ebay html broken for multi-listings using VARIATIONS
Hey eBay dufuses. Do you even code? My customers can not select the item to buy in my multi listings using variations. Before someone asks me what the heck I am talking about, simply click on my listings and try to select an item from down the list. The browser freaks out. Same results in Chrome and Edge. Maybe the eBay coders are using Netscape? Hey, do you got mail? Do I need to fire up the AOL messenger to get ahold of someone in this dead company that can stop wrecking my darn listings so I can actually sell something?

·3 years agoI found the same problem few hours ago. Now, the buyers can select the item from the drop down menu properly. But I still cannot edit the quantity of the variations at the active listing page.

·3 years agoI'm also having this problem on a few variation listings, both mine and someone else's I tried. Yeah, it's totally annoying and is actively preventing purchases from occurring. I know this because a buyer messaged me asking about one but can't access it.

·3 years agoI'm getting the same problem browsing eBay UK (coincidentally, I was looking at listings for Star Wars figures, not unlike obiwon-kenobi's listings). Some listings are OK for the first few options but then get stuck. I'm using MS Edge on a Windows 10 PC.
This article says that the problem has been issued with ALERT ID 14837.

The listing you originally linked that was having problems seems to be working again for me. I am able to select different variations without all the variations being sequentially loaded one after the other.

My variation listings are still experiencing the issue. It seems that the first 10 or so variations selected from the drop-down list function as intended, however, if I select a variation further down on the list, the rapid loading starts.

I just got off the phone with eBay. According to the CSR the, issue was first reported about 4 hours ago and now has an ALERT ID. The ALERT ID is 14837. If you contact customer service please provide the ALERT ID so your account can be added.

I don't see this on my own 3 test listings:
- Multivariation listing with assorted variation photos.
- Simple variation listing with no variation photos.
- Simple variation listing with a few variation photos.
My variation photos appear to just change, rather than scrolling through the lineup (perhaps I don't have enough to require scrolling). However, I do see the promoted row flash with each new selection.
When I looked at this listing from the OP, making a selection will scroll through each each variation until reaching the selection, and the promoted lists flash with each variation picture that changes, so the whole screen is flashing. When I gave all 50 promo gallery photos time to load, that section of the page no longer flashed. Additionally, on first pass, if the enlarged listing photos are not yet cached, we see some latency as the larger variation photos catch up with the thumbnail scrolling
The issue I see is that eBay is trying to scroll to the destination photo, which flashes through the variation lineup along the way. That causes the enlarged photo to change, and if the promos are not loaded, they appear to go crazy. The promos still reload with each variation that is scrolled, but that reloading is only apparent if a promo image changes.

·3 years agoI wonder if this is connected to the other MV issue which has been going on for at least weeks, maybe longer, where you click on a photo and it comes up with another in the lineup, or it sticks and won't show the photo you just clicked on next.
Of course there's also the issue sellers are having with "server down" messages when trying to use the pencil thing to edit qty.

·3 years agoWhat happens with the variation you selected in the end @shipscript ? For example, if I go to the OP's listing I can select a variation. But then if I try to select a different variation it does that crazy scrolling and screen flashing before landing back on the first variation instead of the second one I chose. So from a buying perspective I can't select a different variation to see pics and add to cart (unless I use the app).
What I just described is duplicated in @mcdougle4248 's video. Thanks for sharing the tech ticket number mcdougle - very helpful. ·3 years agoI can select through the first three variations. After that, it scrolls to the selection, but then steps its way back to the top of about the third panel of thumbnails in the scroller (like a counter wrapping problem). Interestingly, when I open the clickable overlay and pull the browser wide or narrow, it steps through the pictures as "focus" steps through the thumbnails on the overlay, which is off-center. Looks like a lot of issues at play here, but it may just be one variable that is bad.

·3 years agoSomething is definitely up with your own variation listings. Using a browser I am unable to choose any but the first variation, and any choice seems to step through each option before stopping at the first choice again. I am still able to select various options of your listings using the eBay app, though.
But I am also able to successfully choose variations of others' listings without those problems, even variations with multiple nested options.

That leads me to wonder if @obiwon-kenobi 's variation listings need required listing updates that haven't been completed? Maybe that's causing the malfunction.
I am not seeing the problem on @comicsource's listings or on my own listings.

·3 years agoHoly smokes....One of my accounts is 'heavy' on variations....i tried two of mine and after the 1st Select on the 2nd Select the listing looked like the wheel of fortune slot machine.....selections spinning randomly, random pictures loading and unloading.
That's not good.......

·3 years agoI can see the multi-listings for @inhawaii and @comicsource OK, if a bit 'flickery'. The ones that I looked at only had a few options.
I can also see the first few options in @obiwon-kenobi's multi-listings, but then it jams. I've noticed the same thing in other listings - I think it might be working OK up to a certain number of options.

·3 years agoI agree with your thoughts about listings with large numbers of variation options experiencing the issue with the lower options in the drop-down list. Most of my variation listings have 40+ variation options. All of these listings have the same issue described here in this thread. I have 1 listing with only 12 variation options and it seems to be functioning as intended.

·3 years agoFrom what @gatefold , @mcdougle4248 , @obiwon-kenobi and others have posted as examples, it appears that the problem begins after image 32. It does not matter whether the variations are active or out of stock, the image lineup shows the out of stock image. So if a variation has multiple photos per variation, the user won't get very far, while a listing with single variation photos will make it further. That master record images, and out of stock images, as well as active variation images, are counted in the total of 32 images.
For those of you who have not yet reported your listings to customer support, please let them know that image 32 is the magic number.

In a manner of speaking, yes "we conquered" the lands that became those states.
Alaska and Hawaii have been states of the United States of America for some 63-64 years now.

·3 years agoI've never seen that before. It's like the listing is having a seizure.
I can select one variation. But if I try to change the selection it starts flashing through all the photos and variations on the menu before going back to the original selection and a random pic.
What a happy sales weekend this will be if the problem persists. 😒
