eBay guessing on Country of Origin and incorrectly auto-filling in your listings
All of my listings were automatically changed by eBay to show Country of Origin, a lot of my listings now show the COO as China.
eBay just guessed.
I have parts listed from a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta. eBay changed all of these listings to show COO as Germany. Good guess, but car and most of its parts were made in Mexico, the parts are stamped or labelled made in Mexico, and part numbers show this.
I am selling used OEM car parts. My buyers are looking for quality used parts, and not Chinese made aftermarket parts. So no chance of me selling a used OEM part if it shows COO as China.
Am I responsible for any customs issues? I did not make or authorize these changes.
I tried twice to change the listings using bulk editing tool. Changes are not getting applied to the listings.
If I revise the listings one-by-one, I can change to COO, but If I leave it blank, eBay automatically fills it in.
I have opted out of international shipping, hoping the COO box would go away.

·4 months agoWere you able to resolve this? We are seeing the exact same thing with used OEM auto parts. Country of origin has been incorrectly switched to China (by eBay) which of course makes buyers think it's cheap aftermarket knock off parts. When we try to revise listings they actually still show the correct country on my revision screen, but as soon as it's saved, listing shows China to customers.

·7 months agoI just discovered this by accident a moment ago.
You can select some/all your listings from the listing view in Hub, click Edit -this goes to your bulk edit page, and right at the top is a new box stating exactly how many of your listings have no COO at all, and how many have been filled by eBay. If you check either box, the screen below populates with exactly the listings that pertain to that selection.
You can do what you want from there, but at least you don't have to open up each listing individually to see that item specific.

Did you fill in the correct COO when you created the listings and the issue is eBay recently overwrote your entries?

OP7 months agoHere are three examples of incorrect COO on 1995 VW Jetta parts. I don't know if this is a good time to lie to Immigration and CUSTOMS Enforcement (ICE).
I have opted out of international shipping, but if I was still enrolled, customs forms for these items would be filled out incorrectly.
Yes VW is a German company. Most carmakers have factories all over the world, and use some local parts based on country of manufacture.
All of my Honda parts now show COO of Japan. US model Hondas are made in US, Canada, Great Britain, etc.....
eBay automatically filled in COO Germany, part stamped "made in Mexico".

·7 months agoThe same exact thing has/is happening to my auto part related listings. I have tried everything, but, it always seems to "override" or just insert the wrong country.
I just noticed this started happening in early February.
I just ignore it anymore, and, let eBay automate it be it wrong or right as it seems to be out of my control.
