eBay is incorrectly auto-filling the Country of Origin field
I noticed that eBay has auto-filled the Country of Origin field on most/all of my Motors Parts & Accessories listings. The problem is they seem to be simply guessing. Just because a part is original to a Toyota or Nissan doesn't mean the part was made in Japan. Major brands build their cars all over the world and source parts from local suppliers. Often I can't clearly identify the true country of origin for a used auto part, which is why I don't fill in the field. Is there any way to opt out of this? I can't even manually remove it...the field fills in automatically after I revise a listing.

·7 months agoNormally I would say just change it because you are responsible for the content of your Listings, But not being able to change it manually is a much bigger issue & I don't know what to tell you about that, Except trying ending the listing & start over.

·7 months agoSpotted this new error 2 weeks ago doing a Bulk relist about 30 out of 100 had the coo missing, probably wrong as well.
Getting pretty burnt out on fixing the defects that just make themselves here.

You are correct. eBay is just guessing at COO, probably using AI.
I have parts from a '95 Jetta, all those now show "Germany", even though the car and most of the parts were made in Mexico.
I got called out by a potential buyer this morning for listing a used OEM 1986 Toyota distributor with the country of origin as China. Distributor was made in Japan, probably has a newer Chinese-made cap & rotor, and has been in the US for 40yrs. What is the correct country of origin? lol.
My whole business is built around buyers looking for quality OEM parts and when they see "China", it is bad for sales.
I believe the changing constantly changing tariffs are causing the necessity for the new requirement.
I opted out of international shipping for now and may re-enroll in a month. This will make the option box go away. (Made the change in "Shipping Preferences" under "Account Settings").
