Ebay listing items as promoted without my permission. Lost money because of it
Hi. Ebay promoted an item of mine without my permission and now I lost money. Usually selling my stuff goes without a hitch, but when I checked an order this morning it said it was sold through promoted listing, and now I lost money because of it. The stuff I sell is old and cheap so it's not worth it to promote, but this somehow was promoted and now I'm loosing money. I always double check all settings before posting so I'm 100% certain it's not a mistake on my end. Did anyone else have this problem and what do I do about this??

·11 months agoI just put up a post. Wait until you stop promoting. Theyre going to hide your items completely in hopes that you'll start using promoted items again. My sales all summer were great...til I used and stopped using promoted listings.
They're saying that someone who looked at one item during promotion came back a week or 2 later not during promotion n thats why you owe them money. Get ready to make 0 dollars. Cuz its coming.
Im migrating my items elsewhere and not launching a new product from here like I was going to. They can go play with their mom cuz it won't be me anymore.

·11 months agoI just found 3 older items that I’ve had for sale for a bit. One item I have multiple of. So, it will be up for a while. But, 3 of my 300+ items were “promoted†with different percentages as the fee. Now, I have never once promoted my items since I do alright without it. I did over 6.5k last year in gross sales and over 9k so far this year. So, I have no idea why a few of my items had been promoted. And the promotion fee was as high as 13.5%. So, it’s never worth it to me since there would be the regular fee, PLUS 13.5%!!!
NO THANK YOU! I’m not sure what’s going on, but I don’t appreciate this unwanted promotion. I hope your issue gets resolved.

Are you positive that you did not just accidentally click the promotion checkbox when listing that one item?
Did anyone else have this problem and what do I do about this?
I would end the listing, relist using sell similar, and make sure the promotions are turned off.

·11 months agoNot if it had multiple quantity available. This is also an old thread that the comment above yours revived (edit: 2 above yours), so I suspect the original poster resolved their issue by now (they don't appear to have any current listings).

·1 year agoYou need to contact Ebay through chat box and talk to an agent about this. If you are claiming you aren't promoting anything and this buyer purchased under promotion then there could be a glitch. I personally have not experienced this as a seller but as a buyer I have plenty of times where the listing was cheap I purchased then I get a message from the seller canceling the transaction. Ebay would probably look into it and then say to cancel the transaction as an error.

·1 year agoMaybe it was a “halo†sale. Do you promote any of your listings? I really don’t understand the Halo sale thing, but if you promote some of your listings, and a buyer looks at them, then buys something else from you, I think eBay can charge a promotion fee. Not fair, but that’s their thing these days.

OP1 year agoHi. No, I don't promote any of my items that I list. Like already mentioned in the post, my items are old and cheap stuff I don't use anymore, so there's no need to promote as it'd be a waste of money. This one item was just randomly promoted without my permission and I have no clue what to do about it
