Ebay Increasing Selling Fees ........
Ebay has just raised selling fees. Check your messages for one from Ebay stating they are making changes to their Terms of Service. Find the black box with a Terms of Service link and click on it. Scroll down the page to 3. Seller Payment Fees, then find the category that describes you and your country. I sell mainly clothing. Fees were 13.6% plus the individual fee. The percentage is increasing to 15% plus the individual fee.

For users of eBay's US site, ebay.com, no eBay fees are being raised at this time.
Not today, not on July 8, 2026.
eBay's Final Value Fees (FVFs) are not being raised at this time.
The FVF percentages are not being increased.
The FVF per-order fee (which is either 30 cents or 40 cents) is not being increased.
The insertion fee is not being increased.
None of the fees for added features in the listings are being increased.
The widely-misunderstood International Fee is not being increased.
Promoted Listing fees are only increased if the seller chooses to increase them.
The sky is not falling.
If your 2nd and/or 3rd grade teachers are still alive, they are quietly weeping.
"I tried!", they gasp. "I tried so hard to help them understand!"

·5 months agoYes exactly. That's why someone (who can) needs to choose a Best Answer, to stop each new reader from thinking there's any merit to the post. I nominate @valueaddedresource 's msg #22^.
Since we appear to have another hit-and-run OP @poptartzvintage any Mentor could designate the B.A.
@mr_lincoln Do you have a sec?

Thank you for the tag and the Best Answer was picked up as suggested by one of the Mentors up thread. A number of us were watching this one because it is important for The Community's benefit not to have erroneous information posted potentially sending members into an unnecessary panic, again thank you!

·5 months agoThe China Sellers will just increase their Shill Price & once in a while an American Hobo will sell at below retail and eat the 15%. This helps nobody. Removing the Shills is the only way.
Today i listed a pair of 10AN fittings for 13.45 + 9.99 shipping. All the US Sellers are gone. I'm the Lowest price on Ebay. A Shiller has 62.00 as the high. They can be bought on Amazon for 21.00 and since they're under the minimum 35$ buy you'd have to pay shipping but you can always add something else to get free shipping.
Ebay is beyond Frustrating
What are we even doing ? I have a Prime Membership. I can keep no Inventory and not pay for Warehouse Space and be just like them triple the price, have Amazon deliver to my door, put my stickers over the top of Amazon and I can have all of Amazons Inventory. I do everything backwards it seems.

·5 months agoWell, guess I better delete all my listings and quit. That 1.4 percent is gonna cut all of the profits out of my 300% ROI and drive me straight out of business.

·5 months agoHere's an archived version of the fees page from January:
https://web.archive.org/web/20260103111037/https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/store-selling-fees-managed-payments-sellers?id=4809
I ran it through a difference checker to compare against the current live page from today and do not see any changes.
Remember. when they send out a notice that something in the policy page has changed, it doesn't mean everything in the policy page has changed - some of that text has been in there for years, you just may not have noticed it before.
spendingcents26150
·5 months agoSo the clothing has always been 15%? Is that what you are saying?
Never mind. I am still asleep.. lol
valueaddedresource
·5 months ago@spendingcents26150 depends on sub-category and store subscription level.
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-fees/store-fees?id=4809
For example here's what the fee page said in January for Starter for Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Women > Women's Bags & Handbags
and here's what that same page says for Starter store Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Women > Women's Bags & Handbags today.
As you can see, there has been no change - and I don't see any change for any other categories comparing from January to today either.

·5 months agoCould be the Gamestop offer making Ebay board tighten up their loose ends that a new buyer thinks they could exploit to their benefit.
i.e. Well...Ebay not charging enough - so we will buy the whole company and increase the fees.
Low hanging fruit.

·5 months agoImagine that.
A for-profit company raising prices to make more money.
Unheard of.

·5 months agoOn a site that charges a percentage based fee I really don't understand why fees would increase (if they in fact did) other than greed. When everything goes up ebay doesn't need to increase fees to keep up, everything that we sell does that for them as the cost of the items that are being sold increases as well as them double dipping and collecting fees on the large increase in shipping costs.

·5 months agoSo vote with your feet. Delete all your listings and quit, start your own marketplace. Why are you still here?

eBay is increasing no fees at this time, not today, and not as of July 8, 2026.

