Ebay keeps fees on refunds?
When you sell an item on Ebay, and buyer returns it for a refund. ebay keeps the Final Value Fee and also retains (if any) the ad/promo fee?

·3 years agoIf the buyer requests a return, you do not get the 30 cents back, but you should get your final value fee back, assuming you approve the return and refund on time.
If the buyer asks eBay to step in and they refund for you, then you get diddly.

OP3 years agoOkay, so I sell the item for $150. The Post Office mangles the item. it's returned. I pay the buyer back his $150. and Ebay is paid $15 in "fees". I have my item (damaged) and I'm out $15.
Now if I go to Walmart, and return a $25 shirt that didn't fit, Walmart (usually) returns my $25. Walmart doesn't get an extra $5 and I don't get an extra $5.
What Ebay is doing sounds unethical to me.

·3 years agoIf the refund is made via eBay the seller fees "should" be refunded. YMMV
The ones that I have done show a breakdown of the $$, and where they came from.
Buyer gets $150. $135 from me. $15 credited eBay seller fees.

·3 years agoSame results with a "partial" refund. A portion of the "fees" were credited.

It has been my experience that when I voluntarily refund, eBay credits the seller fees (- 30 cents).
ad/promo fee do not pertain to my selling, so there, I have no experience

·3 years agoOnly if eBay has to step in to issue the refund for you, then eBay keeps your final value fees.
CALL THEM. Don't try to humanize the bots. The bots are STUPID. That's why I don't sell on Amazon. Everything there is bots. With Ebay you can call someone on the phone and speak in English (or maybe Spanish now too?) and get problems resolved.

OP3 years agoHow did my message on another topic "CALL THEM..." get copied as part of your reply? Weird
