for the buyer considering it is only a $32 ish item.

Thanks. I took a look at the item along with another one of your items. The following item that you recently sold would have shipped to Germany through the EIS program however it is not a RC vehicle.
I initially thought it may have been the batteries word in the description on the RC unit but it will ship to a LOT of other countries through EIS.
When you list items and are using EIS behind the scenes EIS has some filters in place that take into account import laws, customs............. that individual sellers may not have full access to. I am going to assume, since it will ship to a LOT of other countries, there is a key word in the listing that EIS is picking up regardless of what other words are in the listing. Since Porsche is based in Germany I am taking a wild guess that may be what is excluding it. You could try simply listing it as a remote control car and not using the word Porsche and see if that fixes the problem for the potential buyer. There are other things that would have to be worked out but this may help you nail down the problem.
You could also simply specify your own direct shipping for the listing and send it directly in essence bypassing the EIS program. I believe some buyers that are using EIS are specifying their own shipping methods due to some of the size and weight limits in EIS.

Maybe another solution is to remove the word battery from the listing. Obviously you would not, or should not, ship the item with batteries anyway.

OP2 years agoWell, shot that theory down about the battery. lol. Just looked at another listing of mine, a G.I. Joe Battery Operated humvee and get this, it will ship to Germany. Who knows. 🤔

OP2 years agoWow. Thank you. The 'Porsche' thing crossed my mind as well. But then again it wouldn't ship to UK either. Maybe the 'battery' term. 🤔 Will revise to get rid of 'batteries'.
