eBay international shipping return question
I shipped an international package and the buyer said it was damaged and requested a return, I talked to an eBay agent to ask if I’m responsible for the refund if the item being damaged wasn’t my fault. They told me once I received the returned item and it is damaged that I can contact eBay and that I’ll keep the money from the sale. I’m wondering if I possibly misunderstood the agent because I’m reading in other forums that eBay keeps the returned item.

·7 months agoI sold an item to an international buyer through the eBay international shippng program. The buyer has initiated a return. When does eBay "step in" and take care of all of it? Does the buyer have to return the item to eBay's international shipping depot? Right now I have the funds from the sale on hold. I have contacted the buyer and told them to ask for a refund and that it was out of my hands because it was international, and that eBay would take care of it. When does eBay "step in"?

·7 months agoIf you shipped through eIS eBay handles the return from start to finish. The return request will say “
You don't need to refund the buyer, and you will not receive the item back. Thanks for trusting eBay International Shipping with this order.“
If you shipped eBay international shipping standard you would be responsible for handling the return from start to finish.

·6 months agoIf in fact it did ship eIS to the Hub, eBay takes care of it. Nothing else for you to do. If you are asking when they "step in", that hints to us that it didn't ship eIS. Funds on hold have nothing to do with an eIS return. In actuality, eBay "Steps in" the moment they received the item from you at the HUB, well before any return would be initiated.

You wouldn't have to deal with this.
Ebay handles everything.

·10 months agoI looked at a handful of your sold listings and didn't see any that is shipped with eBay's International shipping program. With eIS you wouldn't be responsible for the refund.
You Shipped USPS First Class International, you are responsible for refunding.
eBay holds sellers resposible for getting the item to the buyer in the condition stated in the listing.
That being said you are respossible for refunding the buyer for the damaged item.
You have several choices of how to deal with the return....
1. You can accept the return, issue the buyer a label to return the item, wait for the item to be returned , then refund.
2. Refund the buyer without rerquiring a return, once refunded the case will close.
3. Allow ebay to step in, eBay will always find the case in favor of the buyer, issue the refund from your funds, allow the buyer to keep the item, give you a defect for not handling your return yourself plus no fvf credit.
It's your choice.
