eBay lets Make it Better for BOTH (sellers) & (buyers)
18yrs selling .... if eBay is really concerned about buyers -- lets think about these easy points.
1) Fix the Vehicle Compatibility List - if a buyer doesn't put their vehicle info in; then the order button is not active. Can sellers have an (opt-in) on this. Just by buyers being flaky accounts for 30% returns, including bad feedback, false (Not as Described ) on a buyers lack of concern and i-dont-care attitude. Please make this an OPT-IN. ** another idea, why after all these years is this Vehicle Compatibilty (NOT HTML5 ?)
2) Cancel Requests. Please stop allowing buyers to order from multiple sellers same like items within a time frame. Its so frustrating for me when I myself buy something and after checkout, I get a like items pop up, recently bought. eBay is blindly braking their own rules, of selling (like items) is it now allowed to sell LIKE NIKE, LIKE APPLE, I dont think so, so why once a buyer orders something does ebay themselves have this? it is costing sellers money on returns that do not need to happen. (so how about not showing an order for up to an hour) Let a buyer change their mind before a seller prints a shipping label, and packs and item just to get it back because the buyer thinks we wanna make a Nickel (literally) in some cases (on like items) which many do not understand the difference in quality. Another OPT-In, like immediate payment required.... let the orders sit in background before a seller sees them, one hour will not affect anyone, infact it will just speed up sellers getting buyers their items. No more searching for a package that was packaged hours ago, or already picked up by the postman just to be returned ... money lost.
3) Tracking. Please once a transaction has a tracking number associated to it and a buyer tries to open (did not receive) why wont eBay attach the tracking that is associated with the transaction already uploaded to stop the fraud of buyers getting things for free. Every week it seems like there are more and more people claiming not received when tracking shows it was. IF a seller isnt quick enough a buyer will get the item and the money. (please if a sale has a tracking number attached) please don't allow a dispute unless the tracking doesn't show end destination.

·4 years agoNO buyer is going to want any ecommerce site telling them "you cannot buy this / this sale will be delayed because you bought a similar item 15 minutes ago"
No thanks

·4 years agoThis is exactly what Amazon does. They hold orders in the background for up to 1hr. To allow a customer to change mind, or if they did make a mistake - correct it themselves. Carxtc is 100% correct. Many buyers do not (or have not) ordered anything on eBay in a while. eBay is breaking their oldest rule, "cannot sell like items"
try and put anything in a title "like iphone", "like nike, lol (it will be taken down immediately) however, after check out, and paying in eBay, - they themselves are sending [Like Recently bought items!] ... This directly affects sellers ability to get out items in a quick manner. Top Rated Sellers have now only (1) day to get items out, instead of (2) - which was our vetting incase a buyer made an error or changed mind, now we dont have the time luxury, and with the (similar like items purchased) popping up after checking out, its causing buyer and seller dissatisfaction ... Opt-IN for a seller to hold a transaction for 1hr (or however long) a buyer has to ask for cancel request is a great idea... (almost as great as the immediate pay now) -- 23yrs selling on eBay, yes we use to get so many Unpaying bidders... thank goodness that is not still happening.

OP3 years agoSince eBay did OPT-in for immidate pay (we do not get anymore UNpaid)
- eBay Seller Updates have not been helpful for years (only buyer advantages)
ebay needs to do more OPT-in (for sellers)
So, since the beginning eBay always claims they are here for the buyer and the seller, I obviously know what I am doing here on eBay as a 23yr old Veteran, maybe these can be seriously looked into.
I have a few good ideas, (not the usual lame Seller Updates we get) but real world (let's make eBay back to the Pioneering stature it once was) kind of updates. These are all (easy to implement) which is along the same idea as the best thing eBay ever did; How stop non-paying buyers... was the Opt-in (immediate payments). That was the best idea and solution, and it works great. (But I have 3 new and improved Opt-INS, which will make eBay more money *(more than the current algorythm to punish sellers because of high return rates or below standard - it will actually expose these tactics which have sellers feeling abused) **buyers Lie to get free returns, See Opt-in#3
Lets keep both buyers and sellers happier than ever!) WIN, WIN, WIN ***
1) Opt-IN Sellers to Not allow Buy Button to be Active if Vehicle Compatible Listings are not filled out. - This will stop the NOT as Described claims, in listings using the vehicle fitments (The same parts that have been working for 25+ years) are now not working, because buyers assume it says FORD, they have a FORD - but not all parts work until you drill down to make, model, and year. ** We are getting hit with not as described or not as shown... which are 100% same as purchased (when they are returned) these buyers are just not informed. Let's help the buyers make good choices the first time. - Because, if they had to take photo proof of their false claims, eBay would see the same pattern as I.
2) Opt-IN Sellers to accept buyer's orders to sit in background for as long as they have to ask for a cancel request:
If they cancel; great - we don't get (2) defects, because we never saw the order. The (2) defects are negatives, because the buyer thinks we are greedy for that nickel; if its stopped and refunded, we get a Carrier Never Scanned shipping defect. ** Usually, this situation is a direct issue with eBays (LIKE ITEMS / Similar) after checking out. This is so wrong on so many levels, I do not like seeing that when I check-out. (Like Items was eBays first Policy) it was against anyone to list or sell in a title - LIKE NIKE, LIKE APPLE, etc, yet you guys are doing it after the buyer checks out, so - now they see something similar, or like my item *maybe 5cents cheaper, but it's NOT the same. - Cancel Request soon to follow. Negative because you shipped it out already, because 1 day ship for Top Rated: now since 2020 update... 2-day was way better for customers.
3) Opt-IN Sellers to Auto-Accept Returns * Once Tracking shows Returned, a buyer is automatically refunded. Since eBay now is using direct payments for most transactions, this should be so easy to implement, Sellers have 2-Business Days to Appeal (nothing changes there). We sellers wait and wait for items to be Returned, (if they ever do actually return item) - this will help sellers be more productive, and sell more, which will in return, make more profit for eBay. It's almost like these sneaky buyers are gaming the returns to arrive on Fridays, and then Call into eBay or escalate a claim over the weekend. This happens frequently. * And when buyers claim, items not as described, we need some images showing that. Their claims, are actually costing us money, because of loss of shipping, loss of ratings (higher fees) and we get back what was shown in listing, same everything - they are just gaming your system to get free returns.