·5 months ago@poptartzvintage I bet you looked at the wrong chart (wrong store level) like I just did. The layout of all these is about as user-friendly as soft poo.
gurlcat
·5 months agoEDIT: Never mind!
I didn't realize the chart I was looking at was for a 'Starter' store only. 'Basic' and up are not budging for Jewelry, WHEW!
Can anyone assure me that Jewelry and Watches (for a seller WITH a store) is not rising by a full 2%, from 13.0 to 15.0?

I am using this link:
And here is what I see:
It said the new fees won't apply until May 8th. Here is my most recent jewelry sale:
So unless someone can show me where I'm looking at it wrong, it does indeed appear they are raising FVF's on some categories *with no prior announcment @a_c_green .
a_c_green
·5 months agoGosh. Imagine that. 🙄 😆
gurlcat
·5 months agoIt wouldn't have REALLY surprised me though. And technically this email would have been a prior announcement, just a buried one, and with extremely short notice, LOL.
dhbookds
·5 months agoPeople have asked for years for a delineation of the changes........to no avail.
ten_o_nine
·5 months agoThe 15% you saw is for non-store, for store subscribers, there were no changes to the FVF.
monroe67
·5 months agoI'm still not seeing that -- the table/chart you posted.
I guess I have some more reading to do.
Daaaaang. I wanted a nice relaxing evening . . . . .
monroe67
·5 months agoCute chart you added into your post:
"The 15% you saw is for non-store, for store subscribers, there were no changes to the FVF.
There are dozens of hyperlinks throughout this Revision.
Could you please share where you found this nice little chart? It could save time for a lot of sellers . . . . .
monroe67
·5 months agoI think and hope you are mistaken.
Are you sure you have clicked on the appropriate nation? Your listings show you are in the United States.
Did you click on the appropriate hyperlink depending on whether or not you have an eBay Store?
I clicked on United States in the first column, for eBay sellers do not have have a Store. (I do not have a Store.)
The fees all look exactly the same to me, same as they've been for about two years now.
eBay's own announcement (today, May 6, 2026, at 12:123 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time) states:
"We're revising the Payments Terms of Use to better describe the payment services we provide to you. We have rewritten the terms primarily to clarify and reorganize the existing terms to make them easier to read and understand."
This leads me to believe eBay is not raising Final Value Fees at this time.
Previous fee increases have been announced very clearly with titles like "Increase in Final Value Fees."

·5 months agoEverything I shipped today shipped at 12.7 percent. Every category I sell in now shows 13.6 percent. Seems to be an increase to me.

·5 months agoLooks like eBay showed you their way to put a spin on things huh??
a_c_green
·5 months agoYeah... okay, I'll stipulate that eBay's communication in general is atrocious, the worst of any major company that I deal with, but their statement quoted above seems fairly clear about what the new content is, and certainly if fees were going up, I seem to recall them announcing that in advance when fees went up on previous occasions.
That's not to say that it wouldn't be really welcome if they would itemize which paragraphs have been changed and where the new text is. Given the number of attorneys that must be parsing that stuff, I'm sure there's a list of changes someplace.
monroe67

As a former legal secretary who has typed multitudinous revisions to Motions and Agreements and many many other documents, I assure you that somewhere within somebody's computer there is very likely at least one red-lined version of these revision(s).
But we, the eBay users who keep this ship afloat, won't see them.
Also, we eBay sellers do not all have the same levels of vocabulary and reading comprehension.
eBay has to try to keep their policies as simple as possible.

Well, was it only clothing that changed? I just checked the current listed fees vs what I was charged back in Feb this year. The rate hadn't changed for my categories... Yet. If you look here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/store-selling-fees-managed-payments-sellers?id=4809#section3
I don't know what the fees where prior to now for clothing items, but I thought they were 15% before? 13.6 is for MOST items. But clothing has its own category, and it was always higher, or so I understood.
Perhaps you had listed some clothing items under an incorrect category?
Look up your sales under payments, and view the fees on your oldest listed. See what the rate was back a few months. Bet its the same rate. But also review the category you used. If it was not under clothing, that would explain the lower rate you saw.
