Ebay member threatens to tell my buyer I'm selling a fake item.
An Ebayer doesn't think I am selling a legitimate item. So they have threatened to tell my buyer that what I am selling is fake so they will return it....

·2 years agoProve the item is real. IF you cannot, then the buyer has a legitimate claim. Work it out with the buyer before this turns into a one sided war.
"First, without attacking either seller or buyer, nothing has been shown or stated by the seller and buyer if the product is Fake or real. No pictures, no postings. If the seller is really selling fake items and is scared to be outed (which I have seen) everyone helping them by providing blocking techniques and the inability to see the fact items from the buyer, is not helping other buyers (Beware). FACTS FIRST!"

·2 years agoThe person making the threats is not the buyer. The person making the threats has no way of identifying the buyer anyway.

·2 years agoJust curious, are they even trying to point out what makes them think the item is fake, from just photos and description? Also is this person a seller (do they have items for sale) and in the same category as your item? That's where this kind of trouble usually comes from, bitter rivalry.

·2 years agoThat buyer has a lot of time on their hands and spending it harassing you and they are not able to tell your buyers anything because they will never know who they are on your selling history. Block this crazy person immediately.

·2 years agoWhatever you do, make sure you don’t tell that ebayer your buyer’s username.

·2 years agoHow does he plan to contact that buyer since all that is shown to him is the buyer's eBay ID?

OP2 years agoYes!....Great Point

·2 years agoSounds more like sour grapes. Maybe someone bought it before he could get to it or he was outbid in an auction. As others have already said - his threat is nonsense.
I get those occasionally in my selling account. One guy who lost out on an auction sent me an overheated message saying that his bid (which never showed up) was supposed to be the winner AND he had already been on the phone to Ebay about it AND they were launching an investigation (!) AND I was instructed to hold the item until they could 'correct' the auction to make him the winner. Ummm... no.

OP2 years agoGreat Story. Thank you so much for weighing in. Regards.

·2 years agoEven Ebay accuses people of selling fake items when they are not. We live in a finger pointing society. Luckily there are now safeguards where ids are masked and contact is only allowed through ebay messages. That's at least some protection.

There is no way for that member to contact another member via an auction or a listing. All ID's are not complete for reasons like you stated. Years ago they could have contacted another member, but those days are long gone. They're just making a threat they can't follow thru with. Don't let it ruin your day. Block this person and move on.
Good luck & Happy Selling

·2 years agoHi @kato1940
-Add that member to your Blocked list on this page: Buyer Management | eBay
-No other member has access to your account or can see who your customers are.

·2 years agoI've been able to determine buyer IDs by matching up mutual feedback. It's jumping through a hoop, but not impossible.

·2 years agoFortunately the eBay member is blowing smoke. Since your eBay buyers IDs are all masked to anyone but you there's no way of anyone knowing what their true IDs are.
Block the eBayer making threats and report them.
You can do both from the message you received. Then delete the message.

·2 years agoHow would they contact your buyer?
Your buyer's ID won't be visible to them, but I suppose they could get it after the fact if mutual feedback is left for the transaction. Would they go to the trouble?
Better question: Are you sure your item is authentic?

OP2 years agoYes, I've had it for 26 years and shown to many collectors. Someone in the U.K. is screaming fake and it's American produced.
