eBay is directing your buyers to Depop with a banner at the top of search!
Summary: coloradoreworn noticed a new feature where eBay displays a banner directing users to shop fashion on Depop. This feature appears intermittently and is seen by some users both on the desktop and app. Since eBay acquired Depop, such integrations are expected, although the timing was surprising to some. simply-the-best-for-you experienced a temporary flash of the Depop logo but couldn't replicate the full feature consistently. Meanwhile, valueaddedresource confirmed seeing similar banners both on the homepage and above search results and noted eBay's previous similar integration with another platform. Discussions also highlighted selling experiences on Depop, including baby clothes.
This popped up for me yesterday. When I do a fashion related search, eBay shows a banner at the top of search directing buyers to shop more fashion on Depop! I'm seeing this on desktop and in the app. When I click on the banner, my search seamlessly continues on Depop. Not everyone I've talked to about this has seen it. That doesn't mean your potential buyers haven't.
eBay acquired Depop a couple months back, so change is to be expected. I just didn't realize it would be this soon and this direct.
If you sell fashion on eBay and aren't also selling on Depop, you may want to consider it.
Depop (currently): No store fees. No insertion fees. No seller fees. Buyer paid discounted shipping (paid for by Depop - NOTE: this could go away any day)

·1 month agoCan confirm I'm seeing both the homepage banner and the banner above search (where an eBay seller's Promoted Store ad might normally be displayed) leading buyers to Depop.
eBay did something similar with Goldin starting last year, inserting a module in search that showed individual item listings leading directly to that item on Goldin - and I'm guessing we'll see something similar happen with fashion items and Depop in eBay search too.

·1 month agoInteresting. If I do a Fashion search, as my page of results loads, I get a quick flash of the Depop logo, but then it's immediately replaced by my search results with the Shop eBay Live events banner at the top.
Seems like they may be working on it as we speak, as I tried several different searches, some geared more towards the Depop crowd & could not replicate your results, despite likely being on the same server as you lol.

I did searches that don't align with the Depop stereotype and I'm still getting it.
More people I know are starting to see it now too.

·1 month agoYes, I have noticed these ads. I just looked at what is being sold and there is a lot more than clothing! I found certain health and beauty brands listed there. There appears to be a category "Other".
