Ebay Messages Update
Has anyone else noticed the update to how unread messages appear within ebay messages. They are no longer all bold font and instead just have a small blue dot in front of them. Its almost impossible to notice and makes every message appear as if it has already been opened.
Anyone know why ebay has done this change?

·8 months agoI find the blue dots difficult to recognize as unread too. I will adjust, but I don't like the change. I use unread from eBay and unread from members to sort as a workaround.
I do like the "new" messages system though, with text threads instead of individual "emails", I guess it's not new anymore.
I wish eBay was more customizable in it's desktop UI. Bold text, background color, and column changes in order + listing pages on summary.

·8 months agoNo need for the snark.
It's not 'change' that's the issue, it's the change for no reason.

Yes, change can be a problem - unless you use First CityWide Change Bank.

This is due to an annual increase in system activity experienced during this period, which has caused processing delays.

·8 months agoBecause they have to have something to change. Why not work on the things that need updating, instead of changing things that work well already?

·8 months agoOnce I read a message I archive it. That way it can be read later, and my inbox stays clean.

·8 months agoWe did notice and it is more difficult to see now. How about allowing users to flag messages? This was an option removed through another brilliant update. Think they prefer sellers miss things that could, if seen and addressed appropriately, avoid buyer issues resulting in higher fees for them to collect. EBay can't be that dumb to not maintain industry similar systems if not for truly self serving reasons.

·8 months agoI am not in favor of the change but I just click "Read Unread messages" and it filters the others out.

·8 months agoI just played with the settings in Firefox (requires some knowledge of CSS), and achieved this look:

·8 months agoIf you use the "Unread from members" or "Unread from eBay" filters, you can show only those messages, so there should be no confusion.
Depending on the font and text size, bold titles may not always be easy to discern alongside non-bold titles, but eBay would probably have been better off leaving the bold for unread messages and using the dot in addition to that rather than instead of that.

·8 months agoLike every other ebay 'change for the better', more CLICKS to do what was obvious at first sight.

·8 months agoI thought it was a browser issue, since I was just messing around with my themes. I'm not a fan either, I relied on the bold text, and the blue dots are too small. I may try to just use some custom CSS rules in Firefox to bring back the bold.

·8 months agoI do not find the blue dots "almost impossible to notice".
But that aside ...
Most message systems use bold to indicate unread messages (Gmail, Thunderbird, Outlook, and even this message board) so the change does seems unnecessary.

Yes, I noticed it. It makes it extremely hard to tell which of the messages are actually new now.
I almost missed 2 RQT messages last night and actually DID miss one from earlier.
