Ebay just added yet another roadblock to seeing the item description??.......
I just noticed to day that ebay just changed the amount of effert and "Clicks" to see the item description on a sold item.
When an item sells- i click on it to verify that i package everything in cluded as well as see the item location which is in the description- this USED to be one click.... the full listing showed up/ simple- easy peasy as anyone would expect.
Then a year or so ago they changed it so when you click on the listing it takes you to a sub page that is kinda the listing but just has one pcture and the title AND 60 promoted ads AND a button that says "see original listing". This now takes 2 clicks to see the description and 2 clicks to get back to shipping or orders page.....annoying but i have gotten used to the inconvenience...
Today when i clicked on the "see full listing" and scrolled down to see the description- I was greeted with NO DESCRIPTION...... just a blue script saying "SEE FULL DESCRIPTION" !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ebay are you seriously kidding me? know it takes 3 clicks to see a description? WHY? How does it make sense to hide the description from view- it is the heart and soul of the listing. It is bad enough to do it on the selling side as too many buyers have no idea there is even a description but now to make us click 3x to see it after the sale is just obnoxious.

Seriously, how many people want to look at an item description for a sold item? Most people are only interested in what an item sold for.
How often do you have to look at it? One time after the sale? What’s a few more mouse clicks each month?

OP6 months ago@theteamsetguy between our 3 accounts we probably look up about 25-40 sold items a day..... Those extra clicks add up fast. Is it going to kill us....no.... Is it an unnecessary time waster....yes.
But I agree with you ..it is less detrimental on the sold listing side- but on the forward facing search side- iys beyond belief that they still choose to hide the description and make a potential buyer skip over it or miss it all together

·6 months agoIt's only hidden on completed listings. Yes, I wish they'd automatically show the full description too. But it still shows up for active listings. Separated from the top of the page by a row of sponsored listings, but still there nonetheless.
Honestly... how many BUYERS are searching for completed/ended listings to BUY? Literally zero, these are items that are no longer available.

OP6 months ago@kibble-net eBay is a platform for buyers AND sellers.... The question is why make it more cumbersome for its sellers to use? If they could say that this change somehow will double sales.... Then there is at least some benefit, but that is not the case at all.....
As far as "zero" people searching sold or ended listings...... That literally is what built eBay.. it is 80% of the research we do when we list. And the description is crucial to verifying fitment and gathering information to make better and more accurate listings which only benefits buyers and ebay

That sounds like a third world problem to me.

OP6 months ago@theteamsetguy not sure I follow you? Either way I find it odd that you would come out in support of inefficiency, or less productivity.
Imagine that the source you use to research and price the baseball cards you sell decided to put all the players names out of alphabetical order.... Or mix the players up with the wrong teams.... Info is still there but will take you longer to access it..... Would you think that is a 3rd world problem?

The reason sellers report these issues here is because often eBay design teams do not realize that the changes they make are detrimental because they rarely ever are sellers or even buyers. They monitor these pages and hopefully make changes to make the platform actually better.

I don't use eBay sold items for my item descriptions. I use a website TCDB.com (Trading Card Data Base)

OP6 months ago@theteamsetguy I figured as much... But the question I posed was that if they decided to make it more difficult or even just more inconvenient for you to use..... Would you defend it like you are defending eBay for making it more difficult for its sellers that do use eBay sold listings for research?.
Doesn't really matter I guess... Just curious why someone who does not use that feature would even speak about it or have an opinion let alone tell me my concerns are invalid.

·6 months ago@theteamsetguy Many people who sell a variety of long tail items do sold comps as part of their research, and, for many obscure items, the description can be important. So I would say a fair number of sellers now have aa additional click on a site that is constantly telling us and the stockholders that ebay is all about eliminating friction for sellers and making the listing process easier. Making research even a bit more time consuming is not making the process easier.
