eBay message: Important User Agreement Update
Hello,
I received a message from eBay, I don't know if it was just me or everyone.
My question is whether they only sent it to me,
and
how to accept those agreements.
Dear cristian3_6,
We’ve updated eBay’s User Agreement, including the agreement to arbitrate any disputes you may have with us. Our updated User Agreement was posted on January 20, 2026. For users who agreed to a prior version of our User Agreement, this agreement is effective as of February 20, 2026.
In this update, eBay is updating its anti-scraping prohibition to clarify that it specifically also includes bots used for AI or LLMs. eBay is also updating the agreement to arbitrate in the updated User Agreement:
•
We clarified the scope of the class action waiver.
•
We clarified the process for opting out of the agreement to arbitrate.
•
We updated the physical address to which notices for informal dispute resolution, arbitration demands, and notices for opting out of arbitration must be sent.
We encourage you to read through the updated User Agreement. If you do not agree, you may close your eBay account by February 20, 2026 and stop using our services. If you keep your account with eBay, you agree that your continued use of our services constitutes your acceptance of the updated User Agreement, including the agreement to arbitrate.

·8 months agoI had the same issue you did. The "How To Accept" wasn't clear at first reading.
This should have been a NEW paragraph ..
" If you keep your account with eBay, you agree that your continued use of our services constitutes your acceptance of the updated User Agreement ..."
You and I aren't the only ones who will have that question.

·8 months agoThe last few sentences of that e-mail with some highlighting and separation of clauses, ideally to help readers understand it:
"We encourage you to read through the updated User Agreement.  If you do not agree, you may close your eBay account by February 20, 2026 and stop using our services.
If you keep your account with eBay, you agree that
your continued use of our services constitutes your acceptance
of the updated User Agreement, including the agreement to arbitrate."
Very easy, really.

·8 months agoi.e. the usual - roughly: if you disagree with us making your life difficult to impossible if things go wrong, your only recourse is to close your account. Those are the same terms every company who changes their user/privacy/whever agreement sets out. Comply or leave. I don't know anyone who even bothers to read the fine print.

·8 months agoWent to all.
By simply 'using' the site (hence, called a USER AGREEMENT)- you agree to everything in that 20 chapter 1000+? page-for-lawyers-only document.
Similar to the 13 page 18" long 'contract' with microscopic paragraphs when buying a car, only you don't have to sign anything.
