eBay is readjusting my delivery times and making buyers irritated.
Summary: quadcitypickers describes their frustration with eBay's handling of delivery estimates. They set a longer handling time as a buffer but usually ship faster. Despite this, eBay adjusts the delivery dates based on actual shipping times, causing customers to have unrealistic expectations. dhbookds adds that this issue has been ongoing for years and consistently causes complaints from sellers.
I have a 3 day handling time at the moment as I am dealing with a lot of personal and family matters.
But...I usually ship within 1-2 days. I set this up that way to give myself a bit of a buffer.
Someone messaged me with the typical "where the heck is my item". So I did a bit of digging..
"Ship by 9/21". Estimated delivery date shown to buyer "9/19-9/25".
How can the estimated delivery date be sooner than the ship by?
Worse yet, this was for an item sold 9/16. Ground advantage to their zip is also 4 business days.
9/19 is neither possible for me nor USPS.
I speak with eBay on Instagram, and they tell me that eBay "now adjusts the delivery dates going off your actual handling time, rather than the selected handling time".
That would make sense if people are shipping later than advertised, but if I set things up that way to give myself some breathing room, eBay is now punishing me for...being efficient?
Sorry eBay, but this is a very stupid thing to do.

·2 weeks agoAnd Amazon is even worse. Amazon does this PLUS if the item is delivered late according to AMZ, then the seller is dinged for it. And the sellers have a very small window of percentages before they are sanctioned in some way. OH and AMZ does NOT consider a seller's handling time at all from what I can tell.
