That doesn't circumvent them at all. It actually saves them money, since they wouldn't have to front half the shipping costs for a return.
I have to agree. Forcing a return on car parts (with a few exceptions regarding kinds of parts and categories) isn't the smartest idea. eBay shouldn't have a try-and-return option for car parts. That was just asking for problems.
I also sell some parts and have a lot more to list. But most are going to be small and light and I'm listing them with this new policy in place. Depending on how it goes will change how I approach this myself.

Nothing would happen. Its up to me to list an item as new or used.
I could very easily list these items as used, since the shop that is getting rid of them bought them new and they have been sitting around collecting dust for a few years. They are no longer brand new or have a warranty. I have been listing them as New (other) but I'm quite certain I could list them as used without any issues from eBay at all.
The fees are the same no matter which classification I use. eBay takes the same percentage. So how exactly would I be "circumventing fees"?
If the actual purchase is taken off of eBay and eBay doesn't get their fees for the sale, THAT would be circumventing fees.

OP11 months agoyes your right I read it wrong, selling new items as used has nothing to do with circumventing fee but it would hurt sales the majority of buyers search lowest prices and new items first

But, the search, sorts, and filters are manipulated to the point of Most of us know....they don't work.
If it wasn't for that, I think this would hurt my used sales by screwing up results even more.
However, I'm nut sure it could get any worse...........

As for searches, I never specify when searching for new or used, I just always used sort by lowest price including shipping, after setting my search area to the US (as I don't buy from international sellers).
I then review the options, and find the first one that looks correct, doesn't look like a fake, has a seller with a decent rep, has plenty of photos, a decent description, etc. I skip a lot of sellers that obviously don't put in any effort, even if they are a bit cheaper.
I have never bothered with or worry about search for new vs used I guess. Didn't even know that was a thing. Still doesn't make the listing method wrong. If you sort by just pricing, a new item listed as used if its priced at a reasonable amount may still show up among the 10s to 100s of others. lol

·11 months agoYou can't include New/Used in the title - But you can use phrases such as Sealed, Unhandled, etc. to indicate shorthand for condition.

·11 months agoai can't tell new parts from used parts.
Just like ai can't distinguish between a Part Number from 1000 key words in item specifics.
And ai can't tell a photo of a website address in a photo.
Until ai can police this stuff, all of this will continue to happen.
Well, unless me or you tried it.......ugh
